Sharin was pushed down by a mysterious black shadow that leaped from the bandits’ carriage.
Sharin was pushed down by the black figure, and a sharp blade was pressed against her throat, which she desperately tried to hold back.
Looking closely at the black figure, it could be confirmed that it had wings like a harpy. It was pitch black like a crow, and a long tail extended from its waist.
I instinctively grabbed the winged tail and pulled it sideways. Sharin kicked from below in response.
The person who was ambushed from behind twisted around, stood up, and glared at me. The lantern light reflected in their pupils, glowing orange like a cat’s.
Then, the voices of Karubene coming from behind could be heard, arriving late.
Upon hearing this, the figure in front of me quickly disappeared into the darkness. The other bandits, demoralized by the reinforcements, all scattered into the night forest.
“Brother! Were you okay? Wow, you surprised me by suddenly leaving.”
“Is Philiana alright?”
In response to my question, Philiana appeared with a dashing figure.
“I am fine.”
When we examined the cart, we found a lot of wine. Everyone was jumping for joy that their home’s wine was safe.
“Alright, let’s take the whole cart back as it is, and this one too.”
One of the bandit companions was captured by a Seilenos man. Given his small stature and thinness, it was likely he was the one who sneaked into the wine cellar.
The Centaur man looked at Philiana and let out a sigh again.
“What the heck, you’re quite capable too.”
“If you’re coming to fight, you should at least wear some armor.”
Philiana casually swept her long, greenish hair.
“Hahaha, I can’t argue with a beautiful young lady like you.”
Saying that, the man walked back the way he came.
“W-what do you mean, beautiful?! Stop teasing me already!”
Philiana’s face turned red as she glared at the man’s retreating back, angry.
“What? I just thought you were pretty.”
“Indeed, I thought you would pride yourself on that too.”
At Riana’s and my words, her ears turned even redder. It was visible even in this darkness. Philiana covered her face with both hands and ran off.
“By the way, what was that black harpy?”
Sharin tilted her head at my words.
“I have no idea. I don’t know either. It was incredibly fast. Th-thank you for saving me.”
We also started walking, following behind the cart.
