Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Even with Ruo Yi’s help, it took quite some time to reach the Thunder Mountain Range.
Xi Wei had already learned about the events in Winter City through the system. It was expected that the Old Ones might make a move when he left Winter City. However, he was confident that with Loli in charge and so many players present, matters would be handled properly. As expected, the Old Ones’ attack was nothing more than a clownish act, but it also served as a warning that a more ferocious assault might be imminent.
The Thunder Mountain Range is located in the central region of the Northern Territory and is the dwelling place of the Titan God Race. Legend has it that this area connects to the Supreme Dome, and anyone who could climb to the summit, even a mortal, could come into contact with the gods. Standing at the foot of the Thunder Mountain Range, Xi Wei couldn’t help but be awestruck by its grandeur and magnificence.
Dozens of miles around were barren, with only bare, gray rocks, all enveloped in a swirling mass of thunderclouds. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled within the dark clouds. Especially at the center of the swirling storm, continuous bolts of lightning merged into one, emitting a blinding divine light, as if an eye had opened in the clouds or a massive Teleportation Gate to the Divine Realm was inhaling and exhaling mysterious radiance.
“Mas-Master, I-I’m scared…”
Bai Yao looked at the thundering Thunder Mountain Range. The terrifying heavenly might and Oppressive Aura caused her to have an instinctive reaction even before the Divine Trial began. She clutched one of Xi Wei’s arms and shivered.
“Mas-Master, I’m scared too!”
Connie hugged Xi Wei’s right leg.
This Silly Dragon had become silent and cautious upon entering the core area of the Northern Territory. Xi Wei had thought she had suddenly become more sensible, only to realize she was just terrified.
“Alright, don’t be scared. It’s just a Divine Trial and Titans, they don’t eat people. Cheer up!”
Xi Wei patted Bai Yao and Connie’s little heads, then took a whistle from his waist. This Bone whistle had come into his possession with Xin. The Titan God Race had instructed that upon reaching the core area of the Thunder Mountain Range, one only needed to blow the Bone whistle to be greeted by Titans.
Seeing Xi Wei take out the Bone whistle, the two women seemed to anticipate something and trembled even more violently. Xi Wei felt helpless but still blew the whistle. The sooner they finished and returned, the better. He had been out for Three Days and already missed Loli dearly.
“Beep—”
The shrill sound of the Bone whistle echoed through the canyon.
Xi Wei didn’t have to wait long before he felt the ground beneath him tremble. Soon, at the end of the canyon, a giant figure with gray skin, about ten meters tall, appeared in their sight. He looked very young, like a teenager in his teens. His upper body was bare, covered in well-defined muscles, and he wore a black skirt made of an unknown material on his lower body. It looked very much like beast hide. As Xi Wei got closer, he was astonished to realize that the garment was actually made from dragon hide!
Good heavens, wearing dragon hide as pants was quite something.
Indeed, as the Titan stood before them, Connie had already hidden behind Xi Wei, shrinking herself into a trembling ball as much as possible to minimize her presence.
“Welcome to the Thunder Mountain Range, Your Majesty Winter.”
The young Titan had clearly been trained for this occasion and performed an awkward Knight’s salute. However, Xi Wei did not mock him and returned the salute with utmost solemnity.
The Titans had their own etiquette. But the fact that they had learned human customs for his sake was a sign of respect and importance. He couldn’t let their kindness go unacknowledged.
“I have long heard tales of the Thunder Mountain Range but never had the time to visit. Seeing it now, it truly is a wonderful place for a stroll!”
Xi Wei said with a straight face.
This statement delighted the young Titan.
“Your Majesty has excellent taste. I believe there is no more beautiful place in the world than the Thunder Mountain Range! Look at the mountains here, the water, how beautiful it is?!”
Bai Yao and Connie shivered behind Xi Wei.
Were these two speaking in human tongues? Bare mountains and black water crackling with lightning. This was called a good place for a spring outing? Ugh!
“Actually, there are even more beautiful places,” Xi Wei enticed with ill intent. “Young people should venture out more. For example, my Winter City. Once you visit, you’ll be reluctant to leave. It’s also a top-notch place in this world~”
“Really?”
The young Titan’s eyes widened. He looked quite naive and easy to deceive.
“Your Majesty, please follow me. And tell me more about your Winter City on the way!”
Xi Wei readily agreed to such a request.
The group headed into the interior of the Thunder Mountain Range, encountering more bizarre and wondrous sights along the way. For example, golden trees over twenty meters tall. The branches had no leaves but were covered in golden threads resembling mycelium. These golden threads swayed in the strong wind and, from a distance, looked somewhat like the willow branches of a weeping willow.
Connie, out of curiosity, reached out to touch one. She was immediately struck by the lightning on the golden threads and felt a jolt in her hand. She quickly withdrew her hand and, with a wronged expression, clutched Xi Wei’s clothes. In addition, there were antelopes with lightning horns, large mushrooms spewing black smoke into the sky, and strange creatures that resembled jellyfish but could fly in the air… Along the way, Xi Wei had essentially seen a full menu.
The young Titan was also captivated by the Winter City Xi Wei had described.”Unfortunately, I am a Titan. The human world does not welcome me. I can eat their food for several days with one bite, and sit down and crush their houses with one sits. Alas…” Being large in size wasn’t always an advantage. It was just like this moment, when the young Titan felt sadness for his immense physique.”Don’t think that way at all. Winter City is different. As long as you are willing to settle in Winter City, I can build a dwelling just for you, and no one will dislike your large size. It is an inclusive city, and there are even giant demons there.”
“There are demons too?!” The young Titan’s eyes widened.
“That’s right, but they are all under my control.” Xi Wei nodded solemnly. The Fear Demon King was completely loyal to him, and the entire Fifth Layer of the Abyss belonged to him. It wasn’t wrong to say he controlled them.
“You really dare to take in anything…” Although he hadn’t known the King of Winter for long, the young Titan was already full of admiration for Xi Wei and decided that he would definitely visit Winter City after he came of age. If it was as good as the King of Winter said, he would bring his companions to settle there together. Moreover, since the King of Winter was so approachable, he would surely treat them well.
If Xi Wei knew what the young Titan was thinking, he would be overjoyed. Titans, upon reaching adulthood, become Legendary beings, and in their prime, demigods. However, their birth rate is even lower than that of dragons. Forming a friendship with such a powerful race would ensure the continuation of the Wintery Empire for eternity, even if he were to ascend to godhood in the future.
