Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
“Nobody Does Human Things, wake up!”
Leisurely Moment shook Nobody Does Human Things’s shoulder forcefully.
Now was not the time for fantasies.
Many Free Players had already begun heading to Pine City.
Although everyone could receive a reward as long as they completed the mission conditions, arriving at Pine City first would definitely allow them to understand the situation in Pine City in advance, laying a good foundation for completing the promotion mission that followed.
But now.
Their Elite Squad, composed of ten high-level players, had not yet departed.
“What’s wrong! What’s wrong!”
Nobody Does Human Things was disoriented from being shaken.
“Is there an earthquake? Did monsters attack the city?! Don’t be scared! I can summon the King of Winter!”
He said this with a serious expression, directly taking out a special item given to him by the mission system.
[Summoning Statue of the King of Winter (Unique on the entire server)]
The golden item name showcased its noble identity, and the description “unique on the entire server” made it even more extraordinary.
Leisurely Moment looked at this golden-tier item.
He suddenly felt that Nobody Does Human Things’s earlier crazed behavior was somewhat understandable.
If he had obtained such an item, he would definitely have shown it off madly too.
“There are no monster attacks, nor is there an earthquake. I mean, Captain, please give us some advice. Are we going directly to Pine City? Do we need to make any preparations?”
Nobody Does Human Things came back to his senses.
Seeing that the other members of the squad in the room were also staring at him, he felt a bit embarrassed.
“Captain, say something!”
“Yeah!”
“Stop rubbing that statue, you’ll wear it out!”
“Cough cough…”
Seeing the excited crowd,
Nobody Does Human Things cleared his throat.
He said mysteriously,
“It’s useless for those ordinary players to run faster. What are you panicking about? I have a faster method.”
“What method?” Leisurely Moment asked suspiciously.
“Heh heh,” Nobody Does Human Things chuckled twice. “Want to know?”
Everyone nodded.
He then picked up the gleaming golden statue and held it in his hand, asking the crowd, “Do you see a black spot on my summoning statue? My eyes are blurry, and I can’t see clearly. Can you help me out?”
Leisurely Moment: “…”
Elite Squad members: “…”
Seeing Nobody Does Human Things’s expectant look, as if he wouldn’t reveal anything if they didn’t help him check, everyone could only oblige.
They carefully examined the statue as he requested.
While examining it, they also uttered flattering words.
For example, how majestic and domineering it was, and how precious and rare it was.
Of course, most of it was to praise Nobody Does Human Things for being awesome, the number one in overall strength on the entire server, and so on.
Only after Nobody Does Human Things was sufficiently flattered did
this not-so-serious player representative lift his chin and ask cheerfully, “What time is it now?”
Leisurely Moment glanced at the system time and subconsciously replied, “It’s 5:59, almost 6:00.”
Upon hearing this, Nobody Does Human Things also glanced at the system time himself.
There were still thirty seconds until 6:00.
He smiled and remained silent for a moment, then began the countdown:
“Ten.”
“Nine.”
“Eight…”
The crowd did not understand his intention.
Did 6:00 have some special meaning?
What was the connection to the mysterious method Nobody Does Human Things had mentioned?
It was during this moment of thought for the squad members.
Nobody Does Human Things’s countdown had reached its end.
“Three.”
“Two.”
“One!”
It seemed that nothing had happened.
A vein twitched on Leisurely Moment’s forehead. Just as he was about to say something, a sound of flapping leather suddenly echoed from outside the room.
Following that, a furious gale caused the curtains to shake wildly, and a table was toppled by the wind pressure. Tea and pastries were spilled all over the floor, and metal plates clattered as they fell. The wind grew more violent, to the point where it could blow the players away.
“There’s something outside the window!”
A player exclaimed.
Leisurely Moment squinted his eyes amidst the gale.
He saw Nobody Does Human Things standing by the now-broken window. Outside the window, behind him, a blue dragon flapped its broad wings, its purple dragon eyes like a pair of searchlights piercing into the room.
“Roar!”
This blue dragon let out a fierce roar when it saw someone daring to stare directly at its noble visage.
The wind pressure became even more terrifying.
The entire windowsill was blown away.
Leisurely Moment wiped the dragon’s saliva from his face, feeling a bit stunned.
Wasn’t this Bryant, the working dragon that had recently joined Winter City?
It was said that he had signed an unequal contract with the King of Winter and had a miserable life, spending his days either transporting stone, repairing roads, or cleaning the cesspool in the toilets of Winter City.
At first, the residents of Winter City were very afraid of this colossal giant dragon, but as time passed, they gradually got used to it.
It was normal for the King of Winter to do any earth-shattering deed.
What was so strange about capturing a blue dragon?
In the future, perhaps Shadow Hydra or Thunder Phoenix would also be forced to work for the King of Winter.
But how did Nobody Does Human Things invite this blue dragon over?
It was said that blue dragons had stubborn and arrogant personalities. It would be difficult to invite such a legendary creature unless one catered to its tastes.
“Bryant! What’s wrong with you? I bought this room with my own money, and now you’ve messed it up with your wind! The window is broken too, that’s twenty gold coins!”
Just as everyone was full of surprise and uncertainty,
they saw Nobody Does Human Things, who was standing at the window, shouting at the blue dragon.
“The window will be deducted from your wages, as will my floor, my table, and the breakfast and drinks I so meticulously prepared today. These all cost money!”
Nobody Does Human Things counted on his fingers for a while.
Then, he raised two fingers in anger and roared,
“The things you just destroyed are worth two hundred gold coins alone!”
“Roar! Greedy human! You think you can extort a great dragon?!”
Bryant wouldn’t believe Nobody Does Human Things’s nonsense.
He wasn’t like a white dragon, a brainless waste. He had a basic understanding of prices.
Two hundred gold coins were enough to buy a beautifully decorated villa in the most prosperous part of Winter City, complete with a butler and maids.
And that broken windowsill and broken table he just blew away were worth two hundred gold coins?
Ridiculous!
“These are old items from Winter City. You only see their dilapidation but not their historical value.”
Nobody Does Human Things sneered.
He said righteously,
“Oh, and also my pastries and drinks. Don’t be fooled by their unpretentious appearance; they are made with very rare ingredients.”
Bryant glared at the little guy in front of him.
He felt like he had heard similar words somewhere before.
But he no longer had time to think.
“If you don’t compensate me, I’ll report this matter to the King of Winter. I swear, the King of Winter will make you pay at least five thousand gold coins, and that’s not including emotional damages!”
Upon hearing that he would be reported to the King of Winter,
Bryant instinctively shivered all over.
He had no doubt that the human in front of him was telling the truth. If the King of Winter found out about this, let alone five thousand gold coins, it wouldn’t be settled for less than twenty thousand.
Thinking of this, his arrogance and temper instantly vanished.
Taking a step back leads to a broader view; harmony brings wealth.
Besides, his wages were one thousand gold coins. Even after deducting two hundred, he still had eight hundred left. All he had to do was deliver these humans to Pine City at full speed.
