We live at the foothills of Dragon Peak.
Summer has ended, and now it’s autumn.
“…And that’s how the Wind Spirit King and I reached an understanding!”
I reported to my family about what had happened in the Wind Valley.
All the while meticulously scrubbing Revelia’s scales with a loofah!
In the Forbidden Territory, winter arrives earlier than on the eastern side of Dragon Peak. Perhaps that’s why the short summer passes in the blink of an eye, and the growth and harvest of summer crops also come sooner.
At the end of summer, we harvested the gourds that had grown vigorously, their vines reaching across the eaves.
When dried in the sun and carefully cleaned of their skin and seeds, gourds make wonderful loofahs.
So, upon returning from the Wind Valley, I’ve been serving Revelia in this way to help her recover from her hardships.
While listening to my report, Mistral and the others were polishing Lily’s jet-black scales in the same manner.
“Elnea-kun, you’re more unrestrained than the Wind Spirit King.”
“No, no, Lily. I don’t make decisions on my own, you know.”
Ruiseine smiled and nodded in agreement.
“We entrusted everything to Elnea-kun, so we will simply support his decisions with all our might.”
Yufilia and Nina nodded in agreement.
“Things are going to get fun.”
“Things are going to get interesting.”
“Sisters, please stay out of the Wind Valley from now on, Elnea-kun.”
Exactly what was going to become fun, and what was going to become interesting, was a mystery known only to Yufilia and Nina, who were even more free-spirited than the Wind Spirit King. However, Sefina intervened with all her might and stopped them!
The three of them started their usual “friendship,” throwing loofahs at each other like a sisterly quarrel.
“Hmph, include me too!”
“Hahahaha! Madrine-sama, the Head Miko is being unladylike!”
“Ugh…”
Wherever Yufilia and Nina caused a commotion, Madrine would always tag along.
But, unfortunately for her.
The Shooting Stars were watching from a distance. Perhaps unable to bear their gaze, Madrine didn’t throw the loofah she had raised. Inevitably, she began polishing Lily’s scales in a high position.
Speaking of which, this was something I had heard about.
It seems that the Shooting Stars were interested in the Dragon Race.
However, the dragons who could freely enter and exit the Forbidden Territory were limited, and Revelia, one of the precious few, unfortunately, did not easily allow people near her.
So, my wives had come to me to discuss what to do.
“Revelia doesn’t let unfamiliar people near her, but maybe Lily would be okay?”
“Elnea-kun, you’re so free.”
“Hahaha. But Lily, you like being doted on by everyone, don’t you?”
In the direction of our gaze, Priscilla-chan, Ares-chan, Nimia, Fiorina, and Rim were playing happily with the Shooting Stars.
“Nimia. I haven’t forgotten your betrayal?”
“Nyang!?”
Perhaps sensing my voice, or rather my dragon heart, Nimia hastily flew over to me.
“It’s not like that, nyang. Mist Older Sister told me. She said if I took Elnea Older Brother, I should come back right away, nyang?”
“You didn’t come to pick me up, did you? In the Deep Green Country or the Wind Valley, it was Lily who brought me back?”
“Nyang! It’s a misunderstanding, nyang, a misunderstanding!”
Nimia rubbed her body, covered in soft, fluffy fur, against me.
“Uwaaah, that looks fun!”
“Me too, Rim!”
“Oh, let’s play with Older Brother!”
“Let’s play, let’s play!”
Then, perhaps finding Nimia’s attempts to appease me amusing, the remaining little ones also rushed over.
And, without hesitation, they began rubbing their heads and bodies against me.
“Ouch, ouch. Fio and Rim are getting bigger, and their scales and horns are getting sharper. Let’s think a little more about the other person you’re interacting with, okay?”
“Understood!”
“Okay~”
They are such honest young dragons.
I petted the little ones in turn.
“Will you forgive me, nyang?”
“I can’t help it, can I? Nimia, I’m always indebted to you, so I’ll forgive you.”
