Section 98: Greedy Wolf King’s Great Opportunity

The Greedy Wolf King, unstoppable and ferocious, charged into the Land Whale’s body with an overwhelming force. Erlang Tian Jun’s screen displayed this scene in vivid detail. Chu Yun and his three companions’ expressions shifted. The Greedy Wolf King’s actions were precisely what they had intended to do upon arriving: to seize the young of these wild demonic creatures. However, his superior strength, which Chu Yun and the others couldn’t match, allowed him to breach defenses directly and take what he wanted.
Rumbling sounds echoed from afar, indicating the fierce battle the Greedy Wolf King was waging within the Land Whale. The ground shook, and the shockwaves of the intense fight rippled outward, causing tremors. The four men’s faces grew solemn; they could feel their feet going numb from the sheer power of the Greedy Wolf King’s might. Each King was the pinnacle of their chosen path, representing the ultimate pursuit. Currently, Chu Yun and the others were far from being able to challenge a King level powerhouse.
“Immediately use the Spatial Demonic Creatures to teleport out,” Chu Yun said decisively. Escaping now, facing a horde of enraged demonic beasts, was far safer than confronting a King level expert.
“Oh no, space has been sealed. We can’t use spatial techniques,” Xiao Xiaoxian’s face turned pale.
“Hmm? Let me see!” Chu Yun frowned and opened his Heavenly Eye. He saw a layer of five-colored auspicious mist flowing on the inner walls of the Land Whale’s body. Chu Yun was not surprised; this was the five-element demon essence within the Land Whale circulating. But then, his pupils contracted, and his expression changed dramatically. He noticed that within this colorful mist, strands were forming—a Net of Law! This was a Net of Law woven from Dao and principle! However, these strands were still faint, with large gaps between them, and the structure felt loose and fragile to Chu Yun, vastly different from the Net of Law he had seen in the Dragon Gate World. Yet, Chu Yun felt no sense of disdain. This was, after all, a Net of Law.
“No wonder there’s a saying in the Pouch World. The inspiration for our ancestors to refine Immortal Spouses came from the Land Whale,” Chu Yun’s thoughts raced, connecting various ideas. A nascent Net of Law had formed within the Land Whale. Teleporting within its body was possible, but the effect would be weakened, suppressed by the Net of Law. However, to teleport from the outside to the inside, one would have to break through the Net of Law. If the Net of Law were broken, it would detonate the entire Land Whale, causing an unprecedented explosion. Therefore, the miniature Gem Secret Passage gifted by the Ten Thousand Poisons Queen couldn’t be used either.
“No wonder the Greedy Wolf King didn’t use spatial techniques to enter directly,” Chu Yun suddenly understood.
“This is troublesome. The explosions are getting louder, and the Greedy Wolf King is rapidly approaching us!” Xiao Xiaoxian said with a pale face. While he could confidently stall Wolf Fang Lord with his speed, his speed was insufficient against a King level expert.
“According to the terrain, we’ve already delved deep into the Land Whale’s body. There are many demonic beast habitats here, so the Greedy Wolf King would naturally head this way to hunt for young ones,” Erlang Tian Jun frowned, his tone heavy.
“How much time is left until the Dragon Gate World closes?” Jin Bihan asked anxiously. The twists of fate were unpredictable. Just moments ago, they were concerned about lacking time, but now, with the situation drastically changed, they wished the Dragon Gate World would close sooner.
“About the time it takes for an incense stick to burn…” Chu Yun closed his eyes, sensed for a moment, and then replied. With the Moon Rabbit’s spiritual energy feeding back to him, his sense of time was incredibly acute, far exceeding others. An incense stick’s burn time was about two hours, meaning they had to play hide-and-seek with the Greedy Wolf King inside the Land Whale. If they could survive this duration, the Dragon Gate World would close, and they would be automatically teleported out. As for where they would be teleported, any location within the Great Wilderness Country’s islands was possible.
Survive for one incense stick’s burn time! The four looked at each other, their faces etched with determination. If it were the Wine King, they would have immediately joined forces. If it were the Ten Thousand Poisons Queen or the Immortal Pouch King, they could avoid them or even converse. But it was the Greedy Wolf King, an enemy, not a friend. If he discovered them, he would undoubtedly try to kill them without hesitation. The four understood this clearly and harbored no naive hopes.
There was still a chance! If the Greedy Wolf King found them, one of them would surely perish. But now, the enemy was open, and they were hidden—this was their advantage.
“Let’s go!” Hearing the commotion growing louder, Chu Yun gritted his teeth and led the way deeper into the Land Whale.
