The female cat bandit, dagger still at the ready, was advancing towards me. As she drew close enough for her reflection to appear on my sword’s tip, I thoroughly sprinkled what I held in my hand onto her.
“Gah, what is this powder? What did you do to me?!”
It seemed to have hit, but would catnip actually work on her, someone who was half-human?
Well, even if it didn’t work, I’d escape with Piyo during this opening.
“Hah! Don’t run, you… huh? Meeeow?”
The woman began to sway as if drunk.
“Wh-what did you do, you… *yawn*…”
And then, she collapsed onto the ground. Seeing this, her other companions instantly went into a combat stance.
“What was that powder? Could it be some kind of drug?”
“Damn you, die, you bastard!”
From the side, one of the bandits lunged at me, claws extended.
“Ugh!”
I didn’t know where Piyo had come from, but they leaped from the cave wall and landed on the bandit attempting to attack me. Though small, the bandit, surprised by the attack from a blind spot, stumbled and fell.
“What is this thing? Get off me!”
“Hmph! Naughty thief!”
Piyo, still covering the bandit’s face, was being thrashed around.
“Gah… what in the world was that?”
While all this was happening, the woman, who had been intoxicated by the catnip, had gotten back up. If things continued like this, I’d be defeated again, so I resolved myself and asked her a question.
“Why did you people kidnap people?”
“Why, you ask?”
