Hiroaki was cornered at the cliff by Auroa.
The bullet struck Auroa’s shoulder, hitting it directly.
“Gaaah!”
The blood flowing from the wound was freezing. I remembered the pendant with the magic stone that Sharin had stolen. Because of it, he couldn’t keep his surroundings warm.
Even if he could, in this extreme cold, his magic power consumption would be enormous. He couldn’t possibly waste it all on heating, could he? Sharin really had a nimble hand for stealing. I smirked inwardly.
I continued by driving another dagger into his other leg. Reflexively, Auroa’s leg moved away from the pain.
This match, whoever flees, loses. I won, because I fought until the very end!
Seizing the moment he lost his balance, I grabbed both his legs and pulled. Thanks to the snow at my feet, Auroa slipped.
I then dragged him towards the cliff, putting my entire weight into it.
“You! You loser!”
I could hear a voice cursing at me from above. He was probably desperately grabbing at the snow and struggling. I absolutely wouldn’t let him get to Pauline. I’d drag him down into the abyss with me.
I scrambled onto Auroa’s back as he tried to climb up. Then, I thrust my dagger into the wound where the silver bullet was embedded.
“Aargh! Let go!”
The accumulated snow slid, and Auroa and I, entangled, fell towards the valley floor. My journey ends here. But I have no regrets. The time spent with everyone, and being able to fight without running away until the end.
Besides, my soul, my courage, has not vanished. It was all passed on to Pauline, along with everyone else’s share.
“What are you trying to do?! If you release me, you can have anything!”
The demon’s voice echoed in my head. It’s Pauline. She’s trying to seal Lucifer, who was starting to wake up.
“What?! That insect!”
He seemed to hear my voice just now. He spread his wings, frozen by his own blood, and tried to fly away.
“Not happening!”
I stabbed my dagger into his cloak, which had transformed into wings. Black blood flowed from the torn parts. The blood rapidly turned into ice, robbing Auroa of his freedom. It’s amazing how this extreme cold is now my ally.
“I absolutely will not let you go up there!”
Still, his wings began to flap. Then I’ll just cut them off. I placed my dagger at the base of his wings and put my entire weight on it. The blade struck bone with a creaking sound.
Please, Philiana, lend me the strength to break an enemy’s wings!
What would she do in a situation like this? The blade couldn’t break the hard bone. Then there’s only one way.
I bit into Auroa’s wing. Using both my arms, I forcefully bent it. The wing bones, thin and light compared to his body, began to bend.
“Gaaaahh!!!”
Auroa’s pained scream could be heard. It’s light compared to the pain of those you’ve tormented so far, isn’t it? How does it feel to have your limbs torn off while you’re still alive!
“You! You rat!”
*Crack*
A dull sound and a solid resistance. I then tore off the membrane.
Black blood flowed from the wound, raining down on my face like drops of water.
I did it, I actually did it. At that moment, I saw the distant sky fill with a red light. An unusually large tremor.
“Fools!”
The ground shook with a roar. Pauline did it.
Thank you. Pauline, and everyone else. Sharin, Philiana, Nina, Piyo, Lauren, Elana, Cecilia, Veronica. And Karubene.
Even though I’m about to die, I feel no fear. I wonder if everyone felt this way. I’m filled with a sense of satisfaction and pride. In the end, I couldn’t reunite with my parents, nor could I return to my original world.
But I can say it was for the best. I was able to fulfill the reason I came to this world and my mission.
Will they acknowledge that I tried my best, even a little?
The view of the extreme cold, visible through the gap in the cliff, recedes further and further away. Together with Auroa, I fall into this darkness and enter eternal slumber.
Farewell, my other homeland. The people on the ground will continue to live their lives, unaware that such a grand adventure saved their world.
And so, my story reached its perfect conclusion.
