I met two beautiful mermaids on the sandy beach where I was thrown.
For the time being, I decided to ask about the Sea Dragon Tribe witch, Diepser, to organize what was happening.
“Is he quite famous in the sea?”
“Hmm, well, not at all famous. But I know him through a slight connection. He has skills, but he’s incredibly troublesome.”
Aileen replied with a cute smile.
“Well, you’re unlucky too. Getting involved with him never ends well. You end up making a strange contract and losing your life.”
Alex continued. It seemed both of them had had their share of trouble with him.
“I see, I understand. By any chance, have you seen my companion? She’s a girl.”
I looked around, but there was no sign of anyone. It was just a beautiful sandy beach. Why were there only these two in such a deserted place? What kind of place is this, really?
“A girl? I haven’t seen her. I’ll look around a bit. Arisugawa, you take care of the land.”
“Huh? You can’t walk?”
I remembered that when these merfolk came ashore, their fins were supposed to change into legs. Mizukazu, whom I had met before, had said so. Alex looked at me as if he couldn’t believe what I was saying.
“Huh? What are you talking about? Mermaids can’t walk. Haven’t you seen a mermaid before? Does that place called Kubaiá only have elves?”
No, I’m not an elf… As I was about to say that, I remembered that there were no humans here. If I had been safely sent to the other continent, it would have been as the Unicorn Man, Exam, had said. It would be more advantageous for me to remain an elf.
“No, well, uh, I met a race called Wajinryo, and they could walk.”
The two still looked disbelieving. This meant they didn’t know about Wajinryo, so it seemed I had truly been sent to a different continent.
“W-well, let’s put that aside. I’ll go look for my companion. Let me know if you find anything.”
Aileen said understood and returned to the sea with Alex. I looked around again. A smooth sandy beach, a hot wind, a clear blue sea. It was just like a resort. Living in such a wonderful place wouldn’t be so bad for a mermaid. I decided to walk along the quiet sandy beach for a while.
It seemed to stretch endlessly into white sand, but then figures began to appear in the distance. Not just one or two, but many people enjoying their time on the beach. Perhaps my companion was there… I looked down at my body. My half-wet, dirty clothes, my sandy hair, and seaweed clinging to my shoulder. It was too suspicious. I couldn’t possibly search for my companion in this state.
I’d go back and ask those two if there was a clothing store. And a place to take a bath. Just as I thought this and turned around, a pink centaur suddenly appeared right in front of me. You’d want to ask what I was talking about, but that’s really what happened. Judging by its size, it was likely a child. It was looking at me with a puzzled expression. Even if you stare at me like that, I don’t know what’s going on either.
