I succeeded in escaping from a desperate situation with the help of Karubene and my companions.
Karubene and I chased after the mastermind. The old Dark Elf was trying to escape into the forest with a few escorts.
“Hey, you! Stop right there!”
Two escorts chặn Karubene, who was in a hurry. But their faces were too rough to be elves. His skin was dull as if covered in ash, and his build resembled the Orcs I had encountered before.
“What are these guys?”
“This… I think they’re Dark Orcs. To think I’d encounter them here.”
So these were Dark Orcs… Were these the ones who incited the Forest Orcs to attack Philiana’s homeland before?
The two immediately drew their weapons to finish us off. Just then, an arrow suddenly flew from the side and pierced one of their shoulders.
Everyone there turned sideways at the attack from an unexpected direction. Elden of the Fawn tribe, who had guided us through the forest, and several of his companions appeared from the shadows of the bushes.
“We’ll handle these two. You two, please pursue the Dark Elf.”
As they leaped at the two Orcs, we slipped past them and ran into the forest. After a short distance, we spotted the Dark Elf, his footsteps stumbling as he fled through the trees.
Karubene, leaping over tree roots and rocks with incredible speed, caught up to him from behind and shoved him against a nearby tree.
“Hey, you! What the hell do you think you’re doing trying to escape alone? You’ve got some nerve, stealing from someone else’s home!”
She yelled loud enough to echo through the forest, pulled a dagger from her waist, and thrust it at the Dark Elf’s throat.
“Kuh, you savage… you demon…”
Hearing these words, Karubene became even more enraged, pushed him to the ground, and straddled him.
“A demon…? Shall I tear your tongue out from the root so you can never speak such insolent words again?”
“Guh- Gufufu, foolish, good-for-nothing demon.”
With that, the Dark Elf raised his hand. He was about to launch some kind of attack.
Before I could warn her, she thrust the dagger into his lewdly twisted mouth.
“Ugh, ugugu… Guh.”
Karubene, without a word, gradually applied more weight. The Dark Elf, with the hand he raised resting on the dagger, desperately tried to stop her.
“H-hey, stop around there. If you kill him, we won’t be able to get any information, will we?”
The man, unable to speak, thrashed about as if to say, “That’s right, that’s right.” Karubene clicked her tongue and withdrew her sword, dismounting him.
“Now, stand up quickly.”
We dragged the now completely subdued mastermind and returned to everyone.
