Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 80: Weakened
“Hey, hey, stop taking screenshots, hurry up and look!”
“Huh? The city gate is open?”
Under the surprised gazes of the Players, the previously closed gate of Winter City slowly opened.
Most players didn’t react. The defending side held the advantage; why would they open the city gate and launch a proactive attack?
However, Avatars and other player representatives quickly guessed Xi Wei’s intentions.
“The Lord of Eagle Territory intends to destroy our resurrection points. The last time in Black River Territory, he must have seen that we had temporary resurrection points.”
“And…”
As Avatar spoke, he curled his lips and stealthily typed into the public chat:
“Our Temporary Resurrection Crystals are already quite conspicuous. The protagonist Ye Hao is standing beside them like a 36-watt light bulb. With him reflecting the light, it’s like three big light bulbs. The Lord of Eagle Territory isn’t blind…”
“Brothers, pull back some people to protect the crystals. Although we brought quite a few, once they’re gone, they’re gone. Plus, setting up a new crystal requires a thirty-second cooldown.”
Soon, half of the veteran players followed the order and returned to protect the crystals.
They also noticed that the guards on the city wall had decreased significantly, and the pressure of attacking the city had lessened. Protecting the resurrection point was now the most important matter.
The hoist for the city gate was lowered, and the hard obsidian elemental magic city gate slammed down on the ground with a “bang,” kicking up clouds of dust.
A deafening sound of footsteps followed, shaking the very ground.
The Players widened their eyes and looked up. Beneath the majestic Winter City, a neat formation appeared. The mighty Eagle Banner fluttered proudly in the sky, rustling in the wind.
The Crusaders’ shining armor gleamed with dazzling light. They held their long swords tightly in their right hands, placed over their chests. The blades emitted a cold, sharp glint, pointing directly at the sky.
They held their shields in their left hands, positioned in front of them, and even the height at which they held their shields was identical.
They moved as one, their gazes within their helmets equally cold and indifferent.
In front of the formation, the Lord of Eagle Territory, clad in Dragon Crystal Armor and wearing a helmet, cast a fierce gaze at the Players. A long HP bar stretched across the top of his head, the scarlet threat level flashing. A killing aura, like a monstrous wave, surged upward.
Looking down from the high altitude of the battlefield.
The rigid, orderly, and still Winter City army formation stood in stark contrast to the haphazard, constantly shifting blob of Players.
The air hung heavy for a moment, and the Players felt their lips grow dry.
Some quick-witted Players had already used Appraisal Technique and posted screenshots in the public chat:
[Name: Reyner]
[Identity: Crusader]
[Strength: Swordsman Level 18]
[Skills: Shield Bash, Formation Momentum]
[Equipment: Crusader Shield, Crusader Long Sword, Crusader Standard Armor]
[Threat Level: Normal ~ Difficult]
[Eagle Territory Reputation: 1 (They are inconspicuous, but they are the Lord’s sharp sword)]
They could only see the Crusaders’ information because the Player who took the screenshot was higher level than the Crusaders. However, when they looked at the Lord of Eagle Territory’s information, it was still a mass of glaring question marks.
[Lord of Eagle Territory – Xi Wei Jinshi (Skull Icon)]
[Sky Knight – Level 52 – Nightmare]
It was the same familiar formula, the same familiar taste, the same familiar Nightmare. Only now, the word Nightmare, which had been slightly red before, had turned pitch black.
“Uh… Brothers, don’t be scared. We have more people now… we can swarm him to death.”
“That’s right!”
After a brief silence in the public channel, accompanied by one or two encouraging messages, the Players also reacted:
“Brothers, we’re all level 15 on average, and we still have a thousand veteran players over level 20. What do we have to fear?”
“Don’t forget our mission! We have to rescue our Saintess!”
“For the Saintess!”
“Death is like the wind, always by my side!”
“Solo BOSS, explode equipment!”
“Rua! Rua!”
The Players’ morale immediately surged, and their gazes towards Xi Wei were once again filled with fighting spirit.
However, Ye Hao was not doing well. Seeing that the Lord of Eagle Territory had broken through to become a Sky Knight was already disgusting enough. The key issue was, what was going on with this old man blocking him?
Why had he also broken through to become a Sky Knight?
Who was cheating?!
Looking at the old Knight Clemon, whose Qi was surging in front of him, Ye Hao couldn’t help but curse the Grand Will in his heart.
“Seriously, with this, you’re going to invade the world? Your crappy world would be doing well if it wasn’t invaded.”
“Do you even know your own capabilities?”
Buzz—
“Ye Hao!” A supreme and majestic voice suddenly echoed in Ye Hao’s mind, startling him and causing him to tremble. He couldn’t help but pray silently:
He hoped that the words he had just cursed hadn’t been heard.
“The connection between My World and this world has a sliver of a breakthrough, so I can temporarily modify the rules of this world for a period of time.”
Behind Ye Hao, a blurry projection appeared, visible only to him. It seemed unstable, with parts of its body slowly disintegrating.
The projection held a blue planet in its hand, and only the brilliant divine light in its eyes could be vaguely seen.
The Grand existence looked towards the Lord of Eagle Territory in the distant formation and murmured:
“Is this variable your means of self-salvation, Cain? If even after exhausting all your efforts to rewind time there’s only this much progress, then you will ultimately be unable to escape the fate of destruction.”
The Grand Will flickered. Ye Hao suddenly felt that the surrounding environment had become incompatible. An overwhelming pressure closed in, as if he had become an anomaly in this world.
The Grand Will’s projection began to collapse faster. Its eyes flashed, and with a raise of its hand, a beam of white light shot towards the Players who were confronting the Lord of Eagle Territory.
After doing all this, it shattered, turning into motes of light and disappearing.
The sense of incongruity and pressure around them also dissipated.
At the same time, the Players received a notification from the mission system:
[Main Quest BOSS discovered: Lord of Eagle Territory Xi Wei Jinshi]
[Due to the significant level gap, correction is commencing…]
[Correction complete!]
[Attacks from Players on Xi Wei Jinshi will now deal true damage.]
…
“Holy crap! True damage!”
“What does that mean? So, we won’t be missing all our attacks on the Lord of Eagle Territory?”
“Probably. Before, we couldn’t even damage him. Besides his high equipment and level, it was also because his whole body was protected by Qi.”
“Now, according to the mission, his Qi protection mechanism should have been weakened.”
“Woohoo!”
“I knew it. How could a game release a mission we couldn’t possibly complete? This makes more sense.”
Unlike the Players’ excitement and joy, Xi Wei felt an inexplicable chill run through him. He had a premonition that something bad had happened to him.
He had been weakened, not in attack, but in defense.
This meant that the Players swarming him to death would no longer be a mere fantasy…
[Brothers, take a look at the ads, send some support with love, and those who can afford it can also send flowers~]
