Chapter 778: Hunting Thunder Beasts
“The Goddess has already descended with a divine decree, requiring the successor to the divine position to hunt a Thunder Beast of Champion Level or above alone,” Marralum, the Titan King, said, glancing at Bai Yao with some pity.
Although it was a Champion Level Thunder Beast, its strength was not something ordinary Champion Level beings could handle. After all, it was a creature of divinity. Four or five young titans of the same rank would be needed to subdue one Champion Level Thunder Beast. Yet, the Goddess’s request was for Bai Yao to complete such a difficult mission by herself.
“Just hunting one Thunder Beast?” Bai Yao blinked her large eyes. As she absorbed divinity, the gravity on the mountain affected her less and less. She felt that in a little while, the seventy-something-fold gravity would feel similar to the normal gravity below the mountain. Thus, she was rather confident about the second assessment. After entering the third stage of the High Elf, Bai Yao believed she could handle Champion Level enemies.
“That’s right, all you need to do is hunt one Thunder Beast!”
“Then let’s begin!” Bai Yao rolled up her sleeves, unable to wait.
“Don’t rush yet,” the Titan King waved his hand. “The Thunder Beasts haven’t even appeared yet, how can you hunt them?”
Everyone looked around. The circular mountaintop was vast and airy, with only silvery-white rocks and golden lightning. The lightning here was extremely dense, especially in the center, where it was like a golden waterfall. The rumbling thunder formed a continuous roar, and the lightning, suppressed by immense pressure, turned into liquid, converging into a lake of purplish-gold.
Looking up, the strong winds swirled the dark clouds into a funnel. In the center, a faint blue glow flickered, like an eye. This should be what the Titan King called the Eye of Lightning. However, this was not the highest peak. In the distance, a wolf-tooth-shaped cliff shot straight into the sky, almost connecting with the Eye of Lightning.
This desolate land was like the end of days, with no trace of life visible. Nor were there any Thunder Beasts, as mentioned by the Thunder Titan.
“So, do those Thunder Beasts actually live within the Eye of Lightning?” Xi Wei frowned. He looked around but did not sense any monster auras. The System’s Appraisal technique also showed no red dots, indicating that these Thunder Beasts were not currently present in the prime material plane. They should have come from a subspace, or perhaps directly from the heavens!
“Lord Winter King, you have sharp eyes. These Thunder Beasts do not live within the Eye of Lightning, but the Eye of Lightning is actually the passage through which these Thunder Beasts enter the prime material plane,” the Titan King looked up at the sky, his dark golden eyes mysterious and distant, as if he could see beyond the Eye of Lightning.
After a while, he suddenly said, “They’re here!” Then he turned, his gaze serious, and said to all the titans, “Everyone pay attention! Be alert!”
As soon as he finished speaking, a violent thunderclap echoed from the dark clouds, surpassing even the falling lightning pool. It was accompanied by a soul-stirring beast roar. The assembled titans drew their spears from behind them, their eyes fixed on the Eye of Lightning.
The beast roar grew closer, from a sound like an engine’s roar to a clear, piercing sound that could split metal, all within the span of a few breaths. The next moment, a purple light shot out from the Eye of Lightning and exploded in the center of the lightning pool on the mountaintop with a “boom.”
Following closely, a figure covered in lightning gradually appeared in the thunder. It was more than ten stories tall, with a spiral golden horn on its forehead, similar to a unicorn’s. Its ferocious face was like a horse or a deer, with a broad muzzle resembling that of a feline like a lion, filled with sharp teeth. A strong wind whipped up its gray fur, like smoke rising from extinguished embers, with flashes of electricity like unextinguished sparks.
As if announcing its birth, the Thunder Beast roared, its voice powerful and resonant. Golden lightning exploded around it.
“This is a Thunder Beast?” Xi Wei stared at the magnificent giant beast in the center of the lightning pool, a sudden urge to capture it as a mount surging within him.
The Titan King did not answer Xi Wei’s question because the Thunder Beast’s eyes had already turned toward them. The moment it saw the titans, Xi Wei clearly read hatred and rage in its golden lightning eyes. It was evident that the animosity between the Thunder Beasts and the titans was profound.
Even though the Thunder Beast’s strength was not yet Champion Level, it lifted its head, raised a pair of front hooves, and assumed an attacking stance.
*Sss—!*
With a flash of lightning, the Thunder Beast vanished instantly. However, a point of light could still be seen approaching, gradually enlarging. Where it passed, lightning roared and wind howled.
“Hahaha! Good one!” The Titan King, un। fearfully, let out a wild laugh, his eyes blazing with fighting spirit.
The Thunder Beast leaped left and right, its movements erratic, displaying a strange S-shaped path. In an instant, it circled to the Titan King’s rear. The Titan King remained in place as if a half-beat slow, but the moment the Thunder Beast thought it had found an opening and charged.
The Titan King’s eyes suddenly widened, his gray skin swelling slightly. He let out a “hiss” and spewed a blast of white air, his fighting spirit replaced by contempt and mockery.

The next second, it was as if the Titan King had eyes in the back of his head. He might not have even looked, merely turning based on instinct, and before the Thunder Beast could react, he drew his spear back sharply.
*Bang—!*
The spear directly broke the Thunder Beast’s horn, even piercing into it along the horn’s position and directly through the Thunder Beast’s skull, emerging from the back of its head. The originally arrogant and rapidly moving Thunder Beast halted abruptly, as if paused. The Titan King skillfully flicked it, and the Thunder Beast fell into a formation prepared beforehand behind him.
The Thunder Beast’s corpse was absorbed by the formation and disappeared, leaving only some pale golden bloodstains behind.
“Roar—!!” The Titan King killed the Thunder Beast with one blow, raising his spear and roaring! The surrounding titans also raised their spears in response, shouting, “Long live our Chieftain!”
During this pause, more and more Thunder Beasts appeared in the lightning pool. They needed to drive back these titans to breed and survive, while the titans also needed to kill enough Thunder Beasts to return to their ancestral land. He raised his palm and lightly sliced at the black death lines.
*Bang—* The Thunder Beast fell to the ground and rolled into a ball without even letting out a sound, finally rolling to Xi Wei’s feet. Xi Wei looked up and gently kicked it, sending it into the formation behind him.
A burst of thunder sounded from his side. Xi Wei turned his head and saw that Bai Yao had chosen her opponent. It was a Champion Level Thunder Beast, and Bai Yao, transformed into a Thunder Bird, had already collided with it!
