Sharin and Arisugawa were asked to speak with the Lord.
Sharin and I were escorted by Centaur female guards and brought before the Lord.
“Lord Gelborg, we have brought the captured individuals.”
The man named Gelborg, surrounded by several retainers and guards, sat on an ostentatious chair.
“Hmm, suspicious characters.”
As the Lord began to speak, a nervous-looking man beside him interjected.
“It’s them! They’re the kidnappers, no doubt about it!”
Kidnappers? Has Sharin’s past actions become that much of a rumor?
“Wait, what are you talking about, kidnappers?”
“Don’t play dumb, thief! The disappearances happening in town, you’re the culprits, aren’t you?”
It seems we’ve been framed.
“No! It wasn’t us.”
“Watch your tongue, beast! Execute them quickly!”
At the retainer’s words, the Centaur woman behind us spoke up.
“Please wait. There is no evidence that these people are the culprits. Why not hear their story first?”
The man gave a slight click of his tongue at her words. The Lord prompted Sharin for her opinion.
Sharin explained that she had been driven from her former territory by Orcs. However, the Lord scoffed at her story.
“Orcs? There are no such things anywhere. Rather, this town has become peaceful with you bandit groups gone.”
“Th-that can’t be! There must be some mistake. We did fight.”
The retainer narrowed his eyes and sneered.
“It’s true. I am not lying.”
Despite Sharin’s pleas, the Lord ordered us to be returned to the cell.
