Sharin and the others tried to help but ended up being surrounded instead.
We tried to go help the three, but Sharin and I were also surrounded in no time. We stood back-to-back, preparing for the Naga Women who looked ready to pounce. They seemed to be waiting for an opening on our side as well.
One Naga sprang from my side. As if on cue, the other women launched their attacks all at once.
I thrust my sword at the first one. Just in time, she agilely dodged.
As I lost my balance after her attack, I was roughly grabbed. I was quickly subdued and pushed to the ground. I could barely keep her outstretched hands from clawing at my face.
Through the gaps between the Naga pinning me down, I could see Sharin. She was being grabbed by the scruff of her neck and lifted high. It looked like they intended to smash her to the ground.
But I couldn’t even get up; both my arms were being held, and my legs were pinned by their heavy tails.
Just then, a man appeared from the bushes without a sound and slashed at the arm of the Naga who was lifting Sharin. The Naga dropped Sharin with a scream as its arm was cut.
After that, he pulled off the woman who was pinning me down, grabbed my arm, and pulled me up.
Before we could even thank him, the man dodged attacks with fluid movements and dispersed the flock of women with minimal effort.
The women let out frustrated cries at the sudden intervention and scattered, disappearing into the forest.
I picked up a nearby torch and lit the area. The man was also of the Naga Tribe and looked a good head older than me. The wrinkles at the corners of his eyes and his sparse stubble gave him a rugged, cowboy-like appearance from a Western.
“Thank you, you saved us.”
When I thanked him, the man sheathed his swords, one in each hand, and gave a wry smile.
“Hahaha, that was a close one. Are you adventurers? Exploring the forest at night, you seem quite advanced.”
I told the man that we were travelers and that we had a camp nearby.
“Ah, in that case, let’s go get our luggage first. It would be a problem if the bandits took it.”
We decided to return to our camp with the Naga man.
