We live at the foothills of Dragon Peak.

Genealogy of the Sage

“B-but, Elder! The initial plan was for me and Lidyana to go, wasn’t it?”

Upon hearing the name “Lidyana” from Carly’s lips, Priscilla-chan flinched in my arms. Then, she looked up at me with a worried expression.

We suppressed our laughter at Priscilla-chan’s reaction and waited for Grandma Yuuri’s words.

“Well, you see. I initially thought I’d entrust it to you, but…”

Grandma Yuuri looked at me with a gentle smile.

Then, her gaze shifted to Yunyun and Rinrin, who were still hidden behind us, observing the situation.

Since Yunyun and Rinrin were not manifested, ordinary people could not see them. However, Grandma Yuuri was the foremost spirit user among the Mimicho Race. She not only sensed their presence but also fixed her gaze upon them.

“They look like they’re having a lot of fun, so perhaps we’ll go along for the ride. Fufufu, it’s not as though they won’t be returning, so don’t worry too much.”

Carly, along with the women who were caring for them and the grandpas assisting, all wore troubled expressions.

“My, my. This is why people of this family line are…”
“You say that as if it’s none of your business. Elder, she’s your own mother!”
“I wouldn’t know. I don’t remember.”
“Has he gone senile…”

The old man with a long white beard turned away. The grandpas around him watched with sighs.

Ah, I see.

As expected of Priscilla-chan’s great-grandmother. Her free-spirited and innocent personality seems to be a trait passed down in Grandma Yuuri’s family line.

“Oh dear. This is going to get noisy.”
“Indeed. But, it can’t be helped. Shall we convene the Elder Council?”

The elders who had been drinking tea at Grandma Yuuri’s house before we arrived began to depart.

The Elder Council is a gathering that handles tribal policies and important discussions in place of Grandma Yuuri. … Or rather, it’s a drinking party!

They’ll probably discuss what to do while Grandma is away, all while drinking alcohol.

Carly also left with a sigh.

Is this related to the handover of the guardians for the Dragon Forest?

Carly is the captain of the guard.

Ordinarily, a captain leaving would be unthinkable, but the Mimicho people were rather recommending Carly.

The number of Mimicho who will be relocating to the Forbidden Territory is limited. That’s why they are dispatching talented individuals, expecting reliable results.

“We’ll be a bit busy starting tomorrow. But, it’s already evening, so you two can relax for now.”

Unlike the those who left in a hurry, Grandma Yuuri calmly drank her tea.

She’s a real force of nature!

Grandma Yuuri is even more formidable than Priscilla-chan!

She seems to live life entirely according to her own will, unbothered by any troubles around her. And no one can stop her.

In fact, we want to do our best for the always gentle Grandma Yuuri!

This is the great senior whom even Baltnowar respected!!

“Um. Priscilla wants to stay at Grandma’s house?”
“No.”
“Ugh.”

Priscilla-chan looked up at me pleadingly. However, she was immediately refused and looked very sad. Then, she cautiously glanced behind me.

We too turned back to the person lurking behind us who had ruthlessly rejected Priscilla-chan’s request.

“Now, Priscilla, it’s time to go home?”
“Nooo!”

The woman trying to forcibly pull Priscilla-chan, who was clinging to me, away was not Yunyun or Rinrin.

It was the person Carly had named earlier.

It was Lidyana, Priscilla-chan’s mother.

“Now, Yufi and Nina, come to my house too. Grandma’s house isn’t big enough for everyone to stay.”
“Eek! Elnea-kun, help me! My stomach hurts.”
“Eek! Elnea-kun, help me! My head hurts.”

And so, the twin princesses were taken away along with Priscilla-chan.

Please forgive me. No one can stand up to Lidyana-san…

Unlike Grandma Yuuri, her great-grandchild Lidyana is a very strict person. She even scolds us without hesitation. Well, that unyielding, unreserved personality is probably characteristic of Grandma Yuuri’s family line.

“It seems the relocation plan is going to be quite the undertaking…”

As we watched the group being led away, those remaining shared a bitter smile.