“Thank you, nyang.”
As Nimia and I were making a lively fuss, Revelia’s head approached from overhead.
“I have not yet forgiven you. Hurry and serve me.”
“Yes, with pleasure!”
That’s right. I was currently serving Revelia in gratitude.
I gripped the loofah again and diligently polished the crimson scales.
Although the loofah looked hard to us, it seemed to provide a pleasant sensation to Revelia’s hard scales.
As I and Laira diligently served her, Revelia closed her eyes in satisfaction and curled up to sleep.
Revelia still occupied the mansion’s courtyard.
It seemed that the Mimicho Race and the Shooting Stars were still forbidden from entering the courtyard for a while longer.
So, the Shooting Stars watched wistfully from the veranda of the mansion as the little ones like Priscilla-chan and the others mimicked us, scrubbing Lily’s and Revelia’s scales.
“That’s it!”
An idea struck me.
“Hey, hey, Lily. Getting back to what we were just talking about. You don’t have any resistance towards the Shooting Stars or the Mimicho Race, do you?”
“Not at all.”
Then, I conveyed my idea.
The Mimicho Race and the Shooting Stars also wanted to become friends with the Dragon Race.
However, Revelia was a proud Wyvern, and would not easily allow anyone to approach her.
Therefore, it was very difficult to become friends with Revelia.
But Lily, having lived in the Demon Race’s Country, was accustomed to people and therefore easier to interact with than Revelia.
So, I decided to have Lily move a little.
Specifically, to move away from Revelia and closer to the mansion.
With Revelia by Lily’s side, even if people wanted to approach Lily, Revelia wouldn’t allow it.
In that case, all I had to do was have Lily move!
Lily got up and lumbered over to the area near the mansion where the Shooting Stars were.
As a Black Dragon of the Ancient Dragon Species, Lily was so large that ordinary dragons looked like young dragons in comparison. And, as expected, she was imposing!
However, the Shooting Stars, who had been observing Lily and us, must have already understood by now.
They must have realized that Lily was an intelligent and cute Winged Dragon.
“Elnea-kun, you’re good at flattery.”
“It’s the truth, so I’m not flattering you.”
“Elnea, Lily. The two of you are just like that. It’s starting to resemble your relationship with Old Man Sleigsta? Please don’t mix your inner thoughts with your words.”
“Ah. It’s a habit!”
It’s nostalgic.
I remember those days when I would converse with Old Man Sleigsta like this and get scolded by Mistral.
“I want to go to the Dragon Forest soon?”
Mistral might not feel it as much, since she visits Old Man Sleigsta at the Moss Garden every day, but I’ve started to miss Old Man Sleigsta’s pranks.
“Fufufu. Yes. You can’t enter the Human Race’s Country yet, but I think it should be alright to go to the Dragon Forest?”
“Yay! Mistral, please ask Grandpa tomorrow, okay?”
“Fufufu, I suppose I have no choice.”
“Mist is always too soft on Elnea-kun.”
Lily opened her giant mouth and yawned.
Her terrifying fangs and enormous mouth, lined up in a row, surprised the Shooting Stars.
However, Lily soon curled up like Revelia and began to breathe a cute, sleeping breath.
It seemed that she wanted to show the Shooting Stars that they could do as they pleased.
“Priscilla-chan, give the order. Teach the Shooting Stars how to interact with dragons?”
“Understood!”
“I’ll help too!”
“Me too, Rim!”
Well, the Shooting Stars had been interacting with Fiorina and Rim just a moment ago, so they’ve likely already learned how to interact with the Dragon Race without Priscilla-chan’s instruction.
But, let’s go along with it to get the little ones motivated.
The little ones, under my special orders, cheerfully ran to Lily and began to make a lively commotion, involving the Shooting Stars and the Mimicho Race.
“Then, we’ll leave the rest to you and start preparing dinner?”
In fact, it was already dusk.
Various things had happened in the Wind Valley.
