Chapter: 20. Childhood Sweethearts are Justice
Boys’ dormitory.
“Right, I have something I want to ask of you.”
Kanon revealed an unprecedentedly serious expression and spoke to the nearby Uemon in an extremely earnest tone.
Uemon was helping Kanon put the last bits of materials from the bookshelf into a cardboard box.
In order to move all his belongings to the Shikikan at once, Kanon had specifically borrowed a small cart and requested the dormitory’s freight elevator.
At this moment, he and Uemon had already packed all their belongings into boxes and loaded them onto that small cart.
“What’s wrong? Why so serious all of a sudden?” Uemon replied with a puzzled expression, “I’ll still help you move your things to the Shikikan and such little matters.”
On the small cart in front of them, the boxes for the move piled up like a small mountain, and even strapped down with the cart’s built-in straps, it was not something Kanon could transport to the new dormitory alone.
“No, actually I’m not referring to this matter.”
As he spoke, he took out a stack of small notebooks from behind him.
The covers of those small, vividly colored booklets were flesh-toned and stacked up to the thickness of a dictionary.
“Can I temporarily leave these treasures of men with you?” Kanon said with a serious expression.
As a teenage male high school student in his youthful years, Kanon, whose development and preferences were perfectly normal, naturally took an interest in these contents.
Although it was quite difficult for students of the special course to leave the Artificial Academy Island, it seemed that the school considered the needs of teenagers in this regard, so there were still quite a number of stores in the academy city where these R18 books could be purchased.
What Kanon held in his hands were the thin booklets he had managed to acquire over the years, thick with the romance and dreams of manhood.
However, from the quantity, one might consider Kanon to be a very lecherous boy.
But he couldn’t entirely be blamed.
You see, before leaving Kawano City and coming to the Ark Academy, he had always had a pure and cute childhood sweetheart beside him, a beautiful girl with a plump and alluring figure, who innocently teased his heart.
Unconsciously, it was only natural for Kanon’s desires in this area to grow stronger.
Though his preferences were somewhat singular—no, or perhaps overly singular.
From the covers of the stack of books that represented his dreams as a man.
The words “Childhood Sweetheart” were constantly present.
Although the themes and gameplay varied widely, without exception, the female lead was always a childhood sweetheart he was familiar with, and they all fell under the pure love category.
Kanon had mustered a great deal of courage to be willing to hand these things over to Uemon.
After all, this would definitely make Uemon aware of his preferences.
For the introverted and shy Kanon, this was practically a moment of torture.
However, Uemon had an expression that seemed to say, “Everyone already knows your preferences.”
In response to Kanon’s serious request, Uemon thought as Kanon’s friend for many years, he could only give one answer—
“Then I obviously refuse.”
“Is that so? Thanks… why!?”
“Tsk tsk tsk, Tsukiie, you are still too young.” Uemon waved his fingers, “If I agree to such a request, the next development would surely be that I accidentally get discovered hiding these books and be misunderstood as having some strange preference.”
“No, what are you talking about? Isn’t your preference well known to everyone?” Kanon quickly retorted.
“If I were discovered to be an incurable childhood sweetheart enthusiast, only interested in natural air-headed beautiful girls with long straight hair and big breasts, how could I possibly show my face and live here?”
“I’m starting to lose track of your standards of shame.” After Kanon complained, he gathered his spirits and added, “No matter how you look at it, pure love books featuring childhood sweethearts wouldn’t be misunderstood as perverse even if seen, right?”
“Rather, it’s the perfect category of books, you could even hand them out like business cards without feeling embarrassed!”
“Taking out a book in the context of handing out business cards would already be thoroughly perverse, wouldn’t it?” Uemon looked at Kanon, who suddenly became spirited.
“While I admit pure love is excellent, if the female character isn’t plump, then there’s no need for her to exist.”
“No, no, no, rather than overly fat girls, childhood sweethearts are definitely the best, right?” As an otaku, Kanon became inexplicably excited at that moment. Once he crossed the line of exposing his preferences to others, his thoughts kept flowing from his mouth:
“Haven’t you heard this famous saying?”
“What?”
“There are only two types of girls in this world: childhood sweethearts, and the rest are just simple cheaters.”
“What an outrageous statement, you should apologize to the girls of the world!” After Uemon’s complaint, he couldn’t help but sigh internally. Poor Fuu, it turns out that in Tsukiie’s heart, you are merely a simple cheater.
The collision of souls between the two teenage boys came to an end.
Left without alternatives, Kanon could only take these top-tier pure love booklets featuring childhood sweethearts to the Shikikan.
—————–
On the way to the Shikikan.
Kanon pushed the small cart from behind, while Uemon supported the towering cardboard boxes beside him.
“Shouldn’t we worry about getting discovered by Konagi…?” Kanon murmured anxiously.
“Actually, there’s nothing wrong with it, is there?” Uemon responded with a somewhat confused expression.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t you like childhood sweethearts?”
“Ha, huh?! No way! I just happen to like girls who are childhood sweethearts!”
“Why is it that you always put up a front in this situation, Tsukiie.” Uemon continued with a look of exasperation, “So rather than hoping your childhood sweetheart won’t find out, shouldn’t you treat these booklets as business cards and hand them to her instead?”
“Huh? Handing out booklets as business cards is something ordinary perverts would do, right?”
“That was my joke just now!?”
Just as the two had pushed the small cart into the Shikikan.
Nagi had just freed herself from Tsubasa’s “Hell of Femininity” as she quietly returned to her room from the balcony.
“Ugh… so tired…”
After Nagi had changed her clothes and went out with Tsubasa.
Tsubasa had taken her around the commercial area of the artificial academy island in the name of “feminine training.”
Using the heavenly family’s credit card, which seemed to be able to buy anything, Tsubasa had bought Nagi many clothes.
And Nagi herself had been tortured as a dressing doll for several hours.
By the time she returned to the Shikikan with numerous bags, she was already exhausted.
Only then did she understand the pain that Rin once felt when being treated as a dressing doll by her parents.
It was at this moment that Nagi secretly overheard the conversation between Kanon and Uemon on the balcony.
“Booklets?” Upon hearing this, Nagi recalled what Tsubasa had mentioned earlier.
According to Tsubasa’s investigation, the booklets Kanon read seemed to be entirely of the childhood sweetheart type.
For a boy of Kanon’s age as a high school student, it was quite normal to read such adult comics.
But Nagi never imagined that Kanon would buy physical copies… does he like them enough to need to collect physical editions?
This sparked great curiosity in Nagi.
— What kind of booklets does Kanon-kun read?
— Hmm, this is just to research Kanon’s preference for childhood sweethearts; there’s absolutely no intention of teasing him.
— As a natural air-headed beautiful girl… wouldn’t it be normal to accidentally see his booklets when entering a childhood sweetheart’s room?
