On the creepy forest road, we discovered the corpses of two dinosaur-like animals.
Nina, unconcerned about the corpses, tries to re-enter the forest. Looking back, Sharin is staring intently at the bodies.
“What are you doing? We’ll be left behind.”
“Indeed, but I think something is strange. Don’t you think the corpses are too clean for them to have killed each other?”
Upon closer inspection, the two bodies had no noticeable wounds and looked as if they were sleeping. I tentatively touched the head of the One-Eyed Garulga with the tip of my shoe.
Then, the corpse swayed and its body moved. Sharin and I hastily retreated.
“Wh-what, it wasn’t a corpse?!”
As if in response, the Death Hatchet behind us also slowly got up.
At this turn of events, Philiana (F) hurriedly drew her sword. We drew our swords as well.
The corpse in front of my eyes gaped its mouth wide open and lunged towards me. I dodged to the side instinctively.
“It seems they were just sleeping!”
As she said that, Philiana (F) pierced the Death Hatchet from behind. However, as if feeling no pain, it turned towards her and swung down its large hatchets with both hands.
“Eek! Why?!”
It seemed she had dropped her sword due to the unexpected situation, and it remained stuck in its body.
“Piyo and Pauline (Female), hide behind Philiana (F)! Sharin, I’m counting on you with the hatchets.”
After giving instructions to Sharin, I moved behind the One-Eyed Garulga in front of me and pulled it away from everyone. The one-eyed beast, with its eyes rolled back, slowly approached us.
It came closer, step by step, with a shuffling gait. It was very slow, to say the least. Thanks to that, I was able to avoid its earlier attack. Frankly, I might be able to win against this opponent. But the problem is that attacks don’t seem to work.
Is this what they call a zombie? If so, should I aim for the head? While I was thinking such things, I heard a woman’s scream, followed by the sound of something heavy falling into the grass.
