Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 616: The Little Plans of the Personal Maid and the Head Maid
In the castle’s dining hall, Loli and Ruo Yi were enjoying their lunch.
They had arrived early, so for the time being, it was just the two of them.
“It’s quite strange. Master went out early in the morning and hasn’t returned yet. He didn’t say where he was going…” Loli propped her chin on her hand, looking somewhat troubled. In front of her was a fruit salad, a plate of shelled pine nuts prepared by the chef, and a few smoked chicken legs.
Ruo Yi calmly sipped her coffee.
“Don’t worry. He probably just went out to relax. He took his armor and his bow and arrow, so he’ll likely return with prey this afternoon.”
“Sigh, Master used to call us to go out and play with him. Now he’s gone out alone…” Loli listlessly used her fork to try and spear a corn kernel from the smoked chicken but couldn’t for a long time.
“Men need freedom. Don’t keep him too tightly leashed.”
Ruo Yi remained very composed.
She and Xi Wei had “lived” together for a thousand years; theoretically, she was already a seasoned wife, possessing ample experience on how to handle her husband and how to make him like her more.
Men couldn’t be tied down too tightly.
Especially an Emperor like Xi Wei, who had many excellent girls around him.
Sooner or later, they would all be “taken.”
No matter how much she and Loli tried to guard him, it would only buy them time. Actually, buying time was good too, as it would at least help filter out those who genuinely liked him. If they truly liked him, it wouldn’t be a problem to have more sisters by Xi Wei’s side; after all, Xi Wei had the Red Dragon Bloodline as a foundation, and the two of them were far from enough to satisfy him.
Just as Loli was about to ask Ruo Yi for some advice, Bai Yao rushed in in a panic.
She clutched her skirt, her pretty face flushed red. She looked around and then her gaze locked onto Ruo Yi and Loli.
“Bai Yao, what’s wrong?”
Loli noticed Bai Yao’s gaze and a gentle smile appeared on her face.
Bai Yao took a deep breath, lowered her head, her body stiff. Like a puppet controlled by strings, she walked up to Loli and Ruo Yi.
“I-I-I… I’m sorry!”
She bowed 90 degrees but didn’t consider the distance between herself and the table.
“Bang!” Her forehead hit the table.
“Ouch…”
Bai Yao clutched her swollen forehead, her face in pain.
Loli and Ruo Yi were also startled by her actions.
“Uh, what’s wrong, Bai Yao? Speak slowly, don’t rush…”
Loli stood up and carefully checked the swelling on Bai Yao’s forehead. She reached out and gently stroked it. Healing energy softly spread over the area, and the swelling quickly disappeared.
But Bai Yao still had a tearful look.
It wasn’t that she was being dramatic.
She just felt that Loli was so kind and good to all the maids. Yet, she had immorally “stolen” something, and she felt awkward and guilty about it.
Even though this “something” was practically handed to her to steal.
“I… I…”
Bai Yao’s face was flushed with embarrassment, and she couldn’t utter a complete sentence for a long time.
“Did someone bully you? Tell me, and I’ll deal with them.”
Ruo Yi put down her coffee, a cold killing intent flashed in her golden eyes.
Upon hearing this, Bai Yao trembled her lips. How could she explain? Was Xi Wei’s behavior considered bullying?
It seemed so. After all, he had done so many shameful things, he had practically bullied his way to her doorstep, with only one step left. How could it not be considered bullying?
But Bai Yao was certain that Ruo Yi wouldn’t deal with Xi Wei.
And dealing with Xi Wei wasn’t her true intention; she would also feel heartbroken about it.
“No, it’s not that… No one bullied me… This matter, this matter is actually related to Master…”
Loli raised an eyebrow, a bad premonition flashing in her heart. She exchanged a glance with Ruo Yi, thinking, “Xi Wei wouldn’t forcibly do that to Bai Yao, would he?”
What should they do?
If Bai Yao liked Xi Wei, it would be easier to handle. But if she didn’t, then this kind of behavior…
Loli felt she had guessed the situation pretty much correctly!
No wonder Xi Wei was so out of sorts today, disappearing early in the morning and not returning even by noon.
So, he went out to seek refuge?
“Cough, cough, this is not the place to talk, Ruo Yi.”
Loli gave Ruo Yi a knowing look.
Ruo Yi understood immediately. With a gentle wave of her hand, a golden clock materialized beneath their feet, instantly transporting them back to where Ruo Yi had been half an hour ago, which was her room.
“Alright, no one else is here now.”
Loli cleared her throat, her gaze more serious than ever, which also put immense pressure on Bai Yao.
“I already have a general understanding of this matter!”
“Huh?” Bai Yao looked stunned.
What did Loli understand? She hadn’t said anything yet.
“I sympathize with and regret your encounter, but there’s one thing I must make clear to you, Bai Yao. First and foremost, I am the Master’s maid, then the maid of Winter City, and lastly, a member of the Demi. Therefore, I am completely on the Master’s side in this matter. Do you understand?”
“I, I…” Bai Yao didn’t understand. She didn’t understand anything.
She understood the meaning of every word Loli said, but when pieced together, it left her utterly confused.
Seeing Bai Yao’s astonished expression, Loli thought she couldn’t accept it and softened her tone, trying to comfort her.
“The Master secretly doing that to you is indeed… well, it’s neither right nor wrong. After all, we are his maids. And he is the Emperor. It’s already rumored among the people that the maid group is the Emperor’s harem. So, it was only a matter of time before the Master did that to you. Since it was fated, why feel angry and sad?”
“Indeed, Loli speaks sense. Whether it happens early or late, it’s still something. Once the raw rice is cooked, feelings can be cultivated slowly.”
Ruo Yi somehow conjured another cup of coffee and calmly took a sip.
Bai Yao: ???
The development of this situation had deviated slightly from the track.
And she realized she might have underestimated Loli and Ruo Yi.
“Anyway, that’s the logic. If you can’t accept it either, Master will arrange a room for you in Winter City, or give you some money, and you can go wherever you want. But as a Demi, as a maid of Winter Fort, and as a good sister, I hope you can stay… and serve Master with us!”
Loli looked at Bai Yao with sincerity, her hand already holding Bai Yao’s.
She had already decided that if Bai Yao refused, she would knock her out and then send her to Xi Wei’s room at night.
Since she had already had physical contact with Master, how could she be allowed to go to someone else?
Call her a scoundrel or selfish, but this was the rule for the maids of Winter Fort.
She was the personal maid, and Ruo Yi was the head maid. They made the decisions!
“I, I think you must have misunderstood…”
Bai Yao’s pretty face was almost as red as a monkey’s backside. So all this time, these two highest-ranking maids had been plotting such a thing.
Although it was absurd, it truly made her breathe a sigh of relief.
“Actually, Master and I haven’t done anything yet…”
Bai Yao didn’t dare to look at Loli and Ruo Yi’s eyes, her voice trembling as she timidly said,
“I just wanted to say that I, I, I like Master, and last night, Master also agreed… So, I’ve come today to apologize to you!”
“I’m sorry!”
Bai Yao’s eyes welled up with tears, and she bowed again, shouting hysterically,
“Let me stay by Master’s side too! Please!”
