Reflecting on my past, I once again understood the joy of traveling with my best friend.
The beach at night is quiet. I can see Dark Harpies in the distance, having fun, setting off fireworks, and swimming. With that light at my back, I walked into the opposite darkness. If they were coming, they’d likely prefer a deserted place.
As the light receded, my heart began to stir. It felt like I was heading further into a bad situation. Then, I reached the edge of the beach, a place strewn with carelessly scattered, jagged rocks. The surroundings were completely filled with perpetual darkness, and even the moon was hidden by overgrown grass and steep cliffs.
Then, from the depths of the darkness, dull, glowing scales appeared.
“Hey, I was waiting for you. How did you find my place? We can talk properly here.”
“Right, but I dislike the dark, so let’s make this quick. First, a question.”
He placed a finger on his lips, as if to stop me from starting the conversation.
“Shh, calm down. Besides, I’m the one who’s going to ask questions. What kind of group are you? Why are you all women? And how did you realize the existence of another world?”
“I told you before, we’re travelers. It’s a coincidence that we’re all women. As we traveled, the numbers increased, and this is how we ended up.”
Diepser tilted his head slightly.
“Hmm, I see. So, why did you decide to travel? Did you suddenly think of it one day? Were your parents killed by Dark Elves?”
He let out a sarcastic laugh. I still can’t trust him. Should I really tell this kind of guy about my original world?
“Well… I was originally from another world, and one day I suddenly came to this world. Since then, well, various things happened, and I’ve been traveling.”
“You’re from another world? Where is that?”
It seemed even he didn’t know. I told him about the time I chased a cat and almost got hit by a truck.
“I see. So, you came from another dimension. It’s not an impossible story; I hear that some powerful Magicians can do it. I can’t do it yet, but it might not be bad to try someday.”
Impossible. If this guy came over, it would be a disaster. I wished Diepser would live his life without the power to achieve it.
“Next, it’s my turn to ask. Look at this letter. It was something a Dark Elf had. This is how I noticed this continent.”
“Hmm… what is this cheesy poem that looks like a kid wrote it? Is this what’s popular among Dark Elves?”
Unfortunately, he didn’t seem to know. However, the “another world” written in this letter exists like this. It’s not entirely wrong; there must be a hint somewhere.
“‘Through hell,’ huh, but it’s not real hell, is it? Forest of Suicides, Forest of Harpies? Sea of Blood, well, hell’s water is red, I guess. A place where the living and the dead meet, are you talking about Limbo? All of this is metaphorical, isn’t it?”
I didn’t want to imagine what he had seen in hell, but there was no help for it if he didn’t know.
“I see, thank you very much. So even the deep-sea Witch couldn’t figure it out. By the way, why were you in such a remote place?”
“Ah, there are many untouched Magic Stones buried on the seabed there. And there’s grass that doesn’t grow here. It’s a good place, except for the many creepy fish.”
I see, so he was excavating there alone. For the time being, I had heard what I needed to, so I thanked him and left.
