I found Calicall being attacked by an animal that looked like a hyena.
The hyena boss seemed smarter than I had expected. It sank its fangs into a thin branch, then dangled from it, putting its full body weight onto it. The branch creaked and groaned, threatening to snap.
“Calicall, get back to the center of the tree! That branch is going to break!”
“Wait for me, I’m coming to help!”
Piyo, who had failed its attack once, circled around and headed back towards the tree. Then, to my surprise, the hyena hanging from the branch let go. The bent branch, no longer weighed down, snapped back into its original shape. Calicall swayed violently with it. The hyena took distance again and bit onto the branch. This must be their strategy to wear down the prey until it falls from the tree. They are terrifying animals with the ability to learn from experience.
While the hyena was regaining its composure after letting go, Piyo couldn’t intervene. Worse yet, the other hyenas lurking around were about to bite at its tail feathers.
Meanwhile, Calicall’s stamina was rapidly depleting. In this situation, I had no choice but to break through. I ignored the hyenas blocking my path and ran towards her. But they tried to stop me by biting at the hem of my pants.

As I reached out to pull them off, they tried to bite my hand instead. I hastily pulled my hand back. I heard their jaws snap shut with a clack. It was like a bear trap. Damn it, I got too caught up dealing with the enemies right in front of me! When I looked back, the boss’s fangs were sinking into the branch that looked ready to break. Finally, the branch couldn’t take it anymore and snapped with a loud crack, falling to the ground.
At the same time, Calicall’s small body went flying through the air. I saw Elana beside me open her mouth, unable to make a sound. She tumbled downwards, spinning in the air. On the ground, the boss eagerly waited, panting, and raised its forelegs.
Calicall continued to fall towards it, helpless. She thrust her arms forward, towards its gaping maw…
However, fortunately, as her front claws snagged its nose, she spun around and narrowly escaped its massive jaws. She then rolled and slid down its back. The hyena boss, having lost its prey, writhed and started to chase her.
If only she could reach the ground, gain footing, and run back here… No, she wasn’t just rolling down its back; she was deliberately circling around, digging in her claws. The fur where she scratched was standing on end with a crackling sound. A moment later, the hyena’s scream was heard.
“Gyaaa, gyan, gyaaa!”
Calicall shook her body violently, knocking it off, and then rolled on the ground, rubbing her back against it. Her subordinates looked back at their boss, confused. Calicall, having been knocked off, regained her footing, lowered her stance, and glared at the enemy.
