Chapter 82: Causing Havoc on Rain Island
Rain Island, situated in the western reaches of the Archipelago, is a renowned city-level island. Due to unique ocean currents and monsoon winds, it experiences perennial rain, rarely enjoying clear skies.
This environment fosters an abundant supply of water Vital Energy, making it exceptionally suitable for water-attribute Demonic creatures to grow and cultivate.
The Shui Family has been stationed here for centuries, their influence growing through generations of effort and dedication. This has elevated Rain Island’s status in the eyes of the world.
As the saying goes, “Rainbow in the east, rain in the west; Shu Family men, Ning Family women.” The “Rainbow” refers to Rainbow Island, and “rain” to Rain Island, illustrating Rain Island’s formidable reputation within the Archipelago.
Much like the conflict between the Tie Family and the Shu Family, the Shui Family and the Shu Family have irreconcilable interests. When Chu Yun killed Shui Ruolan, he immediately pursued the heavily injured Shui Family island master, relentlessly chasing them all the way to Rain Island.
The sky above Rain Island was overcast, with a constant drizzle falling. Upon the island stood a vast city, covering the entire landmass with its pavilions and towers. The Shui Family’s ancient inheritance was evident.
“Protect the Island Master, resist! Resist!” Upon seeing Chu Yun’s arrival, thousands of soldiers were already arrayed on Rain Island. There were over thirty generals among them.
Despite the Shui Family’s smaller population and fewer branch islands, their members generally possessed higher quality than ordinary forces. Among these generals were twelve High Generals and twenty-three Junior Generals.
They were both shocked and enraged to witness Chu Yun’s relentless pursuit.
“What’s going on? How could the Island Master be so heavily injured after going to rescue the Saintess?”
“Everyone be careful, Chu Yun’s Sky Fox has also been promoted to a Spirit Monster!”
“Little Tyrant has gone too far! Let’s defend our Homeland together and eliminate this murderer!”
The generals, each mounted on their Demonic Beasts, charged forward first. They blocked Chu Yun’s path, most of them being female generals, yet they displayed excellent combat prowess, their fighting spirit burning and their killing intent palpable. They did not show any fear in the face of Chu Yun’s strength.
“Hmph, Fire Virtue True Body!” Chu Yun snorted coldly, and the Sky Fox beneath him transformed into a ball of flame, enveloping his entire being.
Instantly, he transformed into a twenty-foot-tall, muscular figure clad in fiery armor, a fire giant. The Sky Fox, now a Spirit Monster, unleashed the Fire Virtue True Body with even greater might, appearing like a descending god of fire, its blazing red flames instilling terror.
Before the enemy generals could even get close, they felt a powerful wave of heat washing over them, making it unbearable!
*Boom!*
Chu Yun unleashed his Saber Techniques and plunged into the enemy ranks. The Drunken Snow Saber danced wildly, instantly creating a bloody spectacle.
There were no Great Generals among the enemy commanders to suppress Chu Yun. Demonic creatures of the Great Demon level faced the overwhelming suppression of a Spirit Monster, their already diminished combat power dropping to its lowest point. This allowed Chu Yun to fight like a thousand soldiers, cutting through their ranks unimpeded.
*Swish.*
With a vertical slash, he cleaved a High General and his mount in two. Bones shattered, and flesh flew in all directions.
With another horizontal sweep, three female generals who had charged at him were consumed by the blade light, reduced to dust. Their mounts, which had miraculously survived, became riderless Demonic Beasts. Sensing the Spirit Monster’s aura, they were terrified and fled the battlefield in disarray.
“Chu Yun, die!” One High General roared, charging at Chu Yun with a suicidal intensity.
Chu Yun struck with the body of his Drunken Snow Saber, and the sound of cracking bones echoed. The general’s body snapped, blood poured from his orifices, and he was sent flying like a ball, his bones broken. He died in mid-air before even hitting the sea.
“Is this Little Tyrant? He’s inhuman!”
“A great demon, this is the birth of a demon. How can we resist?”
“The Island Master has ordered a retreat! Mobilize the entire army and defend the city!”
The generals, who had charged out with fierce determination, retreated in a state of terror. They had finally experienced Chu Yun’s might and, with fear in their eyes, retreated into Rain Island.
There were over thirty of them when they charged out, but only fourteen returned. The Shui Family matriarch felt like spitting blood; these were the Shui Family’s elites, their most loyal pillars.
*Roar!*
As Chu Yun stepped onto Rain Island, he heard four beast roars. Following them, four Great Demonic Beasts descended from the sky.
Chu Yun was not surprised. Rain Island naturally had altars to raise Demonic Beasts for defense. However, lacking ancient altars, these were only Demonic Beasts of the Great Demon level.
These four Great Demonic Beasts were all Nine-Headed Sea Serpents. These creatures, much like the Sky Fox, possessed nine attributes: fire, earth, gold, water, wood, lightning, wind, poison, and blood. Their recovery abilities were exceptional, making them quite troublesome.
Especially since the altars could channel the surrounding Vital Energy for replenishment, giving the Nine-Headed Sea Serpents a home-field advantage.
The four Nine-Headed Sea Serpents surrounded the fire giant, engaging in a fierce battle. Various Cultivation Methods were unleashed, resembling cheap fireworks. The flames of war spread, affecting the Shui Family’s city. Countless buildings were destroyed, either by Chu Yun’s unintentional steps, the serpents’ massive bodies, or the destructive Cultivation Methods.
“This is like a battle between monsters!” The Shui Family members cried out in alarm.
“My shop…” Many clutched their chests, the battle inflicting heavy economic losses upon them.
“Chu Yun is so fierce, our altar Demonic Beasts can’t stop him at all,” many worried.
