Chapter 3: With a Sister and a House
The blue flame licked the frying pan, and the sizzling sound slowly echoed in the kitchen.
A girl with a white ponytail rubbed her eyes as she walked into the kitchen. Upon smelling the delicious aroma wafting through, her sleepiness vanished, and she opened her eyes wide.
“Brother, what’s for breakfast today?”
She trotted over to the stove, her light golden eyes sparkling with excitement.
“Your favorite bacon and eggs.” Luo Shuangyue flipped the golden bacon over with chopsticks and helplessly said to his sister, “Shuangxing, you should go outside first; it’ll be bad if the oil splatters on your clothes.”
“Eh~”
“It’ll be a hassle for me to clean it up.”
“Cut it out, bad brother!” Luo Shuangxing pouted and ran over to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of fresh milk.
As she opened the cap, she was about to pour the milk into her mouth.
“Do you want me to carry you to the bathroom again?”
Luo Shuangyue’s voice rang out again, interrupting Luo Shuangxing’s actions.
Three days ago, Luo Shuangxing had gotten a stomachache from drinking iced milk, and Luo Shuangyue had to carry her in and out of the bathroom several times.
Now, with Luo Shuangyue bringing up the old incident, the effect was quite obvious, and Luo Shuangxing’s face turned red as she shoved the iced milk back into the fridge.
For a seventeen-year-old girl, being carried to the bathroom by her older brother was too embarrassing.
“There’s warm milk over by the kettle; go drink that instead.”
“Got it, brother~” Luo Shuangxing replied, elongating her voice.
Picking up the warm milk, Luo Shuangxing stood behind Luo Shuangyue, gazing at her brother with a curious look.
Last night, her brother had gone next door to take care of Sister Xia Mo for half the night, returning only at midnight.
Didn’t they do anything, really?
Her brother was twenty this year, and Sister Xia Mo was eighteen; they were childhood sweethearts, so it wouldn’t be surprising if something happened between them.
“Brother, did you really go take care of Sister Xia Mo last night?”
“Cough!” Luo Shuangyue coughed loudly.
What are you talking about, little sister? How can I not understand that?
What do you mean, did I really go take care of Xia Mo? Could there be any doubt about that?
Meeting his sister’s somewhat ambiguous gaze, Luo Shuangyue immediately grasped what was going through her mind.
Who had led his pure and adorable sister astray? He hoped she wouldn’t catch on!
As for the matter his sister was concerned about, Luo Shuangyue could only say that he was powerless now; little sister, you probably didn’t know that your brother hasn’t been your brother for two years.
Fortunately, Luo Shuangyue naturally possessed a somewhat delicate and refined appearance (commonly known as a pretty boy), which helped him barely conceal the changes in his body from his sister.
“Kids shouldn’t worry about so much; I’m completely innocent with your Sister Xia Mo.”
“Really?”
“Really!” Luo Shuangyue transferred the breakfast from the frying pan to a plate, signaling for his sister to take it out.
“Take it yourself; your Sister Xia Mo is truly sick; I need to make her another breakfast.”
“Oh…”
Watching his sister carry the plate to the dining table, Luo Shuangyue’s emotions were quite complex.
Last night, while applying ointment to Xia Mo, Luo Shuangyue had clearly seen the small fist mark on her belly.
It was small, very cute… ugh, very scary!
At that moment, the guilt in Luo Shuangyue’s heart surged.
Yet, Xia Mo was still softly comforting her, telling her not to worry about herself and to go back and get some rest.
“Sigh…”
Not daring to tell Xia Mo that he was actually the bad guy who had hurt her, Luo Shuangyue could only suppress his apologies in his heart and express his feelings of guilt through action.
Quickly preparing another breakfast for Xia Mo, Luo Shuangyue took the food box and left home under his sister’s still ambiguous gaze.
Standing outside Xia Mo’s house, Luo Shuangyue took out a white card from his pocket and lightly touched it to the door lock. With a pleasant chime, the front door clicked open.
Yes, Luo Shuangyue had a key card for Xia Mo’s house, just as Xia Mo had a key card for his house.
After all, they had grown up together as childhood sweethearts; it was only normal to be able to directly open each other’s doors.
Once inside Xia Mo’s house, a variety of magical girl posters filled his view, many of which were quite rare editions.
Previously, Luo Shuangyue only thought Xia Mo was a crazy fan of magical girls, but now, he couldn’t help but sigh.
Chasing after stars until you become a real magical girl isn’t necessarily a good thing.
Looking at the magical girls on these posters, how many of them are still active today?
Morning Star, who sacrificed her life with her companions five years ago to seal the Royal-class magical creatures invading the world.
Crescent Moon, who was injured three years ago when attacked by five Royal-class creatures, ultimately retreating due to her wounds.
Celestial Song, who was sabotaged, damaging her vocal cords, and can no longer sing with the melodious voice of a skylark.
Just a glance, and Luo Shuangyue spotted several magical girls who had already disappeared.
Sighing again, he walked to the outside of Xia Mo’s room and lightly knocked twice.
“Shuangyue? Come in.”
Luo Shuangyue opened the door and entered the room, seeing Xia Mo, pale-faced, leaning against the cushion, staring blankly at the huge poster hanging on the wall.
The poster depicted a pure white magical girl, looking like an angel, and in the lower left corner of the poster, there was a beautiful cursive signature.
‘Bai Ye’.
“Shuangyue, I found her.” Xia Mo muttered, gazing at the poster.
You haven’t found anything, Luo Shuangyue thought as he sat down next to Xia Mo, reaching out to pinch her face, forcibly pulling her attention away from the poster.
“First, let’s eat breakfast; you need to rest well right now.”
Opening the food box, Luo Shuangyue scooped a spoonful of porridge and brought it to Xia Mo’s mouth. “Eat this first, then we can talk about other things.”
Xia Mo didn’t respond, just obediently opened her mouth and drank the plain rice porridge Luo Shuangyue fed her, bite by bite.
It wasn’t until he finished feeding her that Xia Mo shrunk a bit and continued the earlier topic, “I saw her yesterday, the magical girl who saved me from the magical beasts ten years ago.”
“She’s still as beautiful, pure, and powerful as she was ten years ago.”
But what you might not know is that she was already a mother of two at that time… Luo Shuangyue silently criticized in his heart.
Magical Girl Baiye is Luo Shuangyue’s mother, his biological mother.
“Could it be that you were mistaken? Baiye hasn’t shown up for many years.” Luo Shuangyue thought he should end Xia Mo’s obsession with Baiye.
Maybe the person you saw was just a magical girl who looked a lot like Baiye?
After all, there are many magical girls dressed in white, like the recently appeared magical girl Linglan, who is one such magical girl.
“Impossible, I wouldn’t mistake her; that must be Baiye!”
