The group finally arrived at the next town, Sciento Town.
The first inn they visited had few vacancies and was no good, but they were able to secure a place at the next one. The bath and toilet were shared, but it was sufficient. They immediately borrowed the bath and took a shower. The room was small, unlike a hotel, with two bunk beds facing each other, but it was enough. Ah, this is what I’d been waiting for, I can finally rest.
As soon as I lay down, my body relaxed, and my eyelids grew heavy. I worry about everyone who said they wanted to look around the town, but they’ll be fine. They should be used to this world by now, and they can move more freely than I, a human, can.
“Sharin, I’m going to sleep for a bit~”
I called out to Sharin, who was likely nearby. A muffled “Mmm” came from the corner of the room. I’m hungry, but sleep has the upper hand right now. I’ll go eat something when I wake up…
When I opened my eyes, a brown ceiling vaguely came into view. Then, a fluffy blanket. That’s right, I fell asleep as soon as I entered the room. Outside the window, the sun was beginning to set. I had a good night’s sleep for the first time in a while. Looking around the room, which was almost entirely taken up by the two bunk beds, I couldn’t see anyone. Perhaps they went out while I was sleeping. Thinking that, I raised my gaze and saw Elana sleeping on the upper bunk. And on the upper bunk of the other bed was Sharin. Come to think of it, how did Elana get up there? Did she climb a ladder? Well, being feline, she probably could.
Right, what about everyone else? I need to go look for them soon. As I left the room, my eyes fell on the cart in the luggage storage area. It couldn’t fit in the room, so we left it outside. Most of the contents were camping equipment and Lauren’s manga, so not much damage would be done even if it were stolen. That’s right, I’d been meaning to ask if we could get rid of this mountain of manga, since it’s so bulky.
Before I went to look for everyone, I knocked on Lauren’s door.
“Lauren, are you there? I’m coming in. Huh, it’s just Veronica.”
Veronica was lying on the bed, reading Lauren’s manga. Does she read these things too? Unexpected. Maybe it’s because the protagonist is a Dark Harpy.
“What, do you need something?”
“No, I was just wondering if Lauren was here. Veronica, you read manga too?”
“Well, it’s good for killing time. That Spider Woman went out, apparently to buy some new books.”
No way, is she trying to increase the number of those? I should stop her soon, but for the time being, I won’t throw away what’s here yet. Veronica spent most of her time hunched over on the cart. She probably couldn’t sleep and was bored.
When I went outside, there seemed to be more people than in the morning, perhaps because many students were on their way back. Are they all still wandering around town? I looked at the map on the bulletin board to see where to start searching. But it was very large, and I couldn’t possibly cover it alone. Besides, they should have gone to different places, so it might be better to wait at the inn than to wander around aimlessly.
That being said, I myself am interested in the schools in this world. For the time being, I decided to check the buildings nearby. There are so many schools in this town. Just by quickly checking the bulletin board, I saw elementary, middle, and universities. I didn’t see any high schools, but they’re probably somewhere. If I lived here, my commute time would be drastically reduced. I’m envious.
The closest building I found was a university, labeled New Wing Literature Special University. A university for humanities. Students were constantly coming and going. Ah, right, this is no time to be spacing out, I was looking for my companions. First, I’ll try the places Piyo and Philiana might go.
