We live at the foothills of Dragon Peak.
A Dance of Joy
I want to try using it right away.
With the pure white Dragon Slayer sword in hand, I can’t help but want to test its power.
“Elnea.”
Mistral is wearing a wry smile.
“Please recognize that the sword is dangerous to us.”
“Ah.”
That’s right.
It’s a Dragon Slayer sword, so it’s very dangerous for old Sleigsta and Nimia of the Dragon race, as well as Mistral and Jiludo of the Dragonfolk.
“I’m sorry.”
I apologize to everyone.
I wasn’t considerate enough to express my innocent joy in front of everyone.
“Don’t worry about it. I was the one who had the sword made. I gave it to you knowing the risks. It’s up to us to be careful.”
“That’s right. I know I said that earlier, but you don’t need to worry about it. Besides, if we’re always afraid of that sword, we won’t be able to face you, will we?”
“I know, but it’s still dangerous, isn’t it?”
Weapons with the Dragon Slayer attribute are truly dangerous to dragons and dragonfolk.
I’ve heard that no matter how hard the scales are, or how sharp the claws are that can slice through everything, they become like mere paper in front of weapons with the Dragon Slayer attribute. That’s how absolute their power is.
If by some chance I were to accidentally injure everyone, I don’t think I could ever recover.
“I think you’re worrying too much.”
Jiludo smiles kindly.
“Even though I am old, I was once the Dragon King. Mistral is the Dragon Princess. Sleigsta and Nimia are Ancient Dragon Species. We know how to deal with the Dragon Slayer attribute.”
“I’m scared, nyaa.”
Jiludo stroked his long beard and assured me there was nothing to worry about, but Nimia shook her head fearfully.
“I’ll protect Nimia, Priscilla!”
Priscilla-chan, hugging Nimia, turned her back to me and shielded Nimia.
“It’s okay, I’ll never hurt anyone.”
I shouldn’t be worrying so much.
As Jiludo said, they gave me this sword, knowing its dangers.
I think it’s proof that they understand their own strength and trust me.
Therefore, I must strive to get used to this Dragon Slayer sword as quickly as possible.
And eventually, I may have to become someone who is trusted and puts others at ease, even while carrying a Dragon Slayer sword.
“It’s not the weapon that is frightening, but the heart of the one wielding it. Be pure.”
“Yes. I will not tarnish this sword with sin. I will wield this sword not to harm anyone, but to protect everyone.”
“That’s a good mindset. With that, you can succeed me and become a splendid Dragon King.”
“Go, go!”
Ares-chan snuggled up to me.
“Of course, I’ll take care of the Spirit Tree too.”
As I stroked Ares-chan’s head, I felt a sense of joy radiating from the Spirit Tree Wooden Sword and Ares-chan.
“Ah, that’s unfair. Priscilla wants to be petted too!”
Priscilla-chan, who had rushed over in a hurry, and Nimia, also got to be petted.
“Oh dear. As usual, you’re very popular with the children.”
Mistral sighed in exasperation.
“Mistral, you don’t have to hold back. Shall I pet you?”
“Huh?”
I said it as a joke, but I was met with a cold stare.
*Sniffle.*
“Oh my, you don’t need it, Mist? Then, I shall be petted by Elnea-kun.”
Saying that, Ruiseine arrived, and I stroked her head.
“Grumph.”
Mistral looked displeased, but stubbornly refused to come to me, which was so funny that we all burst out laughing.
“So, aren’t you going to test its performance?”
After we had a good laugh, Ruiseine asked.
“That’s right. I want to try it.”
I tightened my grip on the heavy Dragon Slayer sword.
How much can I swing it without Dragon Energy? What will its power be with Dragon Energy? And how much Dragon Energy can I send into it?
I want to try various things.
“If so, how about Ruiseine tries it?”
“Me?”
“Mistral and I have a rough idea of its power. But you, you have no idea of the sword’s power.”
At Mistral’s words, Ruiseine pondered for a moment.
“That’s true. To know its power, sparring might be the best way.”
“Alright then, please teach me. I’ll start without Dragon Energy.”
Nodding to each other, Ruiseine and I faced each other a little distance away from everyone else.
I drew the Dragon Slayer sword, and sheathed it at my waist.
Oh, it’s heavy.
Without the reinforcement of Dragon Energy, it seems to be too heavy to wield with one hand.
I held the Dragon Slayer sword with both hands.
Perhaps it was designed for two-handed use from the beginning, as the hilt is long enough to grip with both hands without feeling cramped.
“Then, here I go.”
Ruiseine lowered her naginata to a low stance and closed the distance.
This was just a match to test the performance of the Dragon Slayer sword, so I wasn’t going to dodge or use subtle techniques, but purely clash blades.
In response to her upward slash with the naginata, I swung the Dragon Slayer sword.
“Chi!?”
A clear metallic sound spread across the Moss Garden.
Ruiseine’s naginata blade was cut in half.
“F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-(the rest of the text is missing)