Roar!!! Five dragon roars exploded in their ears, the sound waves surging like crashing waves.
“Hahaha…” The Greedy Wolf King laughed heartily, standing in mid-air. His dark hair whipped wildly, his body taut, like an ancient demon god, exuding an awe-inspiring presence. “Five dying Yellow Mud Dragon Loaches dare to be presumptuous before this King!” His voice was chillingly cold, his eyes narrowed, and a sharp, fierce glint shot out. “Die!”
Led by the Taotie and White-eyed Wolf, who had cultivated for millions of years—eight Tribulation Demons—circled around him, roaring in unison and spitting out rivers of Dao power. The flowing light surged upward, vast and boundless, engulfing the five Yellow Mud Dragon Loaches in an instant. The Dragon Loaches let out tragic roars, trembling under the Greedy Wolf King’s spiritual pressure. Though their red dragon eyes were filled with determination, they unleashed the last embers of their lives to resist, fighting for the future of their race and the protection of new hope.
A fierce battle instantly escalated to its peak. Three minutes later, the Dragon Loaches fell, and the battle concluded.
“To think they injured two of my Tribulation Demons!” The Greedy Wolf King stood proudly in the air, a hint of surprise in his eyes. The five Dragon Loaches, disregarding their own lives, resisted the King level expert with a desperate fury. Although they all perished, they inflicted significant damage. Outside the Land Whale, the Greedy Wolf King mostly employed guerrilla tactics. But here, to capture young demons, he had to attack their habitats. This was a head-on confrontation. Coupled with the Tribulation Demons’ suicidal attacks, there were losses.
“Hmph!” The Greedy Wolf King took out a bottle of pills and fed them to his two injured Tribulation Demons. Soon, their injuries recovered at a visible rate.
“Taotie, capture all these Yellow Mud Dragon Loaches for me,” he then ordered. The Taotie roared and flew down into the mud swamp, opening its massive maw and continuously sucking. Countless young and lesser Yellow Mud Dragon Loaches struggled desperately but to no avail, being drawn up and falling into the Taotie’s belly. The Taotie’s abdomen bulged slightly. Without waiting for the Greedy Wolf King’s command, it flew into the Upper grade Immortal Pouch, the Heaven Swallowing Bag, and regurgitated what it had swallowed. The Yellow Mud Dragon Loaches struggled violently in the Immortal Pouch, but soon, they were forcefully suppressed by the Greedy Wolf King’s use of the Immortal Pouch World’s principle power and the might of the Net of Law.
“Hahaha, well done.” After completing this, he laughed heartily and led his Tribulation Demons deeper into the Land Whale. Tri-pronged Blood Sting Bees, Crescent Flying Elephants, Meteor Falcons, Ice Armored Squids, Cold Lingering Fungi, Phoenix Blood Dates… countless demonic beasts and demonic plants fell into his Immortal Pouch. The Greedy Wolf King was incredibly avaricious, killing all who resisted wherever he went, leaving no survivors. Adult demonic beasts from outside the Land Whale also entered the inner world, attempting to encircle the Greedy Wolf King. However, the Land Whale’s interior was riddled with caves and countless passages. The wild demonic beasts and plants found it difficult to leverage their numbers. Coupled with the Greedy Wolf King’s speed and elusive movements, these wild demonic creatures could only let out waves of roars and mournful cries.
“Damn it, it’s a dead end!” Seeing a solid rock wall at the end of the path, Chu Yun and his companions’ hearts sank. This was the fifth time. The Land Whale’s inner world was like an underground maze, full of branching paths and even more dead ends. These tunnels and caves formed an extremely complex network, and even with detection techniques, one could only scan a limited area. This cut both ways. If Chu Yun encountered such a situation, the Greedy Wolf King naturally did too. Without this complex terrain, the Greedy Wolf King’s detection techniques would have likely found them already.
“Quick, break through from here, there’s another fork,” Erlang Tian Jun pointed after checking the detection results on his screen. Chu Yun blasted open the rock wall to the left; indeed, there was another smaller passage. The four leaped in, but their expressions grew increasingly grim. The sounds of battle were getting louder, indicating the Greedy Wolf King was getting closer. Plans were inferior to changes. The extremely complex terrain, the increasingly chaotic scene of rampant demonic creatures, made their original plan of hiding difficult to execute. Considering the Greedy Wolf King’s detection range, they had to keep moving forward.
