Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Karolina was an extremely old black dragon. She was over six hundred years old, had had more than ten mates, and had given birth to over fifty black dragons. Although most of them had died young, what did that have to do with Karolina? She didn’t want to lay eggs. She just enjoyed the process of procreation. If she could just procreate without laying eggs, she would absolutely seek out adult male dragons every day for some intimate time. Unfortunately, that was impossible. Even though the reproductive rate of dragons was low, increasing the number of attempts could increase the probability of success, so Karolina had always been restrained, only mating a thousand times a year. Today was the day she was invited to mate. Her partner was an adult red dragon. It had good bloodline, rumored to be a descendant of the Flame Lord. Its physique was also very strong, even though Karolina, who had seen countless dragons, was tempted. As for why the red dragon was willing to mate with her, an extremely old dragon, it had little to do with age. The age of a dragon was merely a measure of its strength. The older a dragon, the more beautiful it became. The scales of ancient dragons were so beautiful they could be collected as national treasures. Plus, old dragons were skilled and considerate of younger dragons’ feelings. Most male dragons preferred to mate with older female dragons.
Karolina had dressed up today. She ordered her dependents and snacks – a group of kobolds – to polish her scales until they gleamed with a metallic luster like high-quality obsidian, even reflecting light! Then she stuffed the gold coins she had collected over the years into her scales, making her body exude the scent of gold coins. Karolina was very experienced. Young dragons loved that scent of gold coins. Of course, that scent was only for the red dragon to smell. She would never give a single coin away. If she discovered even one coin missing from her body when she returned to her dragon’s lair, she would fly back and wring the red dragon’s head off! What? Hadn’t this red dragon just mated with her? As mentioned, she only enjoyed the process of procreation. After that, they were strangers. They might even fight to death over territory the next day. Finally, Karolina put on her ruby crown. It was her favorite piece of jewelry. This ruby crown was also a magical item that could unleash a forbidden spell, [Crimson Lotus Fire Domain]. She had accidentally discovered this item on a Champion Level knight. That knight had buried his beloved, a noble fire mage, along with this crown in the grave. After the knight left, Karolina, who was still an adult dragon at the time, dug out the ruby crown. As for the mage’s corpse, she had enthusiastically helped cremate it. Later, she heard that the human knight had become the King of the Kolon Empire. To avoid being found by that king, Karolina had lived in hiding and on the run for a period, living in constant fear and hardship, until the king died of old age.
In short, Karolina was attending in full regalia today. She flew to the river and displayed her graceful posture to the water, feeling immensely satisfied. Many dragons lived in this extreme north, but few female dragons could compare to her. These were the source of her pride. “Dressed so beautifully, it’s a real bargain for that red dragon…” Karolina narcissistically murmured, “When I leave later, I must charge that young red dragon some gold coins. As a descendant of the Flame Lord, it should have some savings.” With such thoughts, Karolina flew towards the red dragon’s lair. It was a dormant volcano. However, since the red dragon moved in, the volcano seemed to have gained some vitality. The dragon’s aura emanating from the red dragon would alter the terrain. Perhaps in another hundred years, this volcano would become active. Karolina, in her splendid attire, received a warm welcome from the red dragon. It was no exaggeration to say that the young red dragon’s eyes were glued to her. “Karolina, you are the most beautiful female dragon I have ever seen…” The young red dragon approached Karolina and praised her sincerely. As their necks intertwined, it soon smelled Karolina’s perfume – the scent of gold coins! Oh! By Tiamat! This mother dragon really knew how to please! “I think we will have a wonderful night today! I am deeply fascinated by you!” The red dragon was much smaller than Karolina, and the entire dragon seemed to be hanging on Karolina, but Karolina greatly enjoyed it. It had been a long time since she had encountered such a sweet-talking and obedient male dragon. She glanced at the red dragon haughtily. She wondered if she should procreate with this red dragon for a few more days before returning when she got tired of it. Hormones were rampant within the dragon’s lair. Both dragons were very satisfied, nuzzling and entwining, preparing for the “hehehe” moment.
Outside the dragon’s lair, Connie’s figure gradually descended from the clouds, landing on a hill less than a hundred meters away from the red dragon’s lair, facing it from a distance. “Roar—” With Xi Wei backing her up, Connie was not afraid at all. She directly raised her head and let out a powerful and valiant roar towards the red dragon’s lair. The roar was vigorous and filled with killing intent, almost scaring the excited red dragon into submission. Karolina was also furious. She recognized a familiar aura in that roar, though it had been a long time. But that wasn’t important! What was important was that the one provoking her outside was a female dragon! How dare she ruin her good time at this moment. Karolina swore that she would have this ignorant female dragon outside bitten to death and corroded into a skeleton with acid. “What, your lover is here?” Karolina asked the red dragon, who was sticking close to her, as she flew out of the dragon’s lair. The red dragon looked stunned and hurriedly denied it, “Beautiful Karolina, I have never mated with any dragon. If all goes well, you will be my first mate!” The red dragon’s words were sincere, and its eyes were earnest. Karolina snorted coldly and no longer doubted it. Arriving outside the dragon’s lair, she saw a pink giant dragon standing proudly on the opposite hill. It refracted brilliant light in the sunlight, as if made of amethyst, unimaginably beautiful. Even Karolina, who considered herself perfect, felt a sense of inferiority. “By Tiamat! Oh! This is the most beautiful female dragon I have ever seen! My goodness, how can she be so beautiful…” The red dragon was mesmerized again. It wasn’t that it lacked experience. It was just that from a dragon’s aesthetic perspective, it couldn’t find any existence comparable to the pink giant dragon. Its sparkling, crystal-like scales seemed to be a dimensional crushing blow compared to Karolina, like the vast difference between gold and mud. The red dragon’s words pulled Karolina out of her brief inferiority complex. After inferiority came anger and jealousy. She swore she would kill this female dragon and scrape off all her scales to use as decorative material for her dragon’s lair!
