Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 733: Chaos Before Hades City
【Fear Demon King 10086’s Favorability Towards You -20】
“Human, are you playing with me?”
The Bald Head reverted to its original form.
Flames of evil spewed from its pair of sinister green eyes, glaring at Aryk.
“My original form is the most perfect!” it roared with dissatisfaction. “It’s true that we obeyed the King of Winter’s command to help you, but that doesn’t mean I won’t jam your head into your anus after we’re done!”
Aryk chuckled awkwardly.
He figured he was probably the only player whose favorability with the Bald Head was dropping.
“My Lord Demon, let’s go. All the mistakes are mine, please don’t take it to heart.” Aryk quickly apologized to the Fear Demon King with a sincere expression.
Seeing Aryk’s good attitude, the Bald Head’s expression improved slightly.
It crossed its arms, tilted its chin up, and said:
“Less nonsense! Lead the way!”
…
Despite several twists and turns, Aryk finally arrived at his territory – Hades City – before dusk.
This place truly lived up to its reputation as a desolate land.
Little grew around the city, only barren Gobi Desert. The sky was overcast, as if even the blue skies and white clouds disdained this place. Thin sunlight pierced through the clouds in weak beams. An eagle spread its wings, passing through them, letting out a sharp and melodious cry.
Hades City was vast.
Its exterior resembled a multi-tiered tower, gradually decreasing in size from the center outwards. It was surrounded by numerous Golem Factories and Mage Towers. Seen from afar, it looked like a majestic fortress lying on its side in the Gobi Desert, exuding an overall atmosphere of seriousness and rigidity, cold, and militant, with no hint of romance.
However, what surprised Aryk was that Hades City seemed to be under siege.
Dense black dots at the city gates surged towards the tall city walls like a tide. Amidst the roar, cannons exploded on the city walls, like orange flowers. Gunsmoke billowed from various parts of Hades City, engulfing the sky and darkening the clouds above the gates, making them even deeper.
“What’s happening?” Aryk couldn’t help but feel anxious.
He had long considered Hades City his own, and now his city was in grave danger, besieged by enemies.
But from such a distance, Appraisal technique was ineffective. He didn’t have time to think further and urged his horse towards the battlefield, with the Bald Head demon following closely behind him.
As Aryk approached the battlefield, he finally saw clearly.
Before the gates of Hades City, two armies faced each other. One side consisted of Human Golem Soldiers and Human infantry, holding the defensive line relying on the walls of Hades. The other side was surprisingly demons and orcs!
At the same time, two demons in the sky, with presences as grand as the abyss, watched ominously.
Aryk cast an Appraisal technique, and immediately gasped.
Damn! Legendary-grade!
Just then, amidst a clamorous uproar, the demon and orc allied forces launched another attack against the defending forces of Hades.
Perhaps due to the urgency of the battle, a roar echoed from the walls of Hades City: “Forbidden Spell – Tomb of the Blazing Sun!”
As the roar reverberated through the sky above the battlefield.
“Boom!”
A point of light bloomed on the city wall, growing larger and larger, soon scattering into a ring about a hundred meters wide, shimmering with golden radiance, enveloped in sacred flames, like a solar halo. Within it, there seemed to be a bald, black-robed mage, holding a golden scepter, looking majestic.
“This, this is a powerhouse!”
Aryk gazed at the solar halo, deeply shocked.
However, in the next second, a colossal Hell Three-Headed Dog at the foot of Hades City opened its bloody maw and surged upwards. The giant mouth expanded as it approached the solar halo, blocking out the sky and the sun, with a momentum that could swallow the heavens and the earth. It swallowed the mage and his forbidden spell in one gulp.
Aryk: “ヽ(ー_ー)ノ……”
As expected, you can’t praise someone too much, or they’ll die!
The mage was clearly dead. The army below, defending against the demon and orc attack, instantly collapsed. Faint shouts could be heard, such as “The City Lord is dead,” “The City Lord was devoured,” “Run,” and similar words. Meanwhile, the morale of the demons and orcs grew increasingly arrogant.
“So that person was the City Lord?”
Aryk inwardly lamented the pity. He had originally hoped to try and recruit the City Lord of Hades City, but he never expected the other party to die so directly at the hands of the demons. Being able to cast a forbidden spell meant he was at least a Starfall-level mage. If Aryk could have recruited him, he would have been a formidable general.
However, now, an even greater trouble lay before him.
Two legendary-grade demons in the sky, one legendary-grade Hell Three-Headed Dog on the ground, and likely one legendary-grade Beast King.
With a lineup of four legendary-grade beings, even his Champion Level Bald Head wouldn’t be a match for them!
And that didn’t even count the dense legions of orcs and demons below; one mouthful of their spit could drown him.
What should he do now?
Aryk turned to look at the Bald Head demon, only to see it appearing calm and unhurried, as if it didn’t even take the three legendary demons seriously.
Obviously, the army before Aryk was the demon and orc allied forces led by the Beast King.
Before this, they had worn down the War God Golem, depleting its backup energy, and had completely occupied Erlendara.
Ultimately, they had found no Human residents in Erlendara.
The Beast King could only lead the restless orcs and demons to attack another border city near Erlendara.
Which was Hades, before them.
