Section 67: A Battle of Words, Absolute Domination! By Gu Zhenren, 2014-06-18
The Immortal Pouch King had a past grievance with the Night Emperor over ten years ago, learning about the Secret of Becoming an Emperor.
It was precisely because of this secret that the Immortal Pouch King chose to forge a Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, having prepared for over a decade.
At a banquet a few months prior, the Night Emperor issued a decree, leveraging this past favor to demand the Immortal Pouch King leave the area and not interfere with his plans.
Weighing the options between the mysterious Night Emperor and the younger Marquis-level prodigy Chu Yun, the Immortal Pouch King chose to depart.
However, he hadn’t foreseen that subsequent events would exceed everyone’s expectations.
Chu Yun, by chance, had released the Dragon Emperor. This led to a confrontation between two emperors and widespread chaos. Yet, Chu Yun benefited from this misfortune, advancing to become a King-level expert during the conflict.
Another unexpected development for him was discovering that the final step in forging the Immortal Pouch required assistance from others.
He had once consulted the Night Emperor about forging a Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, but the Night Emperor had never mentioned the difficulty of this final step.
As a King-level expert with unfathomable wisdom, the Immortal Pouch King was no fool.
A lingering doubt gnawed at him: why had the Night Emperor inexplicably revealed such a precious Secret of Becoming an Emperor to him back then?
He considered a strong possibility—the Night Emperor intended to use his hands to forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, only to seize the fruits of his labor at the critical moment.
This possibility seemed highly probable, leading him to abandon the idea of seeking help from the Night Emperor.
Naturally, he couldn’t approach the Dragon Emperor either.
The Dragon Emperor’s arrogance was well-known; if the Immortal Pouch King approached him, he would surely demand submission and might even claim the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch for himself.
Having ruled out the two emperors, the Immortal Pouch King’s remaining options for assistance were the Wine King, the Falling Cherry King, and other King-level experts.
However, according to Star Maiden’s calculations, the Falling Cherry King, Mermaid King, and Ten Thousand Poisons Queen had all fallen victim to the Night Emperor’s schemes. This left Chu Yun and the Wine King as the only viable candidates.
At this point, Star Maiden suggested exchanging the Immortal Consort Demon Soldiers from the Divine Treasury World and presenting them as a gift to Chu Yun, as an apology for their previous encounter.
Although reluctant, the Immortal Pouch King, needing a favor, agreed.
The result was a humiliating defeat at Chu Yun’s hands, with the newly ascended Wushuang King leaving the Immortal Pouch King utterly battered and embarrassed.
The Immortal Pouch King seethed with anger, but to complete the final step of forging the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, he had to swallow his pride and exchange the Secret of Becoming an Emperor for the assistance of Chu Yun and the Wine King.
“Just you wait! Whether it’s you, Wushuang King, Wine King, or even the Night Emperor and Dragon Emperor, once I, the Immortal Pouch King, forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, I will possess pseudo-emperor strength and roam Xingzhou unchallenged!” the Immortal Pouch King declared with a smile, though his heart raged.
As he predicted, the allure of the Secret of Becoming an Emperor was irresistible, especially to King-level experts.
Even the talented Falling Cherry King and the carefree Land Whale King had succumbed to its temptation.
Upon hearing these words, both Chu Yun and the Wine King displayed evident interest.
“Hold on, you claim to possess the Secret of Becoming an Emperor. If the Night Emperor or Dragon Emperor said that, I might believe it. But coming from you, the Immortal Pouch King, the credibility is questionable. How are we supposed to trust you?” Chu Yun’s eyes flickered, his tone sharp and unapologetic.
After all, there was no need to be polite to someone like the Immortal Pouch King.
The Immortal Pouch King cursed inwardly but maintained a smile, recounting the events of the past to Chu Yun and the Wine King.
Hearing that the secret originated from the Night Emperor and that the Immortal Pouch King had been preparing for over a decade to forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch because of it, Chu Yun and the Wine King were already largely convinced.
However, Chu Yun remained unsatisfied. “This is all your word. Unless you reveal half of the Secret of Becoming an Emperor for us to verify its authenticity, we cannot agree.”
“You!” The Immortal Pouch King choked, his face contorting with anger. “You are deliberately making things difficult for me! Do you take me for a fool? If you reveal even a tenth of such a secret, using our King-level insight, it wouldn’t be hard to deduce the rest. You already believe me, but you want to reap the rewards without any investment. This is simply going too far, and I absolutely will not reveal it!”
“Hahaha!” Chu Yun threw his head back and laughed, then fixed his piercing gaze on the Immortal Pouch King. “Yes. I am deliberately making things difficult, and I am testing you. If you have the capability, go find someone else to help! Why come specifically to us? Agree or don’t agree, but without it, there’s nothing to discuss!”
“Wushuang King! Do you really think I am desperate for your help?” the Immortal Pouch King roared, jumping to his feet with feigned bravado. “Believe it or not, I’ll leave right now!”
