They Met the Wingless and the Honeybees
The Wingless had said earlier that she couldn’t call for companions, but what did that mean?
“W-we flap our wings to send scents to our companions. But as you can see, my wings are short from birth so I can’t do that.”
As she said, the wings on her back seemed too short to flap.
“See? It’s not dangerous.”
“Well then…”
At Piyo’s words, Philiana sheathed her sword.
“What are you all doing?”
“We are on a journey, each for our own purpose.”
Sharin answered the Wingless’s question.
“I see. Then I will guide you outside of our territory.”
We started to walk through the forest, following her. Suddenly, we stopped as if struck by lightning.
Piyo peered into our faces with concern.
“Th-this is terrible, a companion is being attacked!”
“Companion? Attacked? Where?”
We looked around, but there was no particular change. Was this the scent they had mentioned earlier?
“It’s dangerous, so let’s take a detour.”
“Huh? Is that okay? Aren’t you going to help your companion?”
At Philiana’s words, the Wingless wore a troubled expression.
“But it’s dangerous, you know? We don’t know what’s there.”
“Your friend is being attacked, right? We have to help!”
At Piyo’s remark, we changed our course and headed towards where the Wingless’s companion was being attacked.
When we arrived, several Honeybees, with the same form as the Wingless, were surrounding a single creature that was more than a size larger than them. Its color and body shape were similar to a Honeybee, but it was more spiky and its ferocity was evident.
“We call that a Killerbee. As the name suggests, they are terrifying beings, a belligerent race that kidnaps our companions and attacks people.”
The difference in power was overwhelming, and though they were desperately fighting with spears, several had already been defeated.
“See? Terrifying, isn’t it? I’m no match for it.”
“But we have to help! Hey Hiro, you think so too, right?”
It was true, we might be able to do something if it was just one of them. We drew our weapons and attacked the Killerbee.
