Hiroaki and Sharin, unable to move due to a curse.
A strange light flickered vaguely in Kuran’s dry eyes. Delania spun her staff and unleashed the gathered dark aura at Elana. Elana quickly dodged it to the side.
“Hee, so you’re going to fight,” Delania said, a smug smile on her face as she watched her out-of-breath opponent. White steam rose from Elana’s body. She must be warming herself with fire magic. Her cat legs were also equipped with sharp claws, which she used as spikes to manage movement on the ice.
Delania unleashed magic at Elana again and again. Black flames erupted from the impact points, gouging the ground.
“Ahahahahaha, this feels amazing! Come on, what are you waiting for? Attack me!” Delania cackled madly while swinging her staff. Meanwhile, the curse placed on me and Sharin was slowly but surely progressing. Black snake patterns were creeping up our legs. Veronica moved towards the now-insane Delania.
“Your fists won’t reach, you know!” An explosion occurred when Veronica’s fist collided with the black flames. The spreading smoke obscured their vision. In that brief moment, Elana was seen circling behind the enemy. Then, she unleashed a cannon blast from her back. It was about three meters away, directly hitting her back.
Red light glowed within the black smoke. However, the flames were absorbed by the aura Delania was enveloped in. Then, the same attack descended from diagonally above Elana. Caught by surprise, she took the full force of the cannon blast.
“I can predict your every move. You call yourself a Sphinx, but you’re nothing more than a failed beast.” How dare she say such a thing. But even though I wanted to speak, my body wouldn’t move at all. It was like being petrified alive. Gradually, I was unable to breathe, and eventually, I would turn to stone.
Elana, hit by the attack, managed to stand up. Then, a black shadow crawled at her feet. “Hey, it’s at your feet!” Veronica warned, and Elana looked down with a start. She immediately moved out of the way.
“What, are you just running away?” Delania’s chains attacked Elana. She leaped backward, but one of her front legs was caught. She was slammed to the ground and dragged.
Veronica rushed in from behind to help. Flames erupted from her wings, and she closed the distance in an instant. She leaped up and struck with her fist. But as she pulled her fist back, her body stopped in mid-air.
“What!” Delania twisted her neck and looked at Veronica. “Honestly, you half-bloods are all idiots. Pretending to be human, it’s pathetic to watch.” Black vortexes began to swirl around Veronica, who was frozen in the air. Multiple laser beams shot out from within. Her body was engulfed in light and explosions.
Without even time to cry out, Veronica, hit by the full assault, fell to the ground, smoking.
(Veronica…!)
“Fufu, now what shall I do with you?” Delania said, swinging her chains and looking at Elana, who was about to collapse. “Alright, I’ll make it quick. Watch your companions die.”
With that, she stopped herself from delivering the finishing blow to Elana and turned towards Piyo and Pauline. Sensing the danger, Piyo pushed Pauline back and took flight herself. Just then, a fierce blizzard struck. Piyo’s body tumbled in the air like a dried leaf, tossed about.
“It’s not just dark magic. Look, look, if you don’t fly properly, this is what happens!” The blizzard Delania unleashed slammed Piyo to the ground. Still, Piyo desperately tried to get up. Trembling all over from the cold and pain, she fixed her gaze firmly on the enemy.
“…What is that look? How dare a mere beast show such defiance.” Piyo spread her wings and ascended with wind magic. She then circled above Delania’s head.
“Don’t you think a weakling like you can use magic. I’ll show you the real thing.” Her staff glowed in response to its owner’s magic power. The wind that had been blowing intensified, turning the entire area snow-white. A massive tornado seemed to be forming around Delania. The cold wind stung her windpipe. Even the breathing she managed to keep up was barely possible.
When she opened her eyes slightly, she saw Piyo flying within the swirling snow. Her wings were frozen white, and she was being carried along rather than flying. Delania likely wanted to showcase her overwhelming power. She toyed with her almost extinguished life.
Finally, Piyo’s body vanished into the pure white blizzard.
“Did she freeze? How do you like that, this is real magic. Everything before was just a game. High-level sorcerers are the select few chosen by Lord Auroa. I am one of those chosen by Lord Auroa…” Lost in a dreamy fantasy, she slowly returned her gaze to Elana.
“Glory to us Dark Elves ♡”
