Led by Calicall’s brother, I arrived at the Sage’s home.
As dusk settled, we approached the hut in the forest. I gently knocked on the old door. Diepser had said it was a Unicorn, but I wondered what kind of person would emerge. I hoped they would listen to our story.
After hearing the sound of footsteps, the door creaked open. A woman with white hair appeared. In the dimness, her pure white form seemed to glow. She had beautiful, pure white long hair, a horse’s body of the same color, and even white eyelashes. From the center of her forehead, a long, straight horn extended. Her divine presence made us all gasp. As we stood in a daze, her faintly colored lips parted.
“What is it? Are you lost in a forest like this?”
After a pause, I shook my head.
“N-no, that’s not it. We came to see you. Uh, are you the Sage?”
My words stumbled due to nervousness; it was embarrassing.
“Yes, well, it’s strange to say myself, but everyone calls me that. What brings you all the way to a place like this?”
“We just wanted to talk. We’ve been chasing Dark Elves and have come this far. We’re at a dead end, and we thought you might understand the meaning of this letter.”
I handed the tattered envelope to the Sage. She furrowed her brow as she read its contents.
“Where did you find this?”
“We obtained it while pursuing the Dark Elves. We have to stop them before they reach this place, called Heaven.”
The woman’s brow furrowed even deeper at my words. Her expression suggested she knew something.
“I see… Well, come inside. It’s not very large, though.”
Elana said she would wait outside and sat down in front of the door. The other members were allowed inside the Sage’s home. The interior was simple, with stacks of old books scattered about.
“Please wait, I’ll bring you some tea now.”
She quietly poured hot water into a pot. I wondered if she got lonely living alone in a place like this. She looked young, but perhaps that was because she was a Sage. Cups for everyone were placed on the table.
“I’m sorry for intruding with such a large group.”
“No, it must have been difficult to come to a place like this. Why are you chasing Dark Elves?”
I explained that we had come from another continent. As she listened, her gaze shifted to the letter. Suddenly, her half-finished cup appeared in front of me. Perhaps now was the time… I reached for the sleeping potion I had kept in my pocket.