A quarter of an hour later, the four stood stunned before a rock face as thick as a mountain. They couldn’t go any further! The explosions behind them continued incessantly. Returning the way they came was no longer an option. If the Greedy Wolf King happened to choose this path, dealing with them would be as easy as catching a turtle in a jar.
“What do we do?” In this moment of crisis, Xiao Xiaoxian clenched his fists, and Jin Bihan’s heart pounded. They both looked to Chu Yun. Chu Yun’s expression was resolute. He closed his eyes, contemplating. Even if the four of them joined forces, they were no match for the Greedy Wolf King; their combat power was simply insufficient. Therefore, they could only rely on luck. At this point, it was their only option! He suddenly opened his eyes, took out his Immortal Pouch, and uttered softly, “Eight Trigrams Battle Formation.” Hiding within the formation’s spatial domain might allow them to evade the Greedy Wolf King’s detection techniques. This was merely a possibility. The Eight Trigrams Battle Formation did not leave behind no trace; it would leave a spatial node at its original location. If the Greedy Wolf King searched carefully, he would surely find something. However, the current situation was chaotic, the terrain was complex, he was focused on plundering, and he likely wouldn’t expect Chu Yun and the others to enter the Dragon Gate. He might overlook it.
The four stood ready within the formation’s space. If the worst-case scenario occurred, they could only fight to the death. The originally noisy sounds were completely isolated. The quiet atmosphere felt more oppressive, and the four could hear their own hearts pounding. The Greedy Wolf King’s detection technique swept past them, but he did not find them. However, the four were unaware of this outcome. Their only recourse was to wait here until the Dragon Gate World closed and they were forcibly teleported out.
“Hahaha!” The Greedy Wolf King laughed, his face contorted and terrifying, black winds swirling, his spiritual pressure engulfing heaven and earth. “Finally, this moment has arrived! My accumulation is sufficient!” He roared to the sky, his eyes shining with an ecstatic light. The spiritual light within him erupted with unprecedented brilliance, more dazzling than the sun. Within this light, a thread appeared and disappeared—a thread of principle. Discovering this anomaly, the Greedy Wolf King was moved to tears, trembling with excitement. He knew his King’s Dao was on the verge of completion. Once complete, this thread of principle would fully condense into form. At that point, he would achieve enlightenment, comprehend his own Divine Path Technique, reach the pinnacle of King level, and stand above all others!
“After thousands of years of hard cultivation, I have finally reached this day. Wine King, Ten Thousand Poisons Queen, Falling Cherry King, Mermaid King, Immortal Pouch King, Land Whale King, I have surpassed you all!” he shouted, venting his overflowing joy. The Wine King walked the path of wine, the Ten Thousand Poisons Queen the path of poison, and he, the Greedy Wolf King, walked the path of greed. Greed for everything, plundering everything, turning on anyone for profit. Profit above all, ruthless and unfeeling—this was the Greedy Wolf King’s path. Taotie and White-eyed Wolf were his favorite demonic beasts. He knew he had succeeded. At this moment, his spiritual light emitted a milky white light of wisdom, which burst outward, spreading in all directions. In an instant, his wisdom reached an extreme, vaguely touching upon a corner of the universe’s ultimate principles. If this state lasted for forty-nine breaths, his own Divine Path Technique would form within his spiritual light.
“This is a bit troublesome.” The Greedy Wolf King suppressed his spiritual light with difficulty, frowning. More and more demonic beasts were attacking him, seemingly endless. Within the forty-nine breaths it took to comprehend his Divine Path Technique, he would be fully focused on enlightenment and unable to direct combat. During this period, he could only rely on the Taotie and other demonic beasts to protect him. “I can barely suppress the spiritual light. Hmm, that dead end is a good place, easy to defend and difficult to attack. It’s decided, I’ll achieve enlightenment there!” The Greedy Wolf King gritted his teeth, and his detection technique swept over Chu Yun’s location once more. Enlightenment could not be delayed; it was a great fortune. Missing it might mean a lifetime of regret. The Greedy Wolf King had not expected this opportunity to arise here and now. Most of his attention was focused on his spiritual light, suppressing it with all his might. He had scanned the dead end twice with his detection technique, and it clearly seemed safe. Once he made up his mind, he flashed into it. Along the short journey, the white spiritual light on his body grew increasingly intense. When he reached the depths of the dead end, his entire body was almost engulfed in the spiritual light.
He had to achieve enlightenment! In the final moments, the Greedy Wolf King commanded the Taotie, White-eyed Wolf, and the other demonic beasts to guard the entrance. He could no longer suppress the spiritual light within him, his mind went blank, and he entered the state of enlightenment, one with heaven and earth.
