Chapter 13: I’ll Cover Your Retreat
“Lord Dark Butterfly, why do you think the other party chose this place for the transaction?”
With a small black box in her arms, the black-haired girl with cat ears and tail closely followed Luo Shuangyue, scanning her surroundings with a vigilant gaze.
Her amber vertical pupils swept over every corner of the abandoned factory, while Jiuye let out a low rumbling sound.
“Who knows? Maybe they like places like this, or maybe they want a black market deal, but I think no one can really mess with ‘Polar Night’ these days.” Luo Shuangyue shook her head and spoke loudly towards what seemed to be an empty area, “Right, you guys hiding in the shadows?”
Clap, clap, clap. Accompanied by three crisp claps, the air at one corner of the abandoned factory stirred, and three muscular men in black clothing wearing sunglasses slowly emerged, escorting a frail old man.
“Truly worthy of Dark Butterfly; it seems the concealment device is still a bit lacking,” the old man said, wearing a dark green breathing mask that distorted his voice, causing one to frown involuntarily.
Black veins crisscrossed his hands, and whatever flowed within them was certainly not normal blood.
This was a person willing to give up everything for the sake of life, Luo Shuangyue slightly frowned; she did not like this old man at all.
“Since we’re here, hurry up and bring us what we want.” Luo Shuangyue signaled to Jiuye.
Jiuye understood and opened the black box in his hand, showing the three green potions inside to the three men before him.
A flash of fanaticism crossed the old man’s eyes as he raised his right hand, signaling the muscular men behind him.
The man nodded and took out a transparent box from his pocket. Through the box, Luo Shuangyue saw a pure white card quietly floating in the center.
“The sealing card left by Bai Ye. It took a lot of effort for me to acquire this treasure,” the old man said with a cold sneer.
“Cut the nonsense, let’s just trade,” Luo Shuangyue shrugged, indicating that she wasn’t the decision-maker here; she was simply here to prevent any potential backstabbing.
Paying and receiving at the same time would be ideal, but if the other party thought about trying to pay with their fists, Luo Shuangyue would not mind comparing the hardness of their fists.
After a moment of silence, the old man seemed to realize that fighting with Luo Shuangyue here was pointless. He shook his head, intending to complete the transaction.
At that moment, a familiar presence suddenly appeared within Luo Shuangyue’s perception.
“Magical Girl?! You’ve actually teamed up with the Magic Department, how shameless!” Sensing the magical girl aura, Luo Shuangyue immediately entered combat mode, and countless butterflies enveloped her as she transformed in an instant.
The moment her transformation was complete, a pure white light tore through the ceiling of the abandoned factory.
Two figures, one black and one white, descended from above—one attacking the old man and the other going for Jiuye.
The purple magical girl making a grand entrance inevitably faced off against the strongest among the crowd, Dark Butterfly.
“Rosemary, it’s you again!” Using her magic to form butterfly wings, Luo Shuangyue blocked a magic cannon shot aimed at her, looking up at the magical girl in the sky with a somewhat helpless and dissatisfied expression.
Xia Mo transformed into Rosemary still had a somewhat pale face; she definitely looked better than a few days ago, but her current state was clearly not great.
In other words, Xia Mo was still fighting while injured.
So you just ignored what I said a few days ago, huh? Luo Shuangyue scolded inwardly, calling her an idiot.
If this were an unavoidable situation like a magical beast attack, it would be understandable, but I’m just here to exchange items, so why are you here?
How much could showing up gain you? Is it worth it?
“Dark Butterfly, surrender! This time, I won’t let you escape!”
“Escape? Are you misunderstanding the gap in our power a bit?”
Hearing Xia Mo’s words, Luo Shuangyue’s lips twitched. Just because I was careless and you hit me once doesn’t mean you think you’re stronger than me, right?
Alright, today I’ll show you who’s really in charge!
With a heavy stomp on the ground, her butterfly wings flapped fiercely, and Luo Shuangyue’s speed reached its peak in an instant.
In less than the blink of an eye, she appeared in front of Xia Mo, and with a shocked expression, she struck the light purple magic barrier with her palm.
Bang!
The barrier cracked in several places, and Xia Mo hurriedly stepped back while using magic to stop Luo Shuangyue’s advance and repair her magic shield.
But Luo Shuangyue would not give Xia Mo that opportunity; her goal was to thoroughly beat Xia Mo until she didn’t want to be a magical girl anymore.
Now that you, Xia Mo, have run over here to take a beating, I can’t be blamed for it!
With no one else to distract her attention, Xia Mo was unsurprisingly pinned down by Luo Shuangyue and got heavy scrapes.
Though the magic shield was still tough and unbroken, Xia Mo had already been swept down to the ground by a whip kick from Luo Shuangyue, who started giving her a taste of righteous high and low strikes.
“Feeling proud, are you? Thinking you’re really amazing? Let’s see how proud you are now!”
The gray death butterfly flapped its wings, launching one spinning slash after another at the purple girl on the ground.
The cracks on the magic shield rapidly multiplied until, during a perfect diving spin strike from Luo Shuangyue, it shattered with a loud bang.
“Rosemary, you’re too weak! What qualifications do weaklings like you have to be magical girls?”
Grabbing the gasping magical girl’s collar, Luo Shuangyue brought her face close to Xia Mo’s eyes, staring into the purple pupils of her transformed state as she coldly stated.
“I…”
Luo Shuangyue didn’t wait for Xia Mo to reply; she flung her away and then glanced in the direction of Jiuye.
Engaged in battle with Jiuye was a magical girl dressed in gray and black, featuring highly mechanical cat ears and a tail; even her magic wand exuded a strong cat theme.
Siam, the last magical girl of Xinghai City.
In the battle between the two catgirls, Jiuye was being thoroughly beaten by Siam, crawling helplessly on the ground.
This black female catgirl really exemplified what it meant to be useless; aside from being a little intimidating, she had no other utility.
Flying next to Jiuye, Luo Shuangyue slapped Siam away, then hurriedly stuffed the seized sealing card into Jiuye’s arms before grabbing his collar and tossing him upwards.
“Get the stuff and go; I’ll cover you.”
“Lord Dark Butterfly, I don’t…”
Jiuye still wanted to resist slightly, but a swarm of butterflies grabbed his arms and pulled him out of the combat area.
After all, what Luo Shuangyue was about to do next was something Jiuye couldn’t be allowed to see.