“Why is Chu Yun attacking our Rain Island? This makes no sense! How can a person be so overbearing?!” Countless people were filled with indignation, unaware of the reasons behind the attack. They only felt Chu Yun was exceptionally domineering and hateful.
The surviving generals gritted their teeth, staring at the fire giant with seething anger. Yet, their inferior strength left them helpless against Chu Yun.
“The Nine-Headed Serpents won’t hold out much longer. Organize the clans and use the secret passages to retreat to the inner island for safety!” The Shui Family matriarch gritted her teeth, enduring waves of pain from her injuries, and directed the chaotic scene.
“What is the inner island?”
“Our Shui Family has an inner island? How come I don’t know about it?”
Not only ordinary clansmen but even some high-ranking members were unaware of an inner island’s existence.
“Inside Rain Island is a sealed lake with an island within it, called the inner island. It’s strategically advantageous and very hidden. Hurry into the secret passage, there’s no time for explanations,” the Shui Family matriarch urged. One by one, the Nine-Headed Sea Serpents fell to Chu Yun, filling her with anxiety.
“The Shui Family truly lives up to its status as one of the Five Ancient Clans. Their altars are indeed incredible. No wonder the Nine-Headed Sea Serpents have such terrifying recovery abilities; it’s all thanks to these altars.” As Chu Yun wreaked havoc on Rain Island, destroying the Nine-Headed Sea Serpents and the altar, he discovered their secret.
Most of the Shui Family clansmen had retreated to the inner island, and the resistance on Rain Island became increasingly sporadic and weak. Chu Yun gradually sensed something was amiss, and when he finally found the secret passage, he discovered it had been destroyed by the Shui Family.
“The Shui Family has truly endured. To suffer such humiliation as me attacking their doorstep, yet they could bear it. I don’t know where this secret passage leads, but they destroyed it so thoroughly…”
Seeing the destroyed secret passage, Chu Yun also recognized the Shui Family matriarch’s decisiveness and felt a sense of admiration. He could still blast his way through, but it would consume time. During this period, the Shui Family matriarch would surely recuperate and regain her strength, allowing her to fight him head-on.
“The Shui Family has deep foundations. This time, I merely took advantage of a momentary lapse and caught them off guard. Moreover, they have the Night Rain assassins. I’m unfamiliar with this territory and cannot linger here.”
Chu Yun narrowed his eyes; he was no brute who relied solely on strength.
“Instead of futilely trying to blast open the secret passage, it’s better to use this time to plunder the Shui Family’s treasury. Shui Fang’s documents are unlikely to be here; such important items would be hidden in the most secret places, most likely within this secret passage.” With this thought, Chu Yun decisively stopped his efforts.
He raced against time, plundering the Shui Family’s treasury with all his might.
Although not an architectural master, he possessed the keen eye of a top-tier explorer. He couldn’t decipher the architectural layouts, but he had developed an almost instinctive sense for hidden treasures.
*Bang!*
He first found the armory. Kicking open the large door, he beheld an array of Demon Soldiers. Spears, swords, sabers, halberds, axes, and more, all present. It was even more abundant than the Ning Family’s or Yan Family’s.
Chu Yun felt both joy and regret. “The Shui Family has meticulously managed their affairs for so many years, harboring great ambitions to secretly accumulate so many Demon Soldiers. Unfortunately, even though I possess the Star Sea Dragon Palace’s Immortal Pouch, I cannot store this many Demon Soldiers at once.”
“What’s that?” His eyes suddenly lit up as he noticed a corner of the armory, where a single table was set up. On a rack, a scroll was placed.
“These Great Demon Soldiers are piled up everywhere, or simply thrown on the ground. How can a scroll receive such special treatment, placed specifically in a corner?”
Curiosity piqued, Chu Yun cautiously approached. After disarming a hidden mechanism trap, he obtained the scroll.
“This is a Great Demon Soldier.” His heart stirred. He unrolled it, but found it to be blank within the scroll’s long form, devoid of any writing or drawings.
However, on the scroll’s axis, he saw a row of shimmering gold ancient characters: “Bai Xiao Sheng’s Weapon Compendium”.
He paused for a moment, and then his face broke out in immense joy. “It’s actually Bai Xiao Sheng’s Weapon Compendium!”
Bai Xiao Sheng was a renowned artifact-making Grandmaster tens of thousands of years ago, famous for crafting storage-type Demon Soldiers. This weapon compendium was his masterpiece.
Chu Yun took the weapon compendium and made it his own. He immediately unrolled it, pointing the scroll’s surface towards the Demon Soldiers before him.
Instantly, white light flickered across the scroll. For every Demon Soldier that vanished from the armory, an image of a Demon Soldier appeared on the scroll, astonishingly lifelike and vivid.
Chu Yun stored several hundred Demon Soldiers, finally reaching the limit and filling this weapon compendium. The once-full armory was now left with only inferior items.
Chu Yun had no intention of leaving these behind for the Shui Family. Before departing, he had the Sky Fox activate a Cultivation Method to detonate these Demon Soldiers into Demonic Crystals, all of which nourished the Sky Fox.
Subsequently, Chu Yun plundered the alchemy room, the material storage, and other areas, reaping substantial rewards. Most valuable of all, he unexpectedly acquired the eye of a Supreme grade Dragon Beast. Anything he couldn’t take, he ruthlessly destroyed.
Finally, seeing that time was running short, he withdrew. Before leaving, he unleashed three World-Ending Red Lotuses, reducing the grand Shui Family city to utter devastation.
When the Shui Family island master recovered her cultivation, broke through the secret passage, and returned, she saw the smoldering ruins of her city and could hardly believe her eyes.
“Chu Yun!!!” She was enraged, wanting to fight Chu Yun to the death. But he had long since vanished.