“Fufufu. Lidyana really does worry about her daughter, you know. Priscilla is the next tribal chief, yet she rarely comes home.”
“Ugh. I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright. One must experience many things when one is young.”
“But, she’s too young.”

That last line was Mistral’s. Mistral bowed his head, feeling responsible for Priscilla-chan being taken around. Lyra and I also honestly apologized and reflected.

“But, Priscilla is also helpful, nya. She’s trying her best, nya.”
“Ah, Nimia. You’ve abandoned Priscilla-chan, haven’t you?”
“Th-that’s not true, nya.”
“Elder, I think I’ll go and see Nimia home.”
“Nyan!?”

Mistral grabbed Nimia, who was trying to escape, and stood up.

Nimia, you’re also afraid of Lidyana-san.

I wonder which one is scarier, her own mother Asher, or Lidyana?

Perhaps Asher, to whom she can still be somewhat dependent, is better?

To us, Lidyana was that kind of terrifying presence.

“Well now, let’s have a feast tonight. Elnea-kun, Lyra-chan. Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“Um, well then…”

It seems we’ll be able to eat Grandma Yuuri’s home cooking tonight.

Lyra and I, who survived until the end, asked Grandma Yuuri for our favorite dishes.

The next day.

The Mimicho village greeted the morning as usual.

Well, the relocation plan for the spirits had been progressing for some time, so this wasn’t new, and Grandma Yuuri’s eccentric behavior wasn’t a recent development.

The elders would handle any problems at last night’s council meeting, so it apparently wouldn’t have much of an impact on the lives of ordinary people.

Besides, we visit often, so we’re no longer treated as guests but as companions, as members of the family. Therefore, there wasn’t any particular festive commotion upon our arrival.

And so, it was just another ordinary morning.

“Well then, Elnea-kun. Shall we go out for a bit?”
“Yes.”
“Um, Priscilla too?”
“You have lessons!”
“Muuu. Mom’s being mean.”

Priscilla-chan, who was about to naturally take my hand and go out, was promptly caught by Lidyana.

And so, she was taken to her family home, even though we had all just finished breakfast.

“Oh, and Yunyun and Rinrin, please come too.”

Grandma Yuuri called out to Yunyun and Rinrin, who were about to leave with Priscilla-chan.

In the Great Eastern Forest, Yunyun and Rinrin were revered and respected by many Mimicho as the “Three Sages,” but before Grandma Yuuri, they were still mere novices.

The two obediently followed the invitation of the great senior.

I think I heard Priscilla-chan’s sad cry, but it’s probably just my imagination.

“Where are we going?”
“Us too?”

I felt them tilt their heads.

Our family couldn’t see Yunyun and Rinrin when they were not manifested. However, we had a strong connection, so we could understand their gestures and hear their voices through their presence. Grandma Yuuri, however, was on another level.

She could hear their voices as a matter of course. And it seemed she could clearly see them as well.

“Let’s go and greet the spirits.”

The spirits had already been informed of the relocation yesterday.

As the spirits who had gathered while we were talking would likely inform their kin.

However, it’s important to convey such matters by one’s own voice. Therefore, I, Yunyun, Rinrin, and Grandma Yuuri are about to depart into the depths of the Dragon Forest.

We left the Mimicho village, seeing Mistral and the others off.

For some reason, Mistral’s group politely declined to accompany us.

And so, guided by Grandma Yuuri, we entered the Dragon Forest.

“Perhaps I shall allow them to manifest.”

After walking a short distance into the forest, Grandma Yuuri said, as if an idea had struck her. Then, Yunyun and Rinrin manifested.

“We are grateful.”
“Thank you, Grandma.”

Grandma Yuuri’s spirit power was flowing into Yunyun and Rinrin.

It was not a malicious act of control, so the two seemed to have willingly accepted the power and manifested.

I thanked her, and Grandma Yuuri smiled gently. As she did so, her gaze shifted from us to the side.

