Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
The marketplace was filled with vendors selling equipment and weapons, but the most numerous were the slave traders.
The slave traders occupied the largest portion of the market.
Numerous tents were set up here.
The slaves were kept in iron cages within these tents.
Customers wishing to purchase slaves only needed to speak a word and they would be allowed into the tent to make their selection.
These slave traders also hung various tags outside their tents advertising the unique characteristics of their slaves. For example:
[Still worried about your personal safety? High-quality Lionman Warrior slave, only ten silver coins!]
[Human Female Slave, young and beautiful, affordable price]
[Demi, to bring you a different extraordinary experience, guests with generous budgets are welcome]
…
…
Human merchants sold Human Female Slaves.
Orc merchants also sold Orc Warrior Slaves.
Of course, there were also a small number of Orc Female Slaves for sale.
Although (Player Name) (M) found it impossible to understand what kind of person would be willing to buy an Orc Female Slave with an orc’s head and a human’s body, as they were truly ugly and had body odor.
The people who bought slaves here were basically first-hand dealers. After returning to their respective countries, they would resell the slaves at a higher price to second-hand slave owners. Some high-quality slaves would be kept as gifts to curry favor or sold to some powerful nobles for money.
As he passed by a slave trader’s tent.
(Player Name) (M) happened to see a richly dressed human noble emerge. He wore a fox mask and held a white fox in his arms. His demeanor was elegant and extraordinary, and he was followed by two imposing Sky Knights.
“What a grand display,” he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
What kind of status and position would require two Sky Knights to act as escorts?
(Player Name) (M) also noticed two fox-faced orcs in shackles following behind the noble. One had white fur and the other had red fur. Judging by their full chests, these two fox-faced orcs were likely female, their long tails dragging behind them, and their small eyes, no bigger than peanuts, were filled with emptiness and despair.
“Boss Kuruna,” the young noble was chatting and laughing with an orc merchant beside him.
“I hope when I come next time, you can still prepare such good merchandise for me. I am very satisfied with this transaction.”
As he spoke, he took out a ruby the size of a peanut from his Space Ring and casually tossed it into the orc merchant’s hand.
The orc merchant also had a fox’s head, his small eyes filled with greed and cunning, his foxy mouth stretched to his ears.
He was clearly overjoyed.
“Don’t worry, we all know you like foxes. We still have quite a few slender fox-women like this in our tribe. I will bring another batch next month.”
The orc merchant named Kuruna bowed repeatedly, his face full of servility and flattery, almost to the point of kowtowing to the young noble.
The young noble was also very satisfied with the orc merchant’s performance. He curved his lips slightly, raised his chin, and swaggered away with his two Sky Knights.
As they passed by.
(Player Name) (M) quickly made way for this young noble.
He wasn’t particularly afraid of this noble.
He was merely a weakling who hadn’t even reached level 20.
What he feared were those two fierce and menacing Sky Knights.
“The Second Prince of the Andor Empire?”
Keeping his head lowered, (Player Name) (M) silently committed this information to memory.
He watched the young noble leave from the corner of his eye, smacking his lips.
Indeed, the greater the power, the greater the wealth, and the stranger the preferences.
The King of Winter preferred Demi with beast ears and tails, but Demi still had a human-like appearance. Although they were an异族 (foreign race), they still fit human aesthetics.
However, this Second Prince of Andor was truly something else.
What was the difference between those two female fox-people and foxes with human-like limbs?
Not to mention the smelly odor emanating from them.
Even though the group had walked far away, (Player Name) (M) could still smell the scent lingering in the air, almost making him gag.
“Esteemed guest, would you like some fox-tribe girls?”
A sinister voice came from beside his ear.
(Player Name) (M) snapped out of his daze and saw that the fox-beast named Kuruna had already approached him.
Seeing (Player Name) (M)’s fair and tender skin, Kuruna immediately classified him as a traveling noble, a type of wealthy patron who were super-fat sheep. As newcomers venturing out to gain experience, they lacked knowledge and had average combat power, but they had plenty of money!
Plenty of money meant good customers!
“No, I’m not interested in your fox-tribe girls.” (Player Name) (M) took two steps back and refused with a sheepish smile.
Although Kuruna had sprayed a lot of perfume on himself, the body odor was still difficult to conceal, and it even became more terrifying when mixed with the perfume.
“Then what are you looking to buy?” Kuruna didn’t mind (Player Name) (M)’s refusal at all, changing the subject, “I have a lot of information. If there’s anything you want to buy, I can recommend shops to you, including some contraband items that are not usually seen in the market~”
“Contraband items?” (Player Name) (M) raised an eyebrow. “What contraband items?”
“Do you know about Succubi?” Kuruna smiled mysteriously.
“Already tamed Succubi~ Also, daughters of nobles from some small countries. Do you know about Parasitic Tree Fruit? We can get that too~”
(Player Name) (M) pouted at this.
Succubi were nothing special; he had already seen them. He wasn’t interested in the daughters of nobles from small countries, and he had never heard of Parasitic Tree Fruit, but he felt it might be some kind of medicinal ingredient. Perhaps Kuruna knew where to buy medicine?
He had been wandering around the market for half the day.
He hadn’t seen a single person selling potions or divine spell scrolls.
“One of my soldiers is sick. He can’t adapt to the environment here. Do you know where I can buy medicine?”
“Of course~” Kuruna nodded.
His cunning gaze swept over (Player Name) (M).
His mind had already analyzed a lot of information based on (Player Name) (M)’s words.
The soldier being sick was just an excuse; no one would believe it.
For a pampered noble to personally come out to buy medicine indicated that the sick person must be very important, most likely one of the noble’s female companions.
The inability to adapt to the environment suggested that this noble most likely came from north of the Death Desert, either the Wintery Empire or the Andor Empire.
The need to buy medicine to treat the illness indicated that this noble had no healing power around him.
So, piecing these pieces of information together.
It formed the picture of a noble with his female companion traveling alone, but now his female companion was sick, and this noble wasn’t accompanied by any guards or soldiers, either because he had none or because he had insufficient manpower.
But regardless of the reason, it sent a signal to Kuruna.
That is, this noble could be fleeced.
The noble’s female companion was bound to be a noble’s daughter, and tender-skinned human girls could fetch a good price in the market.
If she had a noble identity, she would be even more valuable.
Orc warlords loved these kinds of human girls. Not only could they use them, but they could also cook and eat them after they were done with them, making them perfect entertainment materials.
Kuruna’s eyes flashed, and a complete plan was gradually forming in its mind.
It intended to completely exploit this rookie noble who had just ventured onto the continent, leaving him with nothing.
