Chapter 410 Iaar’s Mission
Standing in front of Will’s room door, Iaar raised the candle in her hand and stood at the entrance, her shadow stretching long. After hesitating repeatedly, her hand reached the doorknob.
She bowed to Will, who was already lying in bed inside.
“Good night, Young Master. See you tomorrow.”
“Good night, Iaar.”
She nodded with a smile, blew out the candle, wiped the dust off the cabinet on the side of the room, placed the candle there, closed the room door, and slowly retreated from the room.
Walking through the empty corridor, still filled with the aroma of steak, she stood at her own room door.
Her beast ears’ shadow was projected on the room. Because she had discussed with Will how she cast this skill, her sleep time was a bit late today—but she wasn’t tired at all.
Standing at her room door, she still felt unusually awake, as if she had been injected with a stimulant. She even felt like she could go outside for three happy laps before coming back.
However, to face Will more clearly tomorrow, she slowly opened her room door.
She returned to her small room, filled with Will’s lingering scent.
She also didn’t have time to tidy up the room, so the arrangement was still the same as before—
An entire wall was covered with hearts taken from various Fire Dragons, each heart inscribed with a name.
Beyond this wall was her small desk with a mirror. Besides hairbrushes and grooming items, it solemnly held the book “Young Master’s Mission.”
The mirror was always wiped clean. She sat at the desk and could see the moonlight shining in from the window on one side.
She sat down, lit a candle, and placed it on the side. The candlelight, competing with the moonlight, illuminated her face from the other side.
She looked up, gazing at her own shining gray eyes in the mirror, her curly orange hair, and the slightly old collar Will had put on her neck…
Everything was the same as before, the same as when she stood in front of this mirror before Will returned.
She sat here, in the familiar environment, and felt “at ease.”
A sense of security she had never felt, even in her former home at the Hysterm Family.
“It’s strange, I haven’t even completed the mission left by the Young Master…”
She reached out and opened the booklet again.
A sense of peace that could eliminate all the anxiety from when she had lost Will.
Perhaps it had been many days since she had stood in front of the mirror to take care of Will, and she hadn’t opened this book in a long time. A thin layer of dust had settled on it, and the texture felt a little different.
“So, the Young Master can master the ultimate magic within ‘Ice Array (Attack)’ without giving any hints?”
From back to front, she flipped through the pages. She remembered every mission on it very well—
[Mission: Maintain and upgrade a suitable weapon.]
[Mission: Train the ability to brew hot black tea.]
…
[Mission: High-temperature direction training.]
It seemed she hadn’t completed these missions in the past few days, and even with Will’s return, she hadn’t undertaken any other missions.
“But even so, the Young Master seems even more satisfied.”
Iaar’s hand caressed her chest as she thought of Will in the afternoon.
Although she couldn’t see his eyes, both his tone and the smile on his lips reminded Iaar of the expression Will had when she made a little progress in the past.
He even cut a few more pieces of beef than usual at dinner!
She remembered Will’s appetite clearly!
“He had a very beautiful expression, one that made Iaar very happy.”
In the candlelight after dinner, as Iaar passed by to clear his plate, she saw him, leaning in his wheelchair, reach out towards the “Ice Array (Attack)” book Iaar had placed on the table.
He probably couldn’t see what was written on the book, but he reached out and flipped through the pages, as if feeling Iaar’s notes and traces left while reading the book.
Thus, he sat in the dim light, the candlelight leaving a distinct red dot under his completely black sunglasses.
His lips slowly, even unconsciously, revealed a smile.
A smile that Iaar had only seen before when she was prying at the door and he was studying knowledge from books, as if he had suddenly understood something.
Since his return, Iaar hadn’t seen that expression.
He always sat silently in his chair, not wanting Iaar to forcefully do what he commanded. Even though she was carrying out the missions he had left behind, he didn’t seem happy.
“…Is seeing the Young Master smile like that what Iaar truly wants?”
A sense of security, as if she no longer had to worry about being abandoned and no longer being “needed.”
Iaar tried and tried and tried to please him, wanting to be like before. If she followed his instructions, he would like her.
For a long time, she had been like a little dog wearing a collar—the most important thing for a pet is to be obedient; the most important thing for a pet is to dedicate its life to its master.
Before, the security she obtained was only by being by Will’s side, satisfying him, and obeying him. Now…
With her own consciousness, with her own thoughts, she saved her beloved Young Master and refilled her heart.
“…Perhaps, it’s not bad like this now, compared to going back to how things were?”
Finally, she flipped the book to the first page.
On the first page, she saw the mission she had copied word for word without any alteration—
[Mission 433: Defeat the Fire Dragon Al.]
“Now that I think about it, tomorrow might be a very important day.”
Iaar smiled, picked up a pen, and just like Will had done in his notebook, she rewrote the mission.
“Now, perhaps it should be called… Iaar’s mission… right?”
It was as if she had been lost in a labyrinth for a very long time and had finally found an exit one day.

The next day.
Opening the curtains, Iaar stood in front of the mirror.
She lowered her head, adjusted her maid dress, put on the bow, and then looked up at her reflection.
She was no longer wearing the black maid dress from before, but a pure white one that sparkled in the sunlight, looking exceptionally radiant.
She smiled at herself in the mirror. As always, the first thing she did after waking up was to check her smile in the mirror.
Then, she turned and walked out of the room.
The wind blew through the open window, and on her desk, opened by the wind, lay the new “mission” she had personally written—
[Mission 433: Have the Young Master personally defeat the Fire Dragon Al.]
[Mission 1000000: Truly give the Young Master the “salvation” he desires.]
