Two people who repelled a werewolf with silver trinkets
Pauline’s voice could be heard from afar.
“Piyo-chan, are you alright, Hiroaki-san?!”
Our companions gathered around us as we collapsed. I was staring blankly at the backs of the armed villagers receding into the distance, but suddenly my consciousness was forcibly pulled back by an impact to my head.
“You idiot! Is this what you call an operation?! It’s too dangerous!”
I clutched my head and looked up to meet Nina’s angry gaze. Well, it was no wonder she was angry. I myself thought this operation was pretty reckless. Next to me, Pauline was trying to wake Piyo, whose energy had completely drained.
“Fuuu ~ I’m hungry ~”
“Oh, Piyo-chan, I’ll make you something to eat now.”
At that moment, Elana approached with a strangely solemn expression. Was she angry at me for my recklessness too? Then, with a sigh, she lowered her head.
“Honestly, you’ve got me stumped. I never thought you’d drive them away with such trinkets.”
Elana picked up a bent, blood-stained miniature spoon.
“Ahaha… I guess you’re disappointed.”
“No, I mean what I said. Both of you, especially Pillon, you.”
Piyo, whose name had been called, rubbed her sleepy eyes.
“Huh? Piyo? What did Piyo do?”
“I always thought a powerful magician was someone with immense magical power and the ability to wield it. But I guess I was wrong. Seeing you now, no, looking back at your past, I see that. You always demonstrated your maximum abilities within your limited magic power.”
She was being praised, but Pillon herself was spacing out.
“The amount of magic power is important, but a truly strong magician is always thinking and using their power precisely and minimally. I became complacent with my own power and forgot to be resourceful. I retract what I said before. I apologize, Magician Pillon.”
With that, Elana bowed deeply. Everyone was surprised into silence by her actions. Only Piyo didn’t seem to get it and looked around from her seated position.
“Piyo is hungry.”
“Fufufu, indeed. Come, we must give our brave hero a feast.”
Philiana smiled gently and picked up the limp Piyo.
