Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Another side, the situation on the battlefield gradually turned into a tug-of-war.
And the scales of victory were tipping towards the Golem Soldier Legion.
Balner’s pale complexion turned rosy again.
That’s right, he was back in business.
“Magic-type Golem Soldiers, give me a volley in the three o’clock direction, let these pig-faced foreigners know that magic is the world’s number one productive force!”
Although the Golem Soldiers had their own internal command system, they were still unable to disobey Balner’s orders.
Thousands of magic-type Golem Soldiers immediately adjusted their cannons. Pale blue spell arrays unfolded, and accompanied by the humming sound of spells in operation, dense arcane missiles were shot like mortars towards the players’ positions, causing chaos and overwhelming the players’ legions in the three o’clock direction. The ground was even plowed by the aftershocks.
“Very good!” Balner felt comfortable, finding it immensely satisfying. He then commanded,
“All ranged Golem Soldiers, do you see the twelve o’clock direction? Take down that group of priests floating in the sky casting Healing Spells!!”
“Swish swish swish!”
Another wave of dense armor-piercing arrows followed.
Many Priest Players who couldn’t dodge in time were shot down.
Only a small number of high-level players managed to evade the armor-piercing arrows with their agile aerial maneuvers.
As for why the Players were floating to heal, it was mainly because floating provided a wider field of vision.
More often than not, when standing on the ground, they could only heal those in front of them.
They were powerless to help players engaging the enemy at a distance. However, once they floated, they could effectively cast Healing Spells precisely on those who truly needed it.
“Keke!” After this wave, Balner’s ego completely swelled. “The Foreigner warriors eroded by the Old Gods are nothing special!”
Now he was confident he could entirely defeat these Foreigner warriors.
In his mind, he could almost see himself being promoted to a higher position, receiving more valuable rewards, improving his Mage realm, and ultimately living longer.
However, Balner’s triumph didn’t last long.
Accompanied by battle cries, a group of Foreigner warriors, covered in buffs and wearing black heavy armor, charged down from both sides of the canyon.
Their numbers were not as large as the Foreigner Legion on the battlefield, but their momentum was no less impressive.
Balner recognized the buff magic on these black-armored Foreigner warriors.
The cyan whirlwind circling them was Gale Force.
The yellowish, semi-transparent armor plates were Rock Armor.
These Foreigner warriors did not wear pig-face masks, revealing their grayish complexions. This was Stone Skin Technique, which increased defense and reduced speed.
The golden feathers occasionally swirling under their feet were Light Foot Technique.
With the buffs of Gale Force and Light Foot Technique, the speed reduction effect of Stone Skin Technique was completely offset.
Their speed was even greater, like phantoms.
The flames burning in their eyes were Berserk, which also enhanced strength and speed.
A small, pale blue storm hammer was revolving around their arms; that was Divine Power.
There were at least six buff spells he could identify, and some other magical glows were concealed.
The reason why the Shield Boar Knights previously had many buffs was mostly due to the Kaimen Shield Boar.
As a huge monster, the Shield Boar had thick skin and a Magic Core within its brain.
This Magic Core acted like a natural pressure regulator, capable of withstanding many buff spells.
But humans were different. Humans did not have Magic Cores. Buff spells and healing spells were distinct. When buff spells were stacked to a certain extent, the magic elements surrounding the recipient would impose immense pressure.
For warriors, three or four buff spells of the same tier were already the limit.
Any more buff spells would exert pressure on their spirit and body, causing immense strain. They might perish before a battle concluded.
For Mages, they could generally withstand only two or three buff spells.
Mages generally possessed strong spirits, so the pressure from buff spells wasn’t as severe on their minds as it was for warriors.
However, the simultaneous appearance of buff spells from different elemental alignments would lead to chaotic magical elements in the surroundings.
This, in turn, would cause the magical elements within the Mage’s body to run amok.
Subsequently, the Mage might explode like an overinflated balloon.
Yet, what Balner was witnessing now were these Foreigner warriors stacked with at least eight buff spells.
Setting aside how Foreigner Mages and Foreigner Priests learned so many buff spells,
these Foreigner warriors charging down were inherently abnormal.
“They are monsters corrupted by the Old Gods, so it’s understandable that they are abnormal.”
Balner comforted his fragmented heart.
There was no time to think about such things now; the most important thing was to stop this group of heavy-armored Foreigner soldiers.
But could the Golem Soldiers truly block them?
Within those few seconds of contemplation, Golem Soldiers and the black-armored Foreigner warriors had already clashed.
One could see that the heavy-armored Foreigner warriors, under the effect of multiple buffs, easily sent a melee Golem Soldier flying with just a slight collision.
Then, they pounced on the Golem Soldier like wolves, pinning it down and rendering it immobile.
Next, they raised their weapons and inserted them into the V-shaped visor of the Golem Soldier’s helmet.
Gripping the hilt with both hands, they twisted forcefully.
With a “crack.”
The Soul Core of this Golem Soldier shattered.
