Arisugawa Received an Unexpected Service from Pauline
Due to yesterday’s accident, I almost ended up being mistaken for a pervert.
Somehow clearing myself of suspicion, I decided to continue on my way to the port town.
“Oh, where are you heading?”
Philiana answered Lauren’s question by showing her a map.
“We’re heading to this town; we plan to borrow a ship and head to the continent over there.”
“Is that so? Then you’ll have to go through the forest, won’t you?”
As soon as we left the Arachne tribe’s village, we were back in the eerie forest. Does that mean the dinosaur-like beasts we encountered on the way here are swarming around?
“Hey Sharin, what if that dinosaur that turns its hands into hatchets appears again?”
“You mean Death Hatchet? I don’t know. I don’t think they’ll attack us since there are so many of us.”
So, it’s like a bear, in other words.
“D-don’t worry, they leave claw marks on their territory. Besides, One-Eyed Garulga travels in flocks, and you can hear their calls.”
I nodded at Lauren’s words and looked at a nearby tree. There were large claw marks on it, arranged in a horizontal line.
“Huh, th-this is…”
Everyone ignored me and went on ahead.
“But how did you defeat those two?”
“Hee hee, I sprinkled poison bait…”
Hearing that, Nina moved away from Lauren.
We continued for a while after that. The forest, which was already dark during the day, became even more eerie and cold as the temperature dropped significantly. We decided to spend the night in a slightly open area.
Sharin gathered surrounding wood and started a fire. The warm orangish light gave everyone a strangely relieved expression.
“I’ll take the first watch. Could someone possibly relieve me later?”
“I’ll do it. Wake me up when it’s time.”
As Nina offered to take over the watch, we each took out the food we bought during the day. Everyone chatted away, spending a quiet night.
At this point, I stood up to relieve myself. Well, there are no toilets, so it’s just some bushes somewhere.
I went to a spot where I could see everyone gathered around the fire and hid behind a tree. From their perspective… they probably couldn’t see me.
Just as I reached for my belt and was about to lower my pants, something dragged me into the darkness.
