Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 685: The Abyss Gate
The Orcs’ suicidal offensive persisted for several waves.
During this time, Kulkul silently observed the city walls, meticulously calculating the attack rhythm of the Magic Cannons and Golem Mechs.
As evening approached, a third of the Orc army had been annihilated, yet Erlendara still stood firm. However, half of the silver-white city walls were now smeared with the Orcs’ filthy blood. Finally, at the precise moment when the twilight sun met the horizon.
The Orc King Kulkul’s eyes flashed, and he abruptly raised his scepter!
“Uzulada-yhhhahenf-wopkenda……”
The Giant Golems were now recharging, and almost all the Magic Cannons were changing their Magic Crystals.
This was the opportunity.
It was an opportunity he had built with the lives of tens of thousands of Orcs, steering Erlendara’s defensive rhythm in the direction he desired.
The Orc King’s desolate chant echoed above the battlefield.
Blitz, the defending general of Erlendara, frowned, a bad premonition creeping into his heart.
The last ray of sunset disappeared.
All the defending soldiers on Erlendara’s city walls felt an inexplicable dread surge within them at that moment.
It was as if something terrifying was about to happen.
A Horrifying feeling spread within their hearts like a pitch-black haze.
“Abyss Gate, Open——!!”
Kulkul’s chant reached its final syllable.
At that instant, it was as if Pandora’s Box had been opened. Everyone, including the charging Orcs, felt their hearts lurch. They turned their heads and saw, in the center of the battlefield littered with corpses, the pitch-black soil stained with filthy blood split open with a hideous grin.
Lava spat from the grin.
It was the open gate of hell.
“Roar——!!!”
A ferocious roar seemed to echo in everyone’s hearts, drowning out the clamor of the battlefield, the ragged breaths, and everyone’s heartbeats.
The world fell silent.
There was only the heavy tread of a colossal beast emerging from the Abyss Gate.
Sayaagana—one of the fierce generals under the Beast God Sotan.
The Legendary-grade Hell Three-Headed Dog responded to Kulkul’s summon.
Along with it came a large number of demons from The Fifth Layer of the Abyss.
Imps, Succubi, Balrogs, Horned Demons… Their figures instantly covered half the battlefield, and they charged towards Erlendara without pause.
“Sacrifices!!”
Sayaagana, bathed in Hellfire, glared ferociously at Kulkul with wolf-like eyes.
“Your sacrifices are all the living beings of Erlendara.”
Kulkul knelt on one knee, his hands flat on the ground, and said respectfully.
“Not enough!”
The greedy Hell Three-Headed Dog’s gaze fell upon the Orcs.
“Let me devour ten thousand Orc soldiers!”
Kulkul glanced back at his loyal Orc legion, then at the impregnable Erlendara. Finally, gritting his teeth, he closed his eyes.
“Fine!”
A gust of foul wind swept past, and the mournful cries of Orc warriors could be heard from behind.
The Legendary-grade Hell Three-Headed Dog, like a wolf hunting in a sheep pen, its sharp teeth devoured the bodies and souls of the Orc warriors, the “crunch crunch” of chewing sounds Horrifying.
“Enough——!!”
Kulkul opened his eyes, turned, and glared furiously at the Hell Three-Headed Dog, which was trying to push its luck.
Baring its teeth, it cursed fiercely:
“We are both citizens of Lord Sotan. If you merely treat my Orcs as toys and food to be toyed with at any time, I will not only inform my Lord, but I will also let you taste the power of a Legendary-grade Beast King!”
Hearing this, Sayaagana retracted its claws and teeth that were still reaching for the Orcs.
It cast a fierce glare at Kulkul, then turned and charged towards Erlendara.
“Roar——!!!”
Accompanying its roar, squadrons of furious demons emerged from the Abyss Gate.
They pushed the hideous Hell Chaos Cannons, which looked like living beings, onto the highlands built by rock demons on the battlefield.
Then, they unceremoniously stuffed small devils into the cannon muzzles. Accompanied by the devils’ screams and the sound of a meat grinder tearing flesh and blood within the Hell Cannons, Hellfire was produced in the cannon barrels. Afterward, the shattered flesh and blood of the small devils, carrying the Hellfire, transformed into fireballs that rained down, crossing countless demons and Orcs, and smashing fiercely against Erlendara’s city walls.
The faint blue shield was as ineffective as if it didn’t exist, offering no protection against the Hellfire.
After fighting for an entire afternoon, the city walls of Erlendara sustained casualties for the first time.
It was a soldier operating a Magic Cannon.
The Hellfire only touched his fingers, but within a minute, it had burned his entire body.
No matter how his colleagues used water spells or ice spells, they couldn’t extinguish it.
By the time they remembered to use Holy Light and Holy Water,
the soldier had already turned into a pile of ash emitting a smell of sulfur and rot.
More casualties followed as the Hellfire Cannons, proving unstoppable, rapidly killed the living forces on the city walls.
Following this, a sky-shattering roar accompanied by an earthquake reverberated, and the entire Erlendara trembled.
Some soldiers saw flames a hundred feet high erupting from the eastern city wall, with Magic Cannon barrels and severed limbs of Humans flying everywhere.
Then the entire city wall shook again.
“Bang——!!!” One of the Giant Golems forming the city wall toppled to the ground.
“The wall has fallen!” some soldiers shouted.
Blitz, floating in the air, frowned, witnessing everything below the city walls.
It was the Legendary-grade Hell Three-Headed Dog. It had first melted the lower limbs of a Giant Golem and then, with all its might, it had smashed a large gap in the eastern city wall. Now, countless Demon armies were pouring through the opened breach, launching an assault into Erlendara.
“Defend Erlendara!”
A thunderous roar echoed from within the city.
Blitz’s frown eased, and a look of composure appeared on his face.
The demons entering the city could not stir up too much trouble, because Erlendara’s outer walls were always just the first line of defense, and although they appeared formidable, they were not the strongest.
Inside the city walls, Golem Knights, led by the Silver Wing Legion, formed a silver-white sword and launched a powerful counterattack against the clawing and pawing demons.
A single charge annihilated the vanguard of demons, stepping on ashes and flames.
Two Champion Knights and two Star Source Mages guarded the breach, while the logistics units immediately carried out rapid repairs on the city wall. At this time, the remaining Giant Golems and Magic Cannons had all been fully charged.
The Hell Three-Headed Dog still tried to charge recklessly, but after taking a sword from a Giant Golem, its back was torn open, and it could only retreat with its tail between its legs, wailing, waiting for the next opportunity to attack the city walls.
“Useless!” Kulkul snorted coldly.
Even after devouring ten thousand Orc warriors, it had failed to breach the city walls. How could he not be angry?
Sayaagana did not bare its teeth at Kulkul this time. It hid within the Abyss Gate, its cold gaze fixed on the city walls, obviously harboring a grudge for the sword strike.