Chu Yun sneered, seeing through the Immortal Pouch King’s insecurity. He also stood up, his sharp gaze pinning the Immortal Pouch King, and declared, “You think you can just leave? Hmph! If you don’t reveal this secret today, you’ll die in Archipel!”
“You, you!” For a moment, the Immortal Pouch King pointed at Chu Yun, stammering and unable to form a coherent sentence.
Star Maiden watched Chu Yun, stunned. She hadn’t expected the outwardly gentle and refined Chu Yun to be so unreasonable, practically a bandit!
The Immortal Pouch King was infuriated to the point of madness.
When had this last happened?
He, the esteemed Immortal Pouch King, was being threatened!
And by a young junior who had only been active for a little over a decade. To him, this was an absolute humiliation.
Yet, the reality was that he couldn’t defeat this junior.
Thus, he was threatened and helpless, forced to consider the dire consequences of not complying with Chu Yun.
“Immortal Pouch King, you need to understand. You came to us for help. What kind of attitude is this? Hmm? Are you trying to use the Secret of Becoming an Emperor to coerce us into working for you? Be sensible. Tell us the secret now, or I’ll have to resort to other means!” Chu Yun’s eyes glinted with a dangerous aura.
This sent a shiver down the Immortal Pouch King’s spine. He quickly glanced at the Wine King, who had remained seated and was drinking, for help. But the Wine King ignored him.
A surge of despair and indignation washed over the Immortal Pouch King. He finally understood—the Wine King was in league with Chu Yun! Together, they intended to extort him for the Secret of Becoming an Emperor. If he refused, not only Chu Yun but likely the Wine King as well would attack him!
“No, I absolutely will not reveal this secret! I would rather die!” The Immortal Pouch King was not stupid. If he revealed the secret, it would only embolden Chu Yun and the Wine King, leading to his own swifter demise.
He then softened his tone. “I can swear to Xingzhou’s Supreme Net of Law. As long as you help me successfully forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, I will tell you the secret. Surely, you believe me now?”
“That’s a viable method. Swearing to the Net of Law is the most solemn vow a Monster Tamer can make, and it must be upheld. Otherwise, Heaven and Earth will not tolerate them, they will be ostracized by the Net of Law, and even those at the peak of King-level won’t be able to advance. There will be endless heavenly tribulations to torment and destroy those who break their vows,” the Wine King mused, stroking his chin. He seemed somewhat satisfied with the proposal.
Chu Yun, however, was not.
He snorted, his eyes flashing with killing intent. “Fine. Here’s what we’ll do: you tell us the Secret of Becoming an Emperor first, and then we will swear to the Net of Law that we will do our utmost to help you forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch once we receive the true information.”
Seeing the Immortal Pouch King open his mouth to speak, Chu Yun quickly added, “Shut up. Whether you agree or not, this is your only chance.”
Once again, a naked threat.
To be threatened like this by a junior!
The Immortal Pouch King clenched his fists, veins bulging on his arms. This was public humiliation, completely disregarding his dignity, yet he couldn’t retaliate due to Chu Yun’s superior strength.
“As soon as I forge the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch, as soon as I succeed! I will kill you, Chu Yun, at the earliest opportunity! I must kill you, you little brat, you lawless, arrogant thing!” the Immortal Pouch King roared internally.
Chu Yun, through the Six Desires Heart Demon Scorpion, felt the Immortal Pouch King’s intense emotions clearly.
Chu Yun’s heart grew cold. This was precisely how such people should be treated. He had already resolved that even if the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch was forged, he would find a way to seize it.
What if he broke his vow? At worst, he could go to Danzhou. The Xingzhou Net of Law would be useless there!
As for Archipel, weren’t there congenital Land Whales? He could follow the Land Whale King’s example and escape into the deep sea. With the Sleeping Old Man concealing heavenly secrets and Xingzhou’s vast oceans, finding a Land Whale would be like searching for a needle in a haystack, a feat even an Emperor couldn’t accomplish.
Of course, this was merely a fallback in case of absolute necessity.
“Alright, I’ll concede one last time,” the Immortal Pouch King finally said after a long silence. “I can tell you the secret now, but before that, you must swear to the Xingzhou Net of Law that you will not attack me and will wholeheartedly assist me in forging this Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch.”
Chu Yun and the Wine King exchanged a look and immediately took the oath on the spot.
The Immortal Pouch King nodded; there were no loopholes in either of their oaths, and even if there were, the wisdom of King-level experts would have easily discovered them.
“Very well, I will tell you now. The Secret of Becoming an Emperor is to forge a Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch.”
“What?!”
“Immortal Pouch King, what do you mean!”
At this moment, not only Chu Yun but even the Wine King erupted in fury.
Everyone knew that forging the Supreme Grade Immortal Pouch was related to the Secret of Becoming an Emperor. Was this statement any different from saying nothing at all?
“Wait, hold on! Hear me out,” the Immortal Pouch King pleaded, his voice panicked as he saw the Wine King also stand up, his face a mask of anger.
“Then speak quickly,” the Wine King said sternly.
“No more tricks,” Chu Yun added coldly.
