Chapter: 33. The Power of Love is Infinite
“Xiao Nai, are you okay?”
Kanade asked worriedly upon seeing Nayin’s reaction.
He had heard of the term “final flicker,” which suggests that people might suddenly regain energy or appear vibrant just before death, as if squeezing out the last ounce of life from their bodies.
So when Kanade saw Nayin suddenly become spirited, memories of the times they spent together flashed through his mind, along with the feelings he had not been able to convey.
At that moment, Kanade had cast aside all concerns and excuses, and his earlier thought became more resolute—
He wanted to be Xiao Nai’s lover, no, being a lover wasn’t enough.
He wanted more, to take it a step further.
To be her companion in life, even if her life was down to its last moment.
He would never regret it—
Though Kanade was now filled with the resolve to “remain loyal” for Nayin in the future, he soon realized something was off.
Because Nayin’s complexion wasn’t the fleeting flicker typical of someone near death; rather, her face was becoming increasingly flushed.
How could such good vitality come from someone who was about to leave this world?
“This, this is—” Kanade looked at the rosy-cheeked girl before him in disbelief.
A bold hypothesis flashed through Kanade’s mind.
—Could this be… the miracle of love?
As an enthusiast of ACG works, Kanade had naturally watched countless stories that celebrated friendship, love, and justice. Furthermore, he existed in a world imbued with extraordinary powers, just like the protagonists of those stories.
Thus, at this moment, Kanade couldn’t help but associate what he was witnessing with the “miracles” from those works.
Love can create miracles, can awaken powerful strengths in the protagonist, can help loved ones cross the boundaries of death—
—If my love for Xiao Nai could awaken a miracle…
“Xiao Nai, I like you.” The instant Kanade realized he could save Nayin, he tightened his grip, holding her hands firmly.
“!?”
Kanade saw Nayin let out a lively, cute sound in response to his words.
This deepened his belief in his hypothesis.
Therefore, he decided to keep pressing—
“I like you, I really, really like Xiao Nai!”
“Wah, wah!?”
“Xiao Nai, you are the person I like most in this world!” As he spoke, Kanade leaned closer to Nayin, their faces drawing nearer—
“I like you more than anyone else in this world!”
“Uh… huh!?”
“I want to be with Xiao Nai, forever! I can’t imagine a day without you by my side—”
At this moment, Kanade found it hard to discern which lines were scripted to invoke a miracle and which were his true feelings he had buried for years.
However, seeing Nayin getting redder, he could feel that his words were having an effect.
So he disregarded everything else—
“Xiao Nai, I love you.”
“Meow, meow!?”
“I want to marry Xiao Nai!”
“Meow, meow?!!?”
“I want to build a family with Xiao Nai, and I want to sleep with you every night!”
Kanade’s body leaned further forward with each increasingly excited declaration, while the flushed and dizzy Nayin seemed overwhelmed by his momentum, gradually reclining.
When she snapped back to reality.
Nayin had once again laid back on the hospital bed, and Kanade’s upper body, which had been closing in, now rested against the bed as if in an intimate pose.
The distance between their faces grew shorter with each of Kanade’s words.
Nayin felt the space in front of her narrowing, with Kanade’s unabashed declarations echoing in her ears.
Her cheeks burned like never before, and her mind felt foggy; her heartbeat echoed like a wild drum, making it hard to breathe. She could only open her mouth, desperately and messily trying to inhale air, giving off a soft, sweet sound—
The suppressed feelings that had built up for so many years were finally released at this moment, making Kanade aware of his true intentions.
In the moment Kanade understood, he regained his sanity, having almost succumbed to the overwhelming “straightforward confession hell” brought on by Nayin’s improving complexion.
What appeared before him was Nayin’s beautiful face, completely flushed, her eyes misty, her voice reduced to cute mews.
She seemed to have escaped the danger of death, her vitality restored… even giving off a sense that it was about to overflow.
Kanade couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, but then he realized his current posture—looking like a perverted wolf aiming to take advantage of the girl before him.
—Oh no!?
Confessing his feelings out loud, pushing her down onto the bed, his chest pressed against two incredibly soft and elastic objects, feeling Nayin’s warm breath—his senses filled with her enticing feminine scent—
Kanade instinctively wanted to pull away.
However, in the next moment, he noticed that she showed no sign of rejection.
This fleeting thought spread like a cancer.
Whether it was because Nayin’s shy demeanor was too alluring, resembling a perfectly ripe fruit just waiting to be picked, exuding an undeniable air of intimacy, or perhaps because of the relief he felt from just expressing his feelings.
Under the interplay of various factors, Kanade’s recently regained logic slipped away entirely.
The feeling of wanting and needing emerged, driving Kanade’s actions.
—He wanted this girl before him.
—He wanted to feel proof that she was alive.
Kanade couldn’t help but slowly move closer to her lips, which were as glistening and soft as jelly—
“Meow, meow!?/////”
Seeing Kanade’s face inching closer towards her, with no signs of stopping.
Nayin’s dark eyes shook intensely, like an earthquake.
She instinctively tried to raise her hand to push against Kanade’s shoulder but found her body completely soft and melted, unable to muster any strength.
As their lips drew nearer, sharing breath in the charged air, Nayin couldn’t help but slowly close her eyes in anticipation, just as Kanade did, at that moment—
“Doctor, here—” Tianyu’s voice interrupted them at the last possible moment.
Unable to bear it any longer, Tianyu spoke up.
Upon hearing this, Kanade finally remembered where he was and quickly sprang up from the bed.
Tianyu shot Kanade a cold glance at his abrupt and decisive series of actions.
Though she was willing to support her brother’s romance, she believed that this kind of intimacy should be reserved for after they had at least become lovers.
However, Tianyu’s goal in calling the doctor was not merely to prevent their further actions.
At this point.
The fact that Nayin’s body was safe could no longer be concealed.
Thus, she had no choice but to resort to the plan B that Nayin had mentioned earlier.
A doctor in a white coat hurriedly arrived, identifiable by the nameplate on his chest as someone who specialized in supernatural abilities.
“It’s an awakening,” Tianyu said succinctly into the doctor’s ear while deliberately speaking loud enough for Kanade to hear, hoping to quickly clarify his question.
Though Kanade was restless, he didn’t miss Tianyu’s words.
He abruptly turned to look at Nayin, exclaiming in surprise, “Xiao Nai… has she awakened?”
