“Otherworlder” is a term used to refer to humans who appear in this world from a different one, the world where Jared and others reside. It’s rarely used. While people are aware of the idea that there isn’t just one world, no one has been able to unravel it.
However, otherworlders do exist. For example, in myths and fairy tales, humans with supernatural powers are depicted, and it’s said that some of them are otherworlders. Of course, that’s just “what’s being said.”
Still, as long as the term “otherworlder” exists, and myths and legends tell of humans who came from other worlds, people believe they exist.
“…No, seriously, do otherworlders really exist?”
“There aren’t any in modern times. I can guarantee that. But you see, there are records and hearsay from that era claiming the Progenitor was an otherworlder. Though few in number.”
“Even if otherworlders existed, Haru said the Progenitor appeared from a world without magic. How could someone from such a world become a Magician, to the point of founding a Magician Empire?”
“It seems magic existed as a fictional work in the Progenitor’s world. They apparently just recreated it in this world.”
“That’s preposterous.”
If Haru’s words were true, it would reveal just how extraordinary the Progenitor was.
“Of course, it goes without saying that they possessed ample talent, aptitude, and Magic Power to recreate fictional works.”
“I bet. There’s no way that would be easy.”
There is little documentation regarding the Progenitor. In fact, there’s practically none. They only appear in literature as the founder of the now-destroyed Magician Empire. What the Progenitor thought or did has not been passed down to modern times.
Therefore, the information Haru, who was there at the time, provided was surprising, but also incredibly intriguing.
“But why would the Progenitor… now?”
“The Progenitor is a nuisance to Dragons. For her, anything other than Humans are enemies. We fought many times.”
“…Her? The Progenitor was female?”
“Yes. It’s surprising, but she was a Woman, though many tend to think of her as male.”
I couldn’t keep up with the constant stream of information about the Progenitor. If there were a historian here, they would be overjoyed.
“Setting aside the Progenitor being a woman, what’s the point of worrying about a dead person? The Magician Empire is gone too, isn’t it?”
“That’s what most people would think. But what if the Progenitor were to be resurrected in modern times?”
“Huh? There’s no way that’s possible. Even if she’s the Progenitor, coming back to life after dying is impossible.”
This was different from shocking a person whose heart had stopped to revive them. How a person who died centuries ago could revive in modern times was beyond imagination. Their bodies would have decomposed, and when it came to the soul, Jared had nothing more to say.
For instance, there are beings like Wahash and Almeida who possess lifespans that exceed human limits. However, one could accept that by assuming some kind of technology was used. In fact, several species exist that are longer-lived than Humans, and if their mechanisms were understood, there’s a possibility they could be mimicked.
But the resurrection of the dead is something else entirely. Furthermore, it is a Taboo to even attempt, so no one even considers it. Of course, it’s natural for parents who have lost their children, or humans who have lost loved ones, to wish for their return. However, wishing and actually attempting resurrection are entirely different.
Stepping into a realm that Humans should not tread is ethically unforgivable. It’s not that no one has ever tried to bring back the deceased. But all attempts have failed and resulted in tragedy. There were those who offered many sacrifices in the hope of reviving a single person, only to end up as mere murderers without their wish being fulfilled. Nothing good has ever come from Humans meddling with matters pertaining to the dead.
“The Progenitor was a prodigy among Magicians, more so than anyone else. But she couldn’t surpass human limitations. She couldn’t overcome aging and died when her life came to an end.”
That’s natural. It’s the way of life for Humans. Haru made a bitter face towards Jared, who thought that way.
“But instead of that, the Progenitor succeeded in creating a method for her own resurrection.”
