Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
“Enough nonsense!” the Young Woman-faced Great Sage sneered, magic power flowing through her hands. The other sages beside her also assumed offensive stances. With arrogance etched on her face, she declared:
“Our Kalunka Empire is also known as the Land of Truth, for we are never wrong. Since we say you are a prisoner of the Old God, then you are a prisoner of the Old God. Die obediently!”
With that, an Azure spell array unfolded on the ground.
The ambient temperature plummeted instantly, and active frost elements left a layer of white frost on the soil.
“Freeze!” the Young Woman-faced Great Sage guided her magic, grandly proclaiming, “Sleep forever in the ice and frost!”
Her casting speed was exceptionally fast. Before the King of Winter could reach her, she had already completed her spell. A rather unremarkable frost ray shot from her staff.
But do not underestimate this frost ray.
This was the ‘Extreme Cold Ray,’ claimed to be capable of temporarily freezing even Giant Dragons.
Although it was only a high-level spell, not a forbidden spell, its power was undiminished. Especially since the caster was a Great Sage with a high affinity for frost elements, the damage and control effects were naturally elevated.
The Young Woman-faced Great Sage’s idea was simple.
For mages fighting knights, it was all about control.
Preventing these knights from closing in.
Once the knights were completely controlled,
They would be nothing more than fish on a chopping board, waiting to be slaughtered.
Her plan was perfectly laid out. The six Great Sages surrounding her had already prepared their most lethal attack spells: Thunder Burst, Space Rupture, Gale’s Great Cutting Technique, Body Incineration, and so on. These were mostly single-target spells with extremely fast channeling speeds. If the first wave of control didn’t kill him immediately, they would follow up with another.
This kind of assault would normally spell doom for any other knight, but the King of Winter was different.
The moment the Extreme Cold Ray hit him,
Xi Wei did feel his movements slow down slightly, but the sensation was not very pronounced. Furthermore, stimulated by the intense cold, the Red Dragon Bloodline within him began to surge.
His long years of warfare and the plundering ability attached to his War Divinity had continuously enhanced his overall strength, including the power of his dragon blood.
His Red Dragon Bloodline became purer after every major battle.
By now, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he was half a Red Dragon wearing human skin.
The only difference between him and a Red Dragon was that he hadn’t yet displayed many draconic features.
“I hit him!”
The Young Woman-faced Great Sage exclaimed excitedly.
But the next moment, her expression turned grim.
The King of Winter was actually charging forward, pushing through the Extreme Cold Ray. His speed not only didn’t decrease but began to accelerate.
The heavy Knight Boots struck the icy ground, producing a resonant drumbeat that seemed to strike their very hearts. Seeing this, everyone couldn’t help but feel a chill.
The Players, however, couldn’t help but cheer.
Simultaneously, Xi Wei cast Radiant Bastion.
A vast golden Aura spread out from beneath his feet.
Then, a small golden shield appeared on each Player, guarding their chests.
This skill was also amplified by his War Divinity.
Not only was the range of the Aura wider,
But the resistance bonus it provided to all allies within the Aura was also stronger than before.
Take, for instance, the current situation.
Players who were previously struggling to survive Hellfire could now at least escape the burning area. The damage per tick had dropped from four to five thousand to a mere eight to nine hundred.
For the Players,
The soul-burning property of Hellfire did not affect them.
Nor did they feel pain. This Crimson flame was merely a high-damage, difficult-to-extinguish special fire-elemental skill.
With Xi Wei’s assistance, the Players began to continue their assault on the remaining Golem Soldier Legion.
“How is this possible! Why didn’t the Extreme Cold Ray freeze him?”
The Young Woman-faced Great Sage shrieked in alarm.
This situation could only mean the King of Winter possessed strong frost resistance.
Or perhaps he had some treasure that could negate her control.
As for complete elemental magic resistance, she dared not entertain the thought.
Complete elemental magic resistance was the exclusive domain of Legendary creatures.
But no matter how she looked at him, the King of Winter appeared undeniably human.
He had no horns on his head.
No tail on his backside.
He was just an overly young Champion Knight.
“Try controlling him with the Abyssal Swamp and Sandstorm spell,” she ordered through gritted teeth, her voice tinged with anxiety.
The Great Sages beside her immediately complied.
One earth mage began channeling Abyssal Swamp, while another wind mage channeled Sandstorm. The Young Woman-faced Great Sage continued to cast the Extreme Cold Ray, pouring all her effort into increasing the output.
The Abyssal Swamp made movement incredibly difficult.
The Sandstorm robbed them of their vision, and the terrifying wind pressure also had a slowing effect.
Coupled with the Extreme Cold Ray,
Three control spells were fully cast upon the King of Winter. The Young Woman-faced Great Sage refused to believe he could still move freely within them.
Under the shroud of the sandstorm,
They could no longer see what was happening within.
“Did we control him?”
“I don’t know!”
“There’s no way he’s still not controlled after this…”
The sages murmured amongst themselves.
Suddenly, the earth mage’s face contorted.
He almost dropped his staff.
“Cast Space Great Rupture towards the 9 o’clock direction, quickly!”
He roared, “Hurry, I can’t hold on…”
Before he could finish his sentence,
“Boom!”
The King of Winter’s sword cleaved through the sandstorm.
A golden Qi Slash, over ten meters high, cut past the earth mage’s face.
Blood splashed everywhere,
Instantly bisecting him.
