Chapter 57 A Little Bit Like
“Senior, are we just going to let her go like this?”
After obtaining the Sealing Card, the Dark Butterfly left without tangling with the Magical Girls, which made Luo Shuangxing somewhat annoyed.
Are you going to bully her and then run away? What a despicable person!
Having just come into contact with the Dark Butterfly for so long, she felt as if she had the Dark Butterfly’s scent on her, disgusting!
Of course, this was just a remark made in anger; the Dark Butterfly’s scent was actually quite pleasant, even making Luo Shuangxing feel that it resembled her older brother’s scent a bit.
However, there were still some differences, just like the scent unique to Senior Rosemary and Sister Xia Mo—although they were similar, one could discern subtle distinctions upon careful appreciation.
The scent of the Dark Butterfly and Senior Rosemary carried a more dreamlike sensation, while that of her brother and Sister Xia Mo was still within a more normal range.
“She just helped us once; we can’t just turn against her and capture her now, right?” Xia Mo smiled, noting that the Dark Butterfly was different from those wicked villains. They had no compelling reason to capture her.
The Director also endorsed Xia Mo’s decision.
“Although she did act against Senior Rosemary before, she helped you afterwards. It’s better to treat her cautiously until we understand her specific intentions.”
About sixty percent of the Magical Girls in the world belonged to the Magic Department, while the remaining forty percent consisted of lone wolves or those who were skeptical of the Magic Department and preferred to form small groups with other Magical Girls.
The Dark Butterfly could be considered a lone wolf; although she had organizational affiliation, the Polar Night organization kept to the rules and did not have a hostile relationship with the Magic Department.
After dismantling Rosemary, the Dark Butterfly did not take any further action; instead, she began to help the Magical Girls in various ways, which made the Director feel she might be someone worth striving for.
Both the Senior and the Director felt this way, but Luo Shuangxing, who had always regarded the Dark Butterfly as a big bad guy, felt even worse. No matter what others thought, she had not finished with that person!
“Tch, that annoying girl. Once I become stronger, I will definitely teach her a lesson and let her know my power.”
…
“Monise, hurry! Prepare a container that can withstand corrosion! I stole the trump card of Snake Fang!” Luo Shuangyue was not running away out of fear of the Magical Girls but was pressed for time to properly handle the Sealing Card in her hand.
For this task, she immediately thought of her tech-savvy boss.
Wearing a lab coat and standing in front of a dozen large screens monitoring complex data, Monise turned in surprise to look at Luo Shuangyue, “What?”
“I just had a fight with the Tyrant Python. He tried to ambush me with Poison Fog after realizing he couldn’t win, but I managed to intercept it,” Luo Shuangyue handed the Sealing Card she had created to Monise. “I suspect it contains the highly toxic essence of Snake Fang’s leader. If I can absorb it, I will have every confidence in dealing with this group of intruders.”
Monise took the card and examined it, silently giving Luo Shuangyue a thumbs up.
You are amazing; you are bold enough to think about absorbing something like this.
“Follow me.”
With a swish of her lab coat, Monise walked briskly, leading Luo Shuangyue into the core area of the Polar Night base. If there was a place safest within the base, it was undoubtedly here.
As the silver-gray metallic door opened, Luo Shuangyue followed Monise into the most mysterious area of the Polar Night base.
Here, she saw the two Sealing Cards she had obtained earlier, both sealed within transparent containers. In other areas, there were some dark objects that seemed to be organs extracted from magical beasts.
“I thought you had already removed the magical energy from the cards…” Luo Shuangyue murmured softly, looking at those two cards.
“Who would use it after removing it? The sealed magical energy must be used within a short time, but right now, I don’t have a suitable recipient here.” Monise rolled her eyes; she couldn’t just pick someone off the street to inject magical energy into, could she?
The transformation like Jiuye’s was an immensely complex project. Back then, to ensure Jiuye successfully underwent the transformation, Monise invested a full year of effort, ultimately allowing Jiuye to retain his humanity while gaining the powers of magical beasts.
“Poison… poison… it’s here.” Monise selected from a pile of empty containers and quickly found one specifically for toxins.
She placed the card inside it and signaled Luo Shuangyue that the sealing could now be undone.
“Are you sure it’s okay?”
“Absolutely. These are high-grade goods. I had someone skilled in alchemy make them.”
So it was the work of a Magical Girl… A look of realization passed through Luo Shuangyue’s eyes; it seemed Monise wasn’t entirely clueless about socializing.
Controlling her magical power, Luo Shuangyue slowly released the Poison Fog from the card, and sure enough, as Monise said, this seemingly ordinary container indeed blocked the corrosive effects of the fog.