“Fufufu, it seems there was a spoiled child here too.”

Grandma Yuuri raised her hand, holding her staff. Then, after a sound like popping water bubbles, a spirit in the form of an adult manifested before her.

“No cheating, alright? If you manifest other children, then I will too.”

It was a Water Spirit. Her light blue hair was stunningly beautiful, and she appeared as a radiant woman, captivating us. It was a beauty unlike that of humans.

When we first met, she was in the form of a young girl, but this is her true appearance.

The Water Spirit took Grandma Yuuri’s hand instead of her staff and began to walk.

It looked like a scene of a grandchild accompanying their grandmother on a stroll.

No, Grandma Yuuri is a grandmother, so that’s appropriate. … Is my thinking going astray?

“Hold me, hold me.”
“This one’s a spoiled child!”

When things get like this, it’s only natural for Ares-chan to manifest.

Ares-chan, in her young girl form, looked content being held by me.

“A father and daughter.”
“That’s not true, big sister. It’s a perverted boy smiling while holding an innocent young child.”
*Sniffle sniffle.* “Rinrin, that’s a harsh way to put it.”

I am not a pervert!

Honestly, who would tell her such things? Muttering such complaints, I followed Grandma Yuuri, who was walking ahead.

Grandma Yuuri’s movement was incredible as usual.

It looked like she simply took a step, yet she moved far ahead into our field of vision.

We hurried to catch up with Grandma Yuuri and the Water Spirit.

“That’s not normal spatial jumping, is it? It looks more like walking than jumping. What kind of magic is it?”

I asked if Yunyun or Rinrin might know. Then, Rinrin let out a sigh of exasperation, and Yunyun kindly explained.

“You yourself went to the spirit world, did you not?”
“…Ah, I see! Grandma Yuuri is skillfully utilizing the spirit world to move. …And she’s doing something that I can only achieve with Ares-chan’s help, so naturally!?”
“That is why she is called the Great Sage, is it not?”
“As expected of Lady Yuuri.”

Incredible, Grandma Yuuri.

It’s very reassuring to have someone of her caliber come to the Forbidden Territory.

Although the Mimicho were tossed about by Grandma Yuuri’s words and actions, we must be grateful.

Once we get there, we’ll have to take good care of the Mimicho in their stead.

“So, where are we headed?”
“The spirits are gathering in large numbers!”

Holding hands with the Water Spirit, Grandma Yuuri navigated the Dragon Forest with ease.

As the aura of the forest deepened, spirits of various attributes gradually gathered around us in proportion.

Some even manifested, hopping around us and beckoning us to follow.

“Um, there’s a place where the Spirit Kings gather up ahead. I think we’re going there to discuss the relocation.”
“Spirit Kings, you say.”
“Wow, I’m getting nervous.”
“Is it rare for even Yunyun and Rinrin to see a Spirit King?”
“It’s not easy for humans to meet a king, is it?”
“Spirit Kings are the representatives, or rather, the most powerful beings in the surrounding regions.”
“That’s right. As expected, they are great beings, so it’s not easy to meet them.”

Except for a very few exceptions, like the royal family members who willingly come to meet me in my vicinity. Those are surely exceptionally rare cases.

We proceeded through the Dragon Forest with the gathered spirits.

This time, unlike last time, we were able to reach the Spirit Village without any difficulty.

The roots of a rainbow hanging in the sky. Spirits of all attributes gathered, exuding a dense aura. However, the air was exceptionally clear, and a mystical space unfolded.

“It’s so much easier when the spirits aren’t in a rampage…”

I muttered to myself, and Yunyun looked back at me questioningly.

Rinrin was moved by the pure air and presence in the depths of the Dragon Forest.

“Now, spirits. Elnea-kun has arrived!”
“G-Grandma, what kind of greeting is that!?”

In the Spirit Village, several flat stones emitting a faint light were piled up to form towers. In front of such stone towers, Grandma Yuuri smiled gently. In response to her voice, the spirits began to manifest one after another. And among them were the figures of four beautiful women.