Ultimately, I returned to the mansion at noon today, three days after Nimia had abandoned me in the Wind Valley.
Ever since then, I had been serving Revelia and reporting to everyone.
However, my wives were about to start preparing dinner.
Yufilia and Nina were caught by Mistral. Madrine was caught by Ruiseine. The five of them disappeared towards the kitchen.
The remaining Sefina headed towards Lily to take care of the children, while Laira was, as always, wholeheartedly serving Revelia.
“When it comes to Revelia, everyone leaves it to Laira?”
“Yes, I’m happy to.”
Looking at Laira’s genuinely happy expression, I also felt happy.
And, I felt a little jealous too.
Jealous of Revelia, who occupied a part of Laira’s heart, and of Laira, who occupied a part of Revelia’s heart.
“Hmmph. I won’t lose either! I’ll serve too!”
Turning my jealousy into dedication, I began to vigorously polish Revelia’s scales.
Will Revelia accept my heart?
“Still not enough.”
“Gnnnh.”
I thought she was asleep, but she was just pretending!
No, this is a Wyvern’s fake slumber!
With all the gratitude in our hearts, Laira and I continued to diligently polish Revelia’s scales until sunset.
“…And so?”
Dinner time.
As usual, we gathered around the table for a lively meal.
I savored the delicious food prepared by my wives after so long. While doing so, we engaged in casual conversation.
However, while polishing Revelia’s scales, I suddenly thought.
I express my gratitude and serve my kin, but…
I haven’t yet provided adequate hospitality to guests like the Shooting Stars, the Puppet King, and Astel.
So, at the dinner table where everyone was gathered, I made a new proposal.
“Tomorrow, let’s all go to the autumn harvest!”
Summer was over.
And after summer comes the harvest of autumn!
My proposal made the little ones exclaim with joy. The Mimicho Race and the Shooting Stars also became excited about the prospect of harvesting in the Forbidden Territory.
However.
Someone appeared to put a stop to it!
“Who would do something so troublesome?”
That’s right.
It was Astel, the Primogenitor Race with a cat-like personality, the Cat Duke!
Astel rejected my proposal while drinking a high-class demon alcohol that shouldn’t have been in the Forbidden Territory.
“Fufu, fufu. In that case, why don’t you leave the female cat behind and we can enjoy ourselves alone?”
The Puppet King, while having his attendant doll cut up meat for him, partially accepted my proposal.
But that wouldn’t do. The Autumn Harvest Festival wouldn’t have the same meaning without Astel.
And besides, it’s about time you returned my Naginata.
“Elnea-kun, you have something in mind, don’t you?”
Ruiseine asked, and I nodded.
“Yes. Because if we’re going to do something, it’s more fun to do it together! So, Astel will be forcefully participating too!”
“You tyrannical Dragon King!”
Astel puffed out his cheeks and turned away.
“Nimia?”
“Leave it to me, nyang.”
I deployed my ultimate weapon against Astel.
“Will you go too, Astel Older Sister?”
Nimia adorably licked Astel’s fingertips.
“Gah. My Nimia-chan!”
No, no, she’s not Astel’s Nimia! My entire family shouted in unison.
“Um, aren’t you going, Older Sister? It’ll definitely be fun!”
Priscilla-chan delivered the final blow!
Amazing!
Even I would be instantly charmed if Priscilla-chan and Nimia acted so affectionately towards me!
“So sweet.”
“Alright, Ares-chan, you’re going too!”
Ares-chan, who had been reading my mind and laughing, also went to Astel’s side and started to act sweet, sealing Astel’s defeat!
“Fine, fine, I can’t help it! Just this once. I’m only listening to the earnest requests of my Nimia-chan and the others, I absolutely did not accept the idiotic Dragon King’s offer!”
“Okay. Then, tomorrow’s Autumn Harvest Festival for everyone is decided!”
No matter the form, Astel’s participation was significant.
With everyone’s participation decided, the subsequent meal and post-meal gathering were more lively than usual.
