Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
“You’ve misunderstood!”
Xi Wei gave a dry laugh, explaining, “There was no night raid at all. Every night, I’m either with you or with Ruo Yi. A night raid? Utter nonsense! She just got drunk and couldn’t keep her mouth shut.”
Loli thought about it and realized Bai Yao would have had no opportunity for a night raid.
She pursed her lips and smiled, the pressure from her hands massaging Xi Wei’s shoulders softening.
“No, the day before yesterday, Master wasn’t with Loli, nor was he with me,” Ruo Yi said with a slight frown, suddenly interjecting.
That night was supposed to be her shift.
But it happened to be her period.
As it turned out, even the strongest women had to yield to their menstrual cycle. What good was time stopping or space-time travel? She still felt uncomfortable, so she took the day off.
“Hmm?” Loli blinked, and the speed of her soft hands massaging increased slightly.
“That night wasn’t Bai Yao either! That night it was…”
Xi Wei vehemently denied it and immediately slammed on the brakes.
“Who was it?” Loli and Ruo Yi asked in unison.
“Ahem, it was…” Xi Wei’s gaze darted around, and he got stuck.
“It was Connie~” Connie’s soft, sweet voice came from under the conference table.
Connie emerged from between Xi Wei’s legs.
Xi Wei was startled.
He almost fell off his chair, but fortunately, Loli was behind him, and as Legendary Knights, they reacted extremely quickly, immediately steadying the wobbling chair.
“Connie! What were you doing under the table?!”
Connie rubbed her sleep-heavy eyes and yawned, “I, I was sleeping under the table. I just got woken up by Sister Bai Yao’s loud voice, and then I was listening to you all talk.”
Seeing Loli and Ruo Yi’s strange looks, she quickly explained earnestly, “That night, I went to give Darling… uh, Master, some Dragon… uh, milk! You guys have had it too! It’s super delicious!”
“So that’s what happened.”
Both Loli and Ruo Yi believed Connie implicitly.
Connie had always been very well-behaved.
Besides, Xi Wei wouldn’t do anything to Connie, given how small she was. It would be perfectly reasonable to say Xi Wei was her father if they were out together.
“Connie, tell me, were there any other maids in Master’s room that night?”
“No! It was just Connie! Connie gave Master a lot of Dragon… uh, milk!” Connie blinked her big eyes, looking completely innocent.
“It seems we misunderstood Master.”
A trace of apology appeared in Ruo Yi’s eyes. She gently squeezed her right wrist with her left hand, deciding to reward Xi Wei handsomely that night.
“Hee hee, Master is the best~”
Loli leaned over and pecked Xi Wei on the cheek, her heart feeling sweet, like it had been filled with a marshmallow.
Xi Wei was still the same Xi Wei.
No matter what, he would never lie to them.
In fact, Xi Wei hadn’t lied.
That night, only Connie had come to find him out of boredom.
“Master, I want to go too.”
Connie’s soft little face wore a hint of seeking praise. She had just helped Xi Wei out of a tight spot.
“No!” Xi Wei refused without a second thought.
This time entering Kalun, he might not be able to guarantee Connie’s safety. After all, Connie could only unleash her full combat power by transforming into her dragon form, but as a dragon, she would be too conspicuous and easily targeted by the mages of Kalun.
“But if we don’t go, the milk bottle will keep producing new milk. If Master doesn’t clean the nipple regularly, the milk bottle will burst, and if the milk bottle bursts…” Connie gestured with her short, stubby hands, her mouth pouting in distress.
“Stop! I’ll take you. Just stop talking!”
Xi Wei felt a splitting headache.
Although Loli and Ruo Yi weren’t suspicious, he still felt a knot in his stomach. If Connie accidentally let something slip, his reputation as the King of Winter would be ruined. What would Ruo Yi and Loli think of him then? They would surely consider him a pervert.
However, going or not going.
He had to set three rules for Connie.
“You can go, but you must abide by three rules.”
“Okay, okay!” As long as she could go with him, that was enough. She was mainly afraid that Xi Wei would starve himself from not drinking dragon milk, or become malnourished.
Dragon milk was a great tonic and should be drunk daily!
So, she immediately patted her small chest and promised,
“Whatever rules you have, Master, just tell me. Connie will definitely follow them seriously!”
“First,” Xi Wei held up one finger.
“You are not allowed to transform into your dragon form without my permission. We won’t need mounts after entering Kalun unless absolutely necessary.”
“Okay!” Connie nodded obediently.
“Second, don’t run around. Stay with me, Loli, and the others the whole time. You also can’t take action unless I ask for your help.”
“No problem!” Connie agreed again.
“Third, you don’t have to deliver the dragon… uh, milk to me every morning. I’ll come to you to get it myself when I have time.”
This was mainly to avoid Ruo Yi and Loli.
After all, Connie’s problem also needed to be resolved; they couldn’t just leave it be.
“Mmm…” This point made Connie hesitate for a moment. However, she wasn’t stupid and quickly understood the key points, so she nodded in agreement.
Connie was being quite well-behaved today.
Xi Wei felt relieved and couldn’t help but pinch her soft cheek.
“So, the personnel are set. Does anyone have any objections?”
Everyone shook their heads.
“Then that’s all for today. Everyone can go back and rest.”
As soon as he finished speaking.
A knight walked to the entrance of the Conference Hall and whispered a few words to Clemon.
Xi Wei paused, his gaze drifting over to them, sensing that something was about to happen.
As expected.
Clemon walked over with a grave expression.
“Your Majesty, an elf from the Emerald Forest requests an audience. She says her name is Adenasi.”
That name was very familiar.
Xi Wei frowned and thought for a moment.
He finally remembered when he entered the Emerald Forest to borrow a Sacred Artifact, an Elf Elder in silver armor had tried to stop him.
Later, the Elven Empress told him.
That hot-tempered elder was named Adenasi.
Her background was very tragic, and she had deep grudges with humans.
But why would Adenasi, who was incompatible with humans, come all the way to his Winter City?
The journey from the Emerald Forest to Winter City was not short.
It would take nearly a month to ride there.
Xi Wei, with his maids, arrived at the castle’s anTechamber and met the Elf Elder.
However, compared to when he first met her in the Emerald Forest, Adenasi had lost her former spirit and sharpness.
Her silver armor was tattered and damaged.
Through the torn pieces of armor, torn wounds could be seen within. These wounds covered almost every part of her body. If most of them hadn’t already scabbed over, she would likely be a bloody mess by now.
She knelt on the ground.
Her blunted long sword was stuck in front of her, and weakness and pain made her face deathly pale. Her dishevelled appearance was like that of a stray dog.
